Description

The GEARWRENCH 80972 209 Piece ¼” Drive, 3/8” Drive, ½” Drive SAE & Metric, Standard & Deep, 6 Point Impact Socket Master Set, provides the full range of sockets and impact drive tool accessories to cover a full range of fastener sizes from 3/16” – 1-1/2” & 4mm - 36mm. All of the 6-point standard and deep impact sockets within the set feature high-visibility laser-etched markings and secondary hard stamped size markings provide quick size identification. The SAE and metric sockets are made from Chrome molybdenum alloy steel (Cr-Mo) for exceptional strength and durability, have a manganese phosphate finish to resist corrosion with off-corner loading design to reduce fastener rounding. The sets impact drive tool accessories include: impact universal joints, to provide angled access to more fasteners, impact extension bars, to provide additional reach and access to more fasteners, and impact adapters, allowing the impact drive tools to work with additional drive size of sockets.

I always wanted a good quality set of impact sockets. It's not cheap, but you get a lot for your money with this 209 piece set. I have not used them yet, but wanted to do a review to show others what is included. There were a lot of reviewers stating they were missing pieces and/or had duplicates so I was hesitant about purchasing this set. I was so pleased when my set arrived with all 209 pieces and no duplicates. The only flaw I have noticed was a one inch socket that was missing the laser etched label. ... show more

7/16 3/8 drive regular was cut 5/16 size. Missing 24mm 1/2 drive deep because duplicate 23mm 1/2 drive deep was sent. Missing 9mm 1/4 drive regular because duplicate 6mm 1/4 drive regular was sent. Sockets come in bags in cardboard boxes. Some sockets come individually wrapped inside those larger bags. Some sockets are an off color. Not all things that are of major concern when you're going to beating them up every day anyway, but in conjunction with the deficiencies mentioned above I don't believe it's too much to ask to open a box you just spent half a month's mortgage on and find everything already in order in a tray. Too many reviews with quality control issues for it to be a fluke. People swear by Gearwrench, but it makes you wonder where else the quality control is lacking across their line of products. Seem like solid quality when you hold them, though. I will be using them for heavy duty applications, so I'll update after a while. ... show more

There was no 20mm 3/8 drive, standard or deep well. No 33, 34, or 35mm standard depth 1/2” drive.

1/29/24 The 1/4" drive seems fine. The 3/8" and 1/2" have a burr on the inside that damages the nuts. I will update this with the solution from Gearwrench. 2/10/24 Update: Gearwrench sent out replacements, half of those had the same issues, and the replacement kit was missing all the 3/8" drive shallow STD sockets. 2/26/24 I sent the first kit back and a few sockets from the new kit. Their quality department received them and confirmed the burr in all the sockets. They went to check the next set they were going to send and found the same issues. I will update you with the next step. 3/7/24 Gearwrench is still not able to replace my set due to finding the defects accross multiple sets. They stated that they couldn’t refund my order but offered other sets that don’t match what this set has which was the biggest reason for my purchase. I replied that this was not acceptable. 3/20/24 They are finally making it right. They are sending all the sockets except for 1/4" drive in singles. They also threw in sets 89093 and 89095. I received all but 27 of the replacement sockets and the two sets. I should receive the last 27 sockets next week. 4/4/24 I did not receive the last 27 sockets as anticipated. I will receive them here and there over the next few months I just recently learned, after inspecting the new arrivals they have a widespread issue with the burrs in the sockets. If you are ok with your sockets damaging the nuts the first few uses, this kit is ok. If you are not ok with that I would purchase another brand. At this point, I am just accepting what they send because I'm over-dealing with it. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is because (even though I had to stay on top of it) they tried to make it right. ... show more
