  • Easy to use easy to setup
Style: Bare Tool Only
Dewalt does it again. Flawless execution in all aspects of the tool. Easy to change the bit, cuts through 3/8,1/2,5/8 like a hot knife through butter. It was a little bit of a learning curve to get precise cuts and a bit cumbersome at first most likely because I’m old school and set in my ways cutting with a blade but after only a couple hours I was a convert and will never use a utility knife again for outlets and doors. 10 out of 10 recommended 👍 ... show more

  • Cuts a nice hole effortlessly!!
Style: Kit with 2 Batteries
I bought this to cut a perfect hole in the drywall on the back of a shower wall. I've used a razor knife in the past which worked but not as well as this trimmer. You can set the depth of the cut unlike a knife. this is faster and more accurate than a knife, unless you do this every day on your job.

  • Simple and lightweight!
Style: Bare Tool Only
Worked great! I have been waiting to buy one of these, as it just seemed unnecessary when you can use a standard drywall knife. But this made it SOOO easy. Lightweight enough too where on the couple of projects I did I was able to hold the shop vac at the same time as cutting what I needed too. Which was great. ... show more

  • Does the job, but the stop is easy to bend out of shape
Style: Bare Tool Only
I bought this tool to make cutouts in drywall (duh) for installing around sockets and light fixtures. I found that you will definitely want the plunge type bit for it (some bits have flat tips, others have plunge tips). Best way to use the tool is to mark your work area, and plunge the bit toward the inside until the tool is resting on the stop. Because of the torque, when you begin to cut, the tool will try to wander into the work piece. You won't have to fight to control it, but if you want nice straight cuts, you will definitely need to pay attention and work carefully. Prior to owning this cut out tool, I was using a keyhole saw. The keyhole saw works very well -- until you have a cutout that leaves only a narrow piece of material. The keyhole saw has a tendency to break the work piece when there is a narrow strip of drywall to leave in place, which is incredibly frustrating. The drywall cutout tool does not have such a limitation. My advice is that you should always start your cut along the narrowest side of the work piece, so that as the sacrificial part of the drywall begins to fall away, it doesn't pull on the narrow side and potentially break it. If you do the narrow side first, you won't have any problems with breaking the work piece (until you go to install it, but that's a problem for another day). ... show more
