  • Nice bike
Bought it slightly used. Which meant that it was a return. Rear derailleur was bent, but was able to roughly fix. Saved $80 getting used, don't regret. It's a pretty nice bike for kids. Daughter loves it. Wish it had a kickstand.

  • Nice re-boxed bike
I ordered a re-boxed bike. The box is ugly, been cut open and re-taped. Quality of the bike is good though. Wrapping and protecting was not even removed. It’s easy to put together. Looks great and very sturdy. The only issue I have is the color. It showed purple but comes in blue that’s probably why it got return. And Amazon repeating the inventory mistake. Fortunately, my daughter was not complaining, so we decided to keep it. Hey, we got a re-boxed price and were prepared to receive a bike with slightly defect. Color might be a kind of defect I assume. ... show more

  • One piece at a time....
I had several issues assembling this bike and felt like I was living the Johnny Cash song "One Piece at a Time." Let me explain.... The box arrived in one piece and all evidence was this was a new bike that had never been opened or unpackaged. Assembly wasn't too bad but there were no instructions provided. There was a general Diamondback owner's manual that told you how to ride a bike and basic bike safety, but zero assembly instructions. I managed to assemble most of the bike in about 45 minutes and it did come with the proper sized wrench, Allen wrenches, and you'll also need a Phillips screwdriver. One of the final pieces to assemble was the seat and the wrong sized seatpost was provided. A 28.6 mm seatpost was provided and this was too large and wouldn't slide down. There was zero chance it would fit even if I used a sledgehammer. Knowing from prior reviews that Diamondback customer service was useless I opted to order a new seatpost from Amazon. This bike requires a 27.2 mm seatpost which added another $10.99 to the cost of the bike. As I was making sure the brakes and gears were all working properly, I noticed the rear tire was freely spinning even when applying the brakes. Upon closer inspection it was missing one brake pad so back to Amazon I went to spend another $8.99 on new brake pads. However, I wasn't done there because, like other reviews mentioned, this bike doesn't include a kickstand so back to Amazon I went to spend another $11.99 on a kickstand. Finally after all of the extra parts and another $30+ dollars later the bike is finally assembled. It is a great bike, rides smooth, and age appropriate for our almost eight year old daughter. I figure she will get about two riding seasons out of this bike before needing a larger size. So long story short, this is a nice bike for an 8-10 year old girl. Even the blue bike is a feminine color/appearance so she is very happy with it. I recommend ordering a white kickstand since is matches nicely with the blue/white bike. Although I am satisfied with the final product, I would avoid ordering this from Amazon and go to your local bike shop. I order from Amazon for the convenience but buying, assembling, and ordering more parts was anything but a convenient process. I went to a local bike shop and they had a similar Diamondback bike in stock and I would have gladly paid more to avoid the hassle of my purchase. I am going to give this bike two stars because I am pleased with the final product. Three stars were taken off because the process of getting to the final product was just ridiculous with missing parts and the extra money spent. ... show more

  • Terrific bike for the buck!
Made this purchase for my 11 year old daughter. She had a 20” Tess from diamondback for the past 4 years. As expected these bikes are partially assembled. No big deal people! Just take a few moments to realize this is easy enough and all you really need is a Phillips head screwdriver and the supplied Allen keys. The brakes will stretch and need adjusted down the road too, so here’s the chance to get to understand how to do it. Great bike! Light aluminum frame worth the few extra bucks over the Tess 24” steel frame. And the 21 speeds offer unlimited shifting. We love it ! Absolutely would purchase again. ... show more

  • Recieved the wrong bike, but kept it anyway. Amazon: How to you stay in business?
I ordered this about 2 weeks ago for my daughters birthday. I opened the box today to assemble the bike and there was, to my surprise, a red bicycle inside the box. For some reason, Amazon sent me a Diamondback Octane 24" bike instead of the blue Lustre 24" girls bike. My daughter wanted a yellow bike, but they are very rare, so since this Octane is virtually the same as the Lustre, and it has yellow on it, I've decided to keep it and give it too her. Assembling the bike was pretty simple, taking just over 2 hours to complete. I spent some time adjusting the brake shoes, but the derailleurs seemed to be working fine out of the box. It comes with the tools needed to assemble but you'll need some sturdy scissors, or wire cutters to cut through all the cable zip-ties that are used for shipping. The red, rear reflector that mounts to the seat post is not large enough for the seat post. I had to swap in a longer screw in order to make it fit. Otherwise, I'm pretty pleased with the middle-of-the-road quality. I was able to buy a decent Mt. bike with an aluminum frame for about $250. Due to the couple of tiny issues with assembly, and the huge oops on Amazon's part. I'm rating this as a 3. Most buyers would have sent this back due to the wrong bike being shipped. ... show more

  • Good value for money with this bike!
I picked this bike for its price and features, and I am liking it for my kids so far. It came with easy instructions to attach the pedals, handlebar and front wheel; it's sturdy, and the gear shifting is simple for kids, and robust feeling.

  • Bad frame Geometry. Shoe rubs wheel. No trigger shifters.
This bike had several issues. After assembling the bike we realized the seat post was incorrectly sized and would not fit. I found a seat post that would fit from an old bike and used that temporarily. My kid took it for a test ride and had a hard time shifting gears, It does not have trigger shifters as shown in the items pictures, instead it has friction/twist shifters which can be difficult to use. Also we realized her shoe rubs the front wheel while turning. There was no way to avoid this, the pedal is to close to the wheel while turning, either poor frame geometry and/or incorrect crank arm size. I had to go thru the task of disassembling the bike and repackaging it so I could return it. ... show more

  • Excellent bike
My daughter loves this bike. The handlebar breaks and gears were easy for her to get used to. It was easy to assemble. For those like me who had trouble finding reliable info about what size bike to get, she is 52” tall and this size is perfect for her.
