As stated in some of the previous ratings you can tell that these are made to last when you open the package, they are made of heavy gauge steel and are very sharp! You get 2 pairs so it's a great value. They handled cutting the backbone out of a turkey breast easily, also made spatchcocking a chicken a breeze. They also are great at normal "scissoring" tasks like cutting parchment paper, cutting open sealed packaging etc. They are easy to clean as the blades come apart so it gets my overall approval as they surpassed my expectations. I've only had them a couple of weeks so I can't speak to the durability yet but so far so good.

I bought these after misplacing the shears that came with my OXO knife set several years ago, and I wish that I had just bought the same OXO shears. My main requirements were that the new pair come apart for thorough cleaning, won't rust, and were strong and sharp enough to cut through anything in the kitchen. These seemed to fit all that and the reviews were favorable. Plus, I could get 2 pr of shears for the price of the OXO ones. I figured I could keep one for food prep and use the other as general utility, so I ordered them. And quickly found out ALL the edges on the blades of these shears are sharp, not just the cutting edges. I hand wash my dishes, and will have to be careful not to drop the separated blades into dish pan with other cutlery as I'd risk slicing a finger when reaching under the bubbles. They must be treated like the kitchen cutlery they are. Use a sponge or dishcloth on the blades and handles. Don't touch the metal with your wet hands. And when using them, watch your fingers when you snip because they'll do exactly what they're designed to do, cut through flesh to the bone. Also be very careful where and how you store the two pair, because you'll grope among utensils in a drawer at your own risk. My old OXO shears had become somewhat dull after 3 yrs and were on my task list to have sharpened by a local professional, but they were a lot less hazardous for daily use.

The only thing I would mention about these that makes them less than 100% perfect is that they really should be hand washed. I did try running them through the dishwasher once, but one blade started to show rust spots almost right away so I decided to only hand wash them. Other than that, we love them. They cut smoothly with both left & right hand. Separate easily into two pieces for complete cleaning and sharpening. Great scissors. Nice to have the two sizes.

Needed replacement shears in the kitchen and these are it. It's definitely sharp. The only con about these scissors are the construction of the handle. It's rough to get a comfortable grip and the metal edge hurts, so be careful when handling.
