I used this while building a dock located many feet away from a power outlet. I was skeptical about the battery life. I was able to trim the ends on 40’ of 2 x 6 cedar decking boards and still had power left. It is a nice little lightweight saw with plenty of power. Strongly recommended. I've owned my electrical circular saw forever! I have many tools and finally decided it was time to update my saw. I made a GREAT decision. First off, I notice no difference in the actual cutting of wood. The saw is definitely a little heavier with the battery. But the convenience of not needing a outlet is PRICELESS. Most of my projects are outside in the yard and running a extension cord is a pain in the butt. This saw is worth every penny. I have other Dewalt tools that use batteries, so I already had extra batteries and charger. Not sure how long the battery last, since I always have multiple batteries at my disposal. ... show more

I purchased this as a present for my son. He just used it for an all day project which involved cutting a lot of 2x6 boards. He said it worked great, had plenty of power, and still had lots of battery left at the end of the day. He's pleased. I'm pleased.

I bought this tool because I am tired of dealing with gas powered tools that I don't use often enough and the gas goes bad. Wasnt sure what to expect. Had a really large work bench delivered on a pallet right before my saw arrived. Couldnt get the giant wood slabs of the pallet to fit in my trash can. Then the saw arrived. Instructions for assembly were easy to read and follow. Got familiar with the basic controls, charged the battery and went to work. Cut through that wood like butter. I’ve avoided a cordless circular saw like the tool plague, that is until I tried one. It’s just so convenient to not be tied to an outlet when working a small job. There is a shocking amount of torque in the 7 1/4” model, of course akerping a sharp blade on board helps. The only drawback is that even the 20V lithium pack has to be recharged, at least until some physicist solves this conservation of energy dilemma. ... show more
