Description

The 5 in. variable-speed random orbit sander comes with a hook-and-loop pad to make changing sanding sheets simple. This random orbit sander has a powerful 3-amp motor that delivers between 8,000 and 12,000 OPM. The separate counterweight reduces vibration while the rubber overmold grip provides comfortable sanding. A low-profile design allows users to get closer to the worksurface and the one-handed locking dust bag attaches securely to the sander to aid in dust collection, or the user can attach the sander directly to the DWV010 or DWV012 dust collectors.

This DEWALT random orbit sander has been a great addition to my tool collection. Despite its compact size, it works wonders. I used it to remove overspray on my basement stairs, and it handled the job smoothly and efficiently with excellent control. The variable speed is a big plus, allowing you to adjust based on the task, and the sander feels solid and well balanced in hand. One important warning: the dust travels farther than you expect, especially in small or enclosed spaces. Be sure to close doors and cover nearby furniture before you start—I learned that the hard way. Overall, this is a reliable, powerful sander that delivers professional results. I've used a few different orbital sanders over the years, and this DEWALT is easily one of the best in its price range. The variable speed is a huge plus, plus it makes it easy to dial things in depending on whether I’m sanding soft pine or harder woods like oak or walnut. It’s got a good weight to it, but not so much that it wears out your arm. It glides smoothly across the surface without leaving swirl marks, and the vibration is minimal, which is something I really appreciate after long sanding sessions. Dust collection isn’t perfect, but it does a decent job if you hook it up to a vacuum. I ended up using a universal adapter to fit my dust extractor and it’s been solid. For woodworking projects, furniture refinishing, or general cleanup sanding, this sander just works. Great sander with good options, I have found that it is not as powerful as my Dewalt D26451 sander. It is nice that you can change the speed, but this is not a powerhouse.

It would seem that it sand much faster than the sander it replaced. It vibrates a lot less. And is as noisy as heck. The dust collector works very well so I did not have gobs of dust covering everything. The box it came in looked suspicious.
