Description

Sparkly or darkly, the DOD Bifet Boost 410 (2014) has the tone and volume to boost your solos into orbit. New for the DOD Bifet Boost 410 (2014), is a selectable Buffer On/Off toggle switch. This switch affects the bypass state of the 410 Bifet Boost and gives it the flexibility to be used anywhere in your FX chain. Use it first in the chain with the buffer off so that the buffer won't affect fuzz pedals, or put it last in the chain with the buffer on to counter the signal loss of today's larger packed pedalboards. The Bifet Boost can deliver a huge amount of output to hit the front of your amp and drive it into distortion. The DOD 410 is often described as a clean boost, but there is just a little hint of grit in there that works well with already cooking tube amps. The DOD Bifet Boost also works very well as an "always on", touch-sensitive and dynamic, tone sweetener in conjunction with guitar volume knob usage practiced by experienced players. The DOD Bifet Boost also has all of the added features of the new DOD pedals: True Bypass, LED, and modern PSU jack. Like its predecessor, the DOD Bifet Boost 410 (2014) offers independent Volume and Tone controls. Volume controls the amount of boost, and Tone allows for either bass or treble boost. True bypass allows your guitar tone to remain pristine even when the new DOD 410 (2014) is off. This is a big difference from the original, which would color your bypassed tone. The modern 9V DC power supply input also makes the pedal more pedalboard friendly.

  • A+ Boost Pedal
I got the DOD 410 to replace my TC Electronic Spark Mini & I'm very pleased with its performance. This pedal gives a nice clean boost at low to moderate settings & adds grit to your tone when dialed in at higher settings. Leave the buffer switch off when using at or near the beginning of your fx chain & put the buffer switch on when using at or near the end of your fx chain. Highly recommended. Solidly built, lots of output on tap, versatile, great value. ~ A+ ... show more

  • Decent boost with quality issues. Lots of noise out of the box.
This boost fattens up a strat pretty nicely but the usable range on the knobs for me is mostly from about 10 o'clock to 2 o'clock. Unity volume is at about 9 o'clock so there's not tons of volume. Mine was very noisy at first. I tried disassembling it and scratching the paint off of the holes in the enclosure to get a better ground but, in the end, I had to solder a lead from the battery ground to the inside of the enclosure to quiet it down. Not sure if this is a quality issue or a design flaw. ... show more

This is a fantastic boost pedal that you can find nowadays for a very affordable price. Boosts are pretty straightforward and picking one over another is generally a matter of taste, so I’ll just focus on a few things that set it apart from the others. First, one of my favorite things about the pedal is that it’s set up for the Volume knob to cover the full sweep of “no volume” to “unity gain” to “boost”. Many boosters do not allow you to do that, so if you have your amp set at a volume you like, your only option is to make it louder. You can even set Bifet Boost as a “kill switch”, if you like, by turning the volume all the way down. Unity gain is around 10:00. The tone control is the other thing I really like about this pedal. At 12:00, I believe it is fully neutral, but it gives a nice boost to either bass or treble without removing the other end. It’s certainly not the only boost with tone control, but I found it incredibly easy to use, and it’s such a nice option to have on a pedal that can set to sound basically how your amp sounds, but with the option to “open up” or give a little more “thump” to the sound you already have. I’ll admit that simply plugging the pedal into about 20 feet of cable, I didn’t hear much difference with the buffer on or off. But with pedalboards or longer cabling, there can be a significant loss of upper freuquencies and dynamics without a buffer. At the same time, some fuzz pedals do not react well to buffers, so it’s great that you can turn it on or off (even while bypassed). Into a relatively clean amp, the DOD Bifet Boost gives a nice articulation to your tone and can stay relatively clean while adding “just a bit more”. It’s a great boost pedal - possibly my favorite ... show more

  • This is the best you can have with a Boost/Buffer pedal
Wow. Such a crystal clear pedal. Amazing buffer, just giving you back those high end frequencies that you lose with long cables. The boost is awesome. Great with tube amp. The Tone knob puts it on a different level of regular boost pedals. One of my favourite pedals of my pedalboard, for sure.
