  • So much better than fighting my old 2 stroke.
Style: String Trimmer
Very impressed with this weed eater. I haven't been too excited to jump into the realm of electric yard tools but I was sick and tired of fighting an old two stroke engine. I've always had a good experience with Dewalt and this was no exception. Plenty of power and cuts great. The battery lasts longer than I do. I would last a little longer if it had a shoulder strap but the weight is managable. It's also compatible with the pole trimmer attachment which will be one of my next purchases. ... show more

  • This is a game changer!
Style: String Trimmer
I've had this for a year now, and let me tell you, this is a game changer! I'm not good at pull cords, the whole gas/oil mix, and all that goes into most power tools. (I'm a woman in my late 50s who is used to doing chores, but not good at the tool maintenance and set-up.) This is finally something that is relatively easy maintenance, and is still heavy duty enough to do the work. I have other name brand weed eaters, but they take too much work to set up, so this is my go-to. The only drawback is that the battery only lasts about 30 minutes of hard use, so I'm debating getting a second battery, or just doing 30 minutes at a time between other chores. :-) After a year, it still works like brand new! ... show more

  • BEAST!! Definitely worth it!
Style: String Trimmer
Beast!! I did my homework researching this, and went ahead and took a chance....AMAZING PRODUCT!! I love this more than my gas one and my previous (other brand) one. I left mine on low and it still out performed my other weed trimmers. I only have a little over an acre of land, but the power was non-stop! Thank goodness I have other batteries, because I had to also use a back up battery. Definitely impressed!! ... show more

  • powerful tool with flaws
Style: String Trimmer
This machine can tear up the weeds . The battery though is good for about 35 minutes or so . If you have a lot to do you need at least one spare probably two. The head is a nightmare. It is not that easy to wind it in and then the head top has two tabs. I get one in and try to press down the other side . then when it goes in the opposing tab pops out. It is horrible and I am probably going to have to find some kind of replacement head that fits what would have been a AAA plus machine. It's a real problem the device comes with almost zero instructions regarding the head. It has to be all put together then line up the white dots (which will wear off really fast when used) shove the line through . Do not use too much . The cutting tab which is supposed to cut the string as it swirls is useless plastic. It needs to be sharp metal. This is my edit to my post. I have to say it is really strong and I love Dewalt products but they this is my second DeWalt string trimmer and they don't have a clue about good heads on these things. ... show more

  • First summer was a good summer
I used this all summer and am pleased with the performance. I have ~400 feet to edge and when the soil is relatively dry I can do that on one charge and have 2 bars showing when I am done. Damp earth gums up in the guard, requiring it to be cleared at intervals, and the mud loads the motor, shortening the battery life. But I can still get it done on one charge if I keep the guard mostly free of mud. The guard was designed by lawyer and not an engineer / user and so has to be modified to make the unit usable. As delivered it prevents the blade from getting deep enough and gums up with soil constantly. The string trimmer seems to be fine. I am no expert on this part as I have only a small amount of trimming to do. I note that upon receipt, and after the 1st battery charge, the battery didn't last very long. I had to charge it 3 times for the 400 ft. After the 2nd charge, the energy storage seems to have improved nicely. The guard modification to rid the machine of the unnecessary load probably helped in this regard. I also note that the grease bushing in the trimmer attachment somehow worked its way up the shaft and jammed the indexing button so that it no longer worked. A deep socket and a hammer drove it back to its home and all is well. How that bushing moved I do not know. ... show more

  • Broke after 3 hours of use and customer service was horrible
Style: String Trimmer
After about 3-4 hours of residential use with the string trimmer and brush cutter attachments, the power unit stopped working. I started a warranty claim, which could be described as cumbersome at best. When The unit was shipped off to their factory service center I was notified a few weeks later (after multiple inquiries) that the unit was going to be replaced, and a new one shipped. After more than 2 months and half a dozen follow up phone calls, the replacement still has not arrived. A call to the repair center is being met with "we can't help, you our computer system is down, call back [later, tomorrow, etc...] and every time I call back as requested it keeps being pushed off. A call to Dewalt was met with "sorry, can't help you you have to contact the service center". And was told at one point that they couldn't get in contact with the service center. At this point it's basically theft. they still have the unit I paid for and refuse to do anything to rectify the problem, have a non-functioning computer system, and seem to have no interest in actually rectifying this issue. • One of the very best battery weed eaters
Style: String Trimmer
This was rated #1 in the Project Farm channel review of weed eaters. I watched the review AFTER I bought this and my main reason for buying it is I have a lot of Dewalt tools that use this battery. Other brands of attachments also fit this powerhead so I can borrow my neighbors "green" edger attachment but another brand's chainsaw runs backwards on this powerhead so it does not always work. The string that comes with it is crap but I have my own better string so not an issue that so no loss of any points for that. VERY HAPPY with this. I'll never buy another gas weed eater again. I still need to test how long this giant battery will run my leaf blower. My next purchase will be the chain saw or the hedge trimmer . . . or talk the kids into getting it for Christmas :o) P.S. I'm a retired landscaper (50+ years) so I know what a GOOD weed eater is, I've gone through many of them. ... show more
