Description

The DEWALT 1/2 in. x 50 ft. Double Arm Hose Reel is suitable for industrial, contractor, or household use. The spring-powered drive feature makes hose retraction quick, automatic, and easy. The 12 position ratchet gearing lock allows for the hose to be pulled to any length. With the self-leveling system, the hose can be wound up easily. The dual-arm and professional grade all-steel construction is very strong and reliable. The hose guide uses a 4-roller design to help reduce hose wear. The premium rubber air hose stays flexible to work with, even at 40°F below zero, yet still takes the heat up to 150°F without swelling or bubbling. The hose is kink and oil resistant under pressure and has a 1/2 in. x 4 ft. lead in the air hose for easy compressor connection. The DEWALT 1/2 in. x 50 ft. Ordered this to end the "roll up the hoses" chore in the shop, but I goofed on what I thought my hose dimensions were. I thought I had a 1/2 and a 3/8 setup, but as soon as this arrived I realized I had a 3/8 and 1/4 setup. The plan was to mount this in the ceiling, but at nearly 50 lbs, I bailed on that idea and fabbed up a bracket and shelf to mount this right on the compressor. Works like a champ. Not that you couldn't put this on the ceiling, but you'll need a second set of hands for sure. In use, the larger than expected hose is obviously targeting high volume needs, such as sandblasting or monster impact wrenches (think 3/4 or 1" drive). The hose is beefy, so if you used this for painting your arms will get a workout for sure. Retracts fine if you're patient...the hose is pretty stiff so you have to let it find its own way back onto the reel. All brass connections...no leaks for me. Don't forget the Teflon tape! If you're looking for a high volume setup, this is a great deal. Light duty, small paint jobs, nailers...might be a little too beefy. ... show more

I bought this hose reel to get a 1/2” hose, sturdy reel, and double sided brace. It arrived with box a bit damaged and the mounting surface slightly bent. I straightened it and installed it. The steel column I used to support the reel was too narrow for holes in the reel, so I drilled new holes In the reel which worked out just fine. Note the supply hose provided is 4’ long and I needed 7’. After searching for a local Place to make up a new hose, I opted to add a 4’ supply hose with a coupling. All working well now.     • Good heavy duty quality
My bad, didn’t realize it was all 1/2 inch. Had to adapt a few things but the hose is really heavy duty and the entire mechanism is solid. Worth the price over the plastic ones!

I went with the 1/2. Used on Amazon. And as always it came brand new. Saved a ton. Did a video on this. The build is very good. The notches for the lock are thick and will last forever.

Thing was good for a few months. But it started rusting and fading bad. All of the gloss is gone. It is mounted on a truck that is garage kept when not being used for work. The rust started on the Allen bolts and eventually made its way to the reel mechanism and it’s not working now. The hose is also dry rotting and cracking. Pretty disappointed for these results from the major brand name. It is in northern Virginia. Not a major area for rust. It’s never been out and exposed to conditions when there’s salt on the road. It also hasn’t seen its first summer. It might be a decent reel for indoor use only, but they should advertise it that way. ... show more

    • It's okay, but slightly disappointing.
Only a partial fan. First off, I received the item and it was bent a bit. I didn't realize the drum was bent until it was mounted and I could unspool it. Oh well, too much of a pain to pull it off the wall and mail the heavy thing back. I straightened it the best I could with an adjustable wrench that I used to bend the lip back in a few places. As for the unit itself, I'm not sure why these thick hoses and 1/2" NPT have such small holes inside the fitting end. I swear it's barely bigger than at least my high flow 1/4". Regardless, the hole on the swivel side on the reel itself is no bigger than my 3/8" hose reel I upgraded from. Not sure how a 1/2" hose is supposed to benefit from the same size inlet as a 3/8" hose. Another weird thing is the angle the rollers are on. For a ceiling this would be fine, but on a wall it's pointed straight at the floor. You can remove the screws/nuts and reposition this into another set of holes, which fixes the issue somewhat, but it's still on a weird angle. I wish more flexibility was built in. Out of the box, the spring is barely enough to reel the hose all the way back in. Yes, I can adjust it, but it seems weird right out of the box. My last hose reel lasted over 20 years. I'm thinking this one will likely last "a few", but I doubt it will last as long as my no name prior brand. I expected more for DeWalt. Other than the twin arms, where my other one had a single arm, the rest of the build doesn't inspire confidence. On a good note, all the fittings are leak-free, unlike the experience of some of the others that have posted reviews here. So that's good. ... show more
