Description

The DWE6421 5-inch Single Speed Random Orbital Sander with hook and loop pad has a 3-amp motor that delivers 12,000 OPM. The separate counterweight reduces vibration and along with the rubber overmold grip provides comfortable sanding. A shorter design allows users to get closer to the work surface and the one-handed locking dust bag attaches securely to the sander to aid in dust collection or the user can attach the power sander directly to the DWV010 or DWV012 dust collectors.

I've owned quarter sheet sanders for many years but I've also learned to appreciate the ease of these 5" sanding sheets that are pre-cut and do not use clamps to hold them in place. Very simple velcro style of attachment and they do not slip or come off unless you remove them. I was fortunate and found mine listed in Amazon's Warehouse for $62. Description said it was used - good condition. Mine was actually new, still wrapped in plastic bag, inside of original factory box and included manual and dust bag. This little sander is the best. Easy to use, not too noisy. The dust pickup is incredible, hardly leaves any residue. As always, Dewalt,hands down, puts out the best tools. Yes they are a little costly, but quality is always there.

Easy to use and effective. It’s much better than the box store junk one I replaced. The little bag catches fine dust too, although if you’re indoors, you’ll still need to sweep/vacuum some debris.

My Makita sander finally gave up the ghost, so, I bought the DeWalt. I must say that the DeWalt is much better than my 25 year old Makita especially the dust collector. not only was the job better in less time, I was much cleaner because of the dust collector. The only problem I have with the unit is the cord. It is stiff and always in the way. It seems like the days of having nice supple cord on power tools are over. ... show more

DEWALT Orbital Sander, 5-Inch (DWE6421) This orbital sander is powerful. I used it to sand (the ends of) plywood with 3M sandpaper* (80, 100, and 220) and sanding was quick and easy. The filter works great, but be sure to empty it every so often for best results. The only thing I didn't like about this sander was the on/off switch, because the rubber protection cover was probably made for a larger switch, and the switch is a little hard to find (no jokes please). Very minor complaint for me. *Do yourself a favor and use 3M sandpaper. I believe I bought this on sale and at the price I got it at (if I recall correctly ~50) I would definately recommend it, but it is worth more than that (I'd buy it again at a non-sale price, now that I know it's good) - I scored on the Amazon Prime sale for sure! This is a good priced, solid orbital sander. It’s well balanced and easy to control unlike many value brand sanders. Hand fatigue is minimal and material removal is what you’d expect of a good sander. Dust collection is decent.
