  • Most complete socket set you can find for the price with no junk filler bits and screwdriver tips
Style: Mechanics Tool Set
This is the best set of sockets you're going to find that covers all the sizes you will need in 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 drives. This is coming from a Craftsman guy for the last 40 years. I wanted a craftsman socket set like this but all the ones I looked at didn't have the bigger sizes in 1/2 drive like you need. Plus they add a bunch of filler like 175 screwdriver bits that you don't need. This dewalt set is all 6 point, no crappy 12 point that rounds bolts and nuts. Big plus. Also, they include all the extensions in all lengths you need. IMO this is the best bang for your buck when looking for a quality socket set. Now, all that being said, the case is huge and best believe it is heavy. Very sturdy case with 4 buckle latches to keep it closed. Personally I don't care that it's almost 40 pounds, I can lug it. But if weight is a factor for you, you may want to compare a smaller set. This had everything I wanted so I have no issues with lugging it around. I included pics next to a tape measurer so you can see. I HIGHLY recommend this set. Great tools for a great price. Prime day deal for 156 bucks, pretty sweet. ... show more

  • Great Value
Style: Mechanics Tool Set
This is my go to carry kit. I'm actually impressed for the quality and price. I got it at $154, and it was a great deal. Worked on many projects, bush fixes in the field, etc. Rock solid kit. I do with the carry case didn't wear out so fast, as some of the sockets don't stay in place now. So it gets organized often :) However great tool that fit's the bill. Most everything you need will be in here ! Great fit to the collection. ... show more

  • A real grown-up maker.
Style: Mechanics Tool Set
This is actually the second one of these I have purchased. This one for my dad. The first was for me, and I thought I already gave it a review. When I like something this much, I try to be sure and pay it it's dues. I am now fifty-five years old. I have always done the vast majority of my own repairs. Be it washers, dryers, air conditioners, cars or anything that needs fixing. It is a principle that was passed down to me from my father, and somehow I managed to pass it right on through to my son. A gentleman Z no less. My whole life I have managed to do this on small, often piece-mealed, sets of tools. I initially stumbled across this set on a sale and scooped it up. I can't explain the difference it has made in my life. It is darn near a perfect set of tools. Anything that would seemingly make it more perfect, such as screwdrivers or open-end wrenches, would also make it entirely unwieldy, taking it further away from perfect rather than bringing it closer to perfect. Heck, maybe it is perfect. It seems like somewhere along the way there was a tool that I needed, and would have expected to find, but wasn't in there. I'm sticking with almost perfect. This set makes me feel like I am finally an adult. If you are young, buy this set, and protect every piece of it. Always keep them together and one day be proud of how every piece is still in there. Always do a thorough scan before closing the box to make sure you have everything in it's place. However, be sure to forgive yourself if your car eats one if the pieces. It's weird, but it happens. The quality on every single piece, even the box, is top notch. They even slapped a lifetime warranty on them because they think so too. I can't imagine needing to use it. These tools are tough. I changed out the timing chain on my truck and put many of them to the test. That is a big, scary, difficult job, and every piece was up to the task. The selection is also very well thought out. Every conversion, every extention and pretty much every size and shape socket is right there waiting for you. If I had a complaint, it would be a misguided one as it would be about the fact that the sockets are hard to get out of their assigned space. A dumb complaint because they would likely be scattered in a pile at some point if they hadn't designed the case this way. A minor annoyance that I will gladly live with to keep an organized box. I haven't entirely decided, but I believe it is better for the longevity of the box to pry from the end of the socket that attaches to the wrench. I think it will serve me best in the long run. The box is very solid and has four latches that click into place with ease and make for a very secure toolbox. I should probably point out that it is pretty heavy. I actually took pause getting one for my dad for that reason. He is eighty-three, and while still an animal, just not as strong as he used to be. I had to get him one, though. He has been admiring mine for awhile now, and his drool is going to wreck the finish on my sockets. Of course I am joking. The finish is really good too. I can wipe the drool right off with no ill effect. If you got this far, go ahead and take the plunge. You won't regret it. There is nothing like having really nice tools and all in one place when you are battling it out with your check engine light. I wish I had them my whole life, but I appreciate them more because I did not. ... show more

  • Stop Searching Around - The Best Tool Set to Exist
Style: Mechanics Tool Set
I read in the reviews the tool set was massive, but when it came in I STILL did not expect it to be as massive and heavy as others said. It is about half the size of a living room coffee table when closed! It has every socket I'll need and boy are the extensions for EVERY DRIVE a life saver. My brother-in-law who's an aviation mechanic loves it so much he frequently asks to my borrow my set to work on cars. This really is a bang for your buck. This is my first tool set and man am I glad I did my research and chose this over all the other brands or even over the other Dewalt sets because this one trumps them - no fillers yet not lacking in important areas. Choose this over the ones with wrenches!! ... show more

  • Large and heavy tool set that is definitely worth the money!
Style: Mechanics Tool Set
Bought to keep in my hunting truck when I'm out. Solid tool set for what I need but it is much larger than I expected (3ft when open!). Definitely great value for your money and the exterior of the case seems like it will hold up to abuse. The only small issue I see in the future, is that the sockets barely stay in place now and they will eventually wear down and lose the ability to stay when closing (I'm assuming). But 5 Stars for value for the money especially since I got it while on sale and you get far less filler tools as other sets and get tools and sockets you actually will need and use. The Pictures I added show case dimensions. ... show more

  • Might be better than my USA made Sears/Craftsman set, great knurling
Style: Mechanics Tool Set
My craftsman set is 30 years old made in USA, not what you get today. We recently got a 35 year old convertible Corvette and it needed a major project done on it. I'm a bit of a tool snob but after an employee theft, my USA -VA- Craftsman set wasn't complete enough for the task. I contemplated buying cheep individual sockets I needed locally but decided on this kit and WOW I am impressed. I don't have 30 years of use with them but they feel solid, grip fasteners very well and Dewalt (Yellow Black and Decker) has built quite a reputation for decades. The set is very complete. 5/32-1" and 4MM-24MM you are covered. The feature that really hit pay dirt is the very pronounced knurling, it is a lifesaver to be able to start a bolt or screw with just a set of tired greasy finger tips. The storage case is very impressive with positive retention of each tool in it's place. It's sturdy with 4 latches an actual hinge instead of thin piece of plastic that just bends until it breaks. Lastly, it is a good looking set, whatever that counts for. I don't know, I may throw this Dewalt set in my work truck and put the craftsman in my garage, it's that good! Lastly, and I probably don't need to put this in but they are all 6 point sockets, which are stronger and grip 6 point fasteners better than 12 point fasteners. The guy who is regularly working with 12Pt. fasteners knows this already and probably has 12Pt sockets for those fasteners he works with. ... show more

  • Nice set. Bad ratchets.
Style: Mechanics Tool Set
-The good: Oh man, this is everything you need for home repairs & general car maintenance! I really like that this thing is almost all sockets. And if they were going to add something, the hex wrenches are perfect: doesn't take up a bunch of room and they get a lot of use. The chrome finish is outstanding, too. I see these lasting forever and being passed down to the next generation. I am really impressed with this set, especially at the holiday sale price at 2/3 off the retail price. - The not-so-good: These ratchets are really bad. I don't mean cheap or badly made, just badly designed. First off, they're HEAVY! I read in a previous review that this was the case but thought, "How bad can it be?" Well, having gotten the set I gotta say, it's bad. I agree with one reviewer that the heaviness is unnecessary too. Why? There's no point in it! I've had a lot of ratchets and none of them feel like these. These things are like barbells, unwieldy with terrible balance! They just don't feel right when you hold them. Also, another reviewer said that the ratchet mechanism is not good. I agree. It feels chunky and gritty on the pull back. Maybe it needs to be oiled or takes time to break in. I'll probably give these ratchets away or keep them for emergency use. But I want to say that this is a great set because it is the largest, most comprehensive collection of sockets I have ever seen in a set like this, and it has a killer case that keeps everything together nicely. Yes, it is heavy - like, boat anchor heavy! But if you put all these sockets in one set, it's going to weigh a lot. No way around that. They could shave off a few ounces by have wrenches that are a little lighter, however. PS. Hey reviewer, Ashley M. with the video, the socket is on the wrong way. If you flip the socket and connect the other end to the ratchet it'll be a lot less wobbly; I promise, lol!!!🤣🤣🤣 ... show more
