I purchased this because I needed to cut some carpet into 4 foot strips in order for our garbage pick up to accept them. I now use this for pretty much everything that I would otherwise use a utility knife for. One of my favorite tools is my oscillating multitool. I find it useful for so many things around the house and I’m always willing to try out a new blade. These blades work for both pushing and pulling action for a chore like cutting carpet that is fantastic because I can go from one side to the other without getting crammed into a corner. Also can give my arms a break from the motion of pulling and switch to pushing and have less fatigue. This comes with three blades. Rotating back-and-forth between the push and pull blade.     • Works but a little slow
I get a lot of boxes and have to cut them apart for disposal. I thought perhaps this would be easier to use than a box cutter. It installed easily on my oscillating tool. I first tried the hook part of the tool and it worked but was a little slow. I then tried the push part and it worked much better. While it did work it was still slower than a box cutter which is why I deducted a star. The good news is that it is safer than the box cutter. I’m anxious to try it on carpet but don’t have any that needs cut at this time. ... show more

My Oscillating tool has solved many problems for me so I will try any blade or attachment for it out there. This hook knife blade worked great for tar paper both pushing and pulling. Cutting curves is very easy on something lightweight like tar paper. I also tried it out on a scrap of carpet - from the backing side it worked okay but not much faster or easier than using a blade. But from the fuzzy side it was much easier than trying to run a blade manually thru it. ... show more

I ordered this mainly because I have a collection of blades for my oscillating tool but nothing quite like this. I don't have any carpets to cut at the moment so I thought I would try it out on some carboard waiting to be recycled and I was very impressed. It cut through the cardboard like nothing, in fact I was a little worried that it would go to fast and slip off course and catch my hand. I then tried it on an even heavier gauge of cardboard that was actually doubled up and it even went through that! this is a great addition to my blade set and I can't say for sure, but I would guess that it would go through carpet just as easily. This by no means is meant nor designed to go through thicker material like full size wood but as long as it's used for what its intended, it will get it done for you. I was using it with a Craftsman tool, and it fit perfectly, as it says it does with most brands, it also includes adapters for Bosch and Dremel tools. Overall and at this price I really don't think that you can go wrong with grabbing a set of these blades while they are still available. ... show more

    • cut cardboard well
The hook blade worked well cutting down a bunch of cardboard boxes. A brand new razor blade is sharper and could do it quicker but this still took a bit less effort. could imagine it would be fantastic on appliance boxes or other large packing since it's a hook there would be little risk of damaging the item. As the other materials it's listed to cut are a bit more rigid than the cardboard it feels like it should cut them well and last far longer than a razor blade knife would and not risk the surface below. ... show more
