    • Best tool set.
Style: NEW 142 Piece Set
My husband neglects to replace his tools and we now have both German and American cars to work on. He kept saying he’d wait to invest in a really nice set of metric and SAE so any tools that broke or got lost, he’d “temporarily” replace with an inexpensive little set. I like organizing his tools and it got to the point where it was just past all repair. I took a shot and aligned with the dewalt brand for this kit, and a few other essentials as a Christmas present. He loves it SO much. Everything is readily available, portable, the case is compact yet comprehensive. I personally have a hard time getting the bits out (long nails) but he has no issue. And he’s managed to avoid losing or breaking any because it’s so obvious what’s out of the case. I’m considering buying a second as a travel/trail kit. We love it so much. Will continue buying dewalt for all our future tool needs. ... show more

DeWalt typically means professional level tools. This tool set is not aimed at the professional, this is definitely the consumer line of DeWalt. As such, you aren't going to get the pro-level tools DeWalt is famous for - but they are definitely good quality, with a lifetime warranty against breakage. The case is strong and has a REAL hinge, not a "live" plastic hinge that always breaks after years of use. It includes: - SAE and Metric allen keys - SAE and Metric wrenches (5 each) - Most common sized SAE and Metric sockets - 1/4" and 3/8" socket wrenches with extensions - SAE and Metric nut drivers - Various socket adapters, screwdriver bits and a screwdriver I was less than impressed with the condition of the ratched wrenches. At first I thought that this toolkit might have been used and returned, because the wrenches were covered in oily fingerprints! Closer examination revealed that the set was NOT used, and what I was looking at was the fingerprints of whoever put the wrenches into the case at the factory. The sockets are good (not great) quality, and are knurled and stamped with the size. The sockets have the size, a DeWalt part number and the DeWalt logo on EVERY socket, which makes it really difficult to pick out the size amongst all the other text. Why not just stamp the size on it a few times? Overall, for a beginner tool set, you really can't go wrong with this one, it's a decent starter set from a well-known and respected brand name. Who is this for? - Beginners looking for their first tool set Pros: - Decent quality tools - Good selection of both metric and SAE fastener tools Cons: - Only five wrenches of each size - Oily fingerprints on socket wrenches - No pliers included (surprising) ... show more
