Description

The GEARWRENCH 80972 209 Piece ¼” Drive, 3/8” Drive, ½” Drive SAE & Metric, Standard & Deep, 6 Point Impact Socket Master Set, provides the full range of sockets and impact drive tool accessories to cover a full range of fastener sizes from 3/16” – 1-1/2” & 4mm - 36mm. All of the 6-point standard and deep impact sockets within the set feature high-visibility laser-etched markings and secondary hard stamped size markings provide quick size identification. The SAE and metric sockets are made from Chrome molybdenum alloy steel (Cr-Mo) for exceptional strength and durability, have a manganese phosphate finish to resist corrosion with off-corner loading design to reduce fastener rounding. The sets impact drive tool accessories include: impact universal joints, to provide angled access to more fasteners, impact extension bars, to provide additional reach and access to more fasteners, and impact adapters, allowing the impact drive tools to work with additional drive size of sockets.

Just received my sockets/extensions/adapters this afternoon. Like others said, they come in plastic bag’s inside a heavy duty box. That said, that was the least of my concerns. My concerns were getting the correct number of pieces and no duplicates after reading some other reviews. No duplicates. Very nice impact socket set. In all, especially for the discounted price, I think this deal would be hard to beat. Also, I didn’t give it 5 stars (yet), only b/c I haven’t had a chance to test their durability. I may edit the rating later after I get to use them. So far, I’m a happy camper 👍😁 Edit: 6/30/2023 Seem to be holding their own very nicely with an air impact gun and a Dewalt 20v impact gun. You get every size up to 1-1/2" in SAE and 36mm in Metric in 1/2" drive, and it even has very small sizes in 1/4" drive. I can't remember needing 1/4" impact before, but I have them now. We have an off-grid property, and I got tired of needing tools that I didn't have. This set gives us the ability to handle just about everything ourselves. I'll be adding a few 3/4" drive items for specific, specialty stuff later. ... show more

This socket set is a great value for the cost!!! I have used Gearwrench products before, and was happy with their performance and these sockets did not disappoint!!!! I always wanted a good quality set of impact sockets. It's not cheap, but you get a lot for your money with this 209 piece set. I have not used them yet, but wanted to do a review to show others what is included. There were a lot of reviewers stating they were missing pieces and/or had duplicates so I was hesitant about purchasing this set. I was so pleased when my set arrived with all 209 pieces and no duplicates. The only flaw I have noticed was a one inch socket that was missing the laser etched label. ... show more

    • Designed to be missing certain sockets
I buy mostly Tekton tools, but this was on a super sale over the holidays, so I grabbed it. After receiving and sorting all the sockets, my romance with Gearwrench will be short lived. It appears well made but someone at Gearwrench seems to have lost their mind. There are tons of complaints in the reviews about missing sockets. While some of those complaints appear valid and some received sets that were truly missing sockets, it appears that this set is designed to have some really weird skips. Based on other reviews and as much info as I can find on the web, it appears that this set is designed without 3/8 20MM in both std and deep but 1/2 20MM is included in both std and deep. 3/8 Metric goes from 8 to 22 in both std and deep, but 20 is just randomly not in sequence. They also skip 1/2 33, 34, 35 in std only. They are present in deep. I have noticed that Gearwrench does some similar weird skips between std and deep when you get into their 3/4 impact line as well. Std and deep don't have all the same sizes. I realize that some socket sizes are rarely used and some sets skip less common sizes to save cost, but why skip in one drive size and not in another? Why skip in std (shallow) and not skip them in deep. In the end, I'm disappointed that I didn't stick with Tekton which are true no-skip sets. By the time I buy organizers for these, I won't be too far off from Tekton in price and those are available with various organizer options as part of the kits. ... show more

Trying to understand why I have multiple of the same size and why some sizes are skipped? ... Guess I'm one of the lucky ones that didn't get the good quality control with my set. Didn't think that the quality and my (old) favorite company would let me down... This is why I'm going to skip buying the wrenches now they skip the 19mm in the wrench set to. Come to find out they are made in China as well sad sad sad... looks like I need to find a better company. ... show more

    • I believe all 209 pieces are there! Some strange sizes, though.
I just unboxed this YUUUUGE master impact socket set from Gearwrench, that dwarfs my old Craftsman USA set. They have larger drive sizes for tiny sockets that just seems RIDICULOUS to me! There's NO NEED for the ⅜" sets to start at 5/16", & 10mm when ½" & 13mm are typical. That's a waste of 5 sockets each in shallow and deep-well. They also skip the ⅜" dr 20mm, although 20mm is in the ½" dr set. Again, on the ½" sets they start at ⅜" & 8mm! Who uses sockets that small on ½" drive?! They SHOULD have started at 9/16"/14mm, which would have saved EIGHTEEN sockets! The ½" shallow skips sizes 33-35mm, but they are present in deep-well. It doesn't look like they make those sizes to fill in your set if you need them. I CAN'T IMAGINE using my 1200 ft lb ½" impact on an 8mm bolt! I went ahead and rated it 5* because I already had the Gearwrench impact swivel sockets, & they're holding up fine for hobbyist use. Oh, I bought this from Amazon Warehouse, but the tape on the box hadn't even been cut! I put them all on Proto socket rails that are made in the USA for a reasonable price at Zoro com with a 20% coupon & free shipping over $50, & I don't see anything missing. ... show more
