I had to return and re order because tiny copper connector was damaged. I would suggest you keep this unit on hot shoe and avoid taking it in and off because pins are very fragile. Other than that the mic performs very well.

The media could not be loaded. This is the go-to recommended hotshoe mic, and for good reason. I haven't got much use of it yet so I can't rate how it holds up in the field, but overall I'm relatively pleased with the microphone quality.

I love good audio, and I love on camera mics. With other microphones, you have to play with the gain adjustment in camera, and the gain controls and filters on the mic. The AC kicks on, and you have to readjust everything. This mic has all the bells and whistles, but it's basically plug and play for great audio. If you're recording from indoors to outdoors, the auto setting can be trusted. I save a lot of setup time using this mic. Usually for a mic that advertises different recording modes, there's compromise, but this mic has great quality in every mode. I've used it for vlogging, concerts, talking heads, and more. I made one of the most common mistakes when creating videos: not checking the microphone batteries. I lost my audio, which means you lose your video if you don't have a backup camera or external audio recorder. I love the multidirectional audio recording/capture options of the frontal, 180, and 360 audio collections, if that is how you explain it. Also, the microphone connects directly to your camera, which is a plus; you save some wires and space for other items, primarily if you use a camera cage. I have been in the film business since 1975 I can say this is a great mic for a Sony camera, works like a much bigger mic, handles background noise well and sounds great. It sounds way better than other small camera mics that I have use over the years. Only the larger professional mics from DPA or Sanken ( which cost thousands more ) out preform it. ... show more

    • Absolutly garbage ! Terible Sound !

Have no idea how the sound quality will be on digital mode, but on analog the sound is terrible fade and muffle. I have a Sony A7RIII. I have not expected this mic is not compatible digitally with my camera. 7RIII is not anymore a new camera but is not an antique one. However, set up the mic on the camera shoe and checked the audio signal levels, all was good.. Started recording and after a while, I just tap on the mic and I realized that the sound is not coming from the external mic and from my internal camera mic. Switch on analog and finally sounds came from the external mic... Uploaded in editing software and here was the biggest surprise: the sound from the internal Mic was WAY better than the whole sound recorded with the external mic after a switch on analog. Ruined a whole event with this garbage. More than that the mic is tall that you are not going to be able to balance your camera if you use a gimbal. I have a RS3 PRO that is a larger one and I was not able to do it properly! ... show more
