Style: Mechanics Tool Set
This is actually the second one of these I have purchased. This one for my dad. The first was for me, and I thought I already gave it a review. When I like something this much, I try to be sure and pay it it's dues. I am now fifty-five years old. I have always done the vast majority of my own repairs. Be it washers, dryers, air conditioners, cars or anything that needs fixing. It is a principle that was passed down to me from my father, and somehow I managed to pass it right on through to my son. A gentleman Z no less. My whole life I have managed to do this on small, often piece-mealed, sets of tools. I initially stumbled across this set on a sale and scooped it up. I can't explain the difference it has made in my life. It is darn near a perfect set of tools. Anything that would seemingly make it more perfect, such as screwdrivers or open-end wrenches, would also make it entirely unwieldy, taking it further away from perfect rather than bringing it closer to perfect. Heck, maybe it is perfect. It seems like somewhere along the way there was a tool that I needed, and would have expected to find, but wasn't in there. I'm sticking with almost perfect. This set makes me feel like I am finally an adult. If you are young, buy this set, and protect every piece of it. Always keep them together and one day be proud of how every piece is still in there. Always do a thorough scan before closing the box to make sure you have everything in it's place. However, be sure to forgive yourself if your car eats one if the pieces. It's weird, but it happens. The quality on every single piece, even the box, is top notch. They even slapped a lifetime warranty on them because they think so too. I can't imagine needing to use it. These tools are tough. I changed out the timing chain on my truck and put many of them to the test. That is a big, scary, difficult job, and every piece was up to the task. The selection is also very well thought out. Every conversion, every extention and pretty much every size and shape socket is right there waiting for you. If I had a complaint, it would be a misguided one as it would be about the fact that the sockets are hard to get out of their assigned space. A dumb complaint because they would likely be scattered in a pile at some point if they hadn't designed the case this way. A minor annoyance that I will gladly live with to keep an organized box. I haven't entirely decided, but I believe it is better for the longevity of the box to pry from the end of the socket that attaches to the wrench. I think it will serve me best in the long run. The box is very solid and has four latches that click into place with ease and make for a very secure toolbox. I should probably point out that it is pretty heavy. I actually took pause getting one for my dad for that reason. He is eighty-three, and while still an animal, just not as strong as he used to be. I had to get him one, though. He has been admiring mine for awhile now, and his drool is going to wreck the finish on my sockets. Of course I am joking. The finish is really good too. I can wipe the drool right off with no ill effect. If you got this far, go ahead and take the plunge. You won't regret it. There is nothing like having really nice tools and all in one place when you are battling it out with your check engine light. I wish I had them my whole life, but I appreciate them more because I did not. ... show more

Even they can't show you the immensity of this set, when you open up this socket box as big as a baby coffin !!! Weight ? Expect back pains if you even think about carrying this about. Weighs 37 pounds, feels like 75. The very reason why there are FOUR latches on the sides !!! The value for money here is beyond overwhelming. These are brute pieces with a lust for wanting to tackle hard nuts and bolts !!! Extreme functional and multi-use items. Carrying handle of this container is well made with a sturdy grip.     • Finally a mechanic tool set with ALL 6 POINT Sockets!
Style: Mechanics Tool Set
This tool set has something unique that most other tool sets do not have: ALL SOCKETS are 6 point! Most other tool sets have a mixture of 6 point and 12 point sockets. NOTICE: this is a socket kit only. There are no wrenches included with the exception of two allen wrench sets. Any professional mechanic will tell you that 6 point sockets are the best choice for heavy duty work. They greatly minimize the chances of rounding off bolts. 12 points sockets are "ok" for light duty work. But when it comes to heavy duty work with bolts that are stubborn and difficult to remove, 6 point is the way to go. Another plus of this set is that it comes with a really good assortment of extensions for all three ratchets sizes AND the ujoints - which are super useful. Often times sets just have a few extensions and sometimes they don't even come with ujoints at all. Also, this set has pretty much all sizes you will need (both SAE and Metric) for most repair jobs in all 3 driver sizes. Some tool sets skip some sizes. This one has them in order without skipping, and all sockets have both shallow and deep socket options. The way the sockets are organized in the case is very useful tool. Each socket row has SAE on the left and the corresponding Metric sizes on the right. Super easy to find what you need. The case is also made of heavy duty plastic, unlike other tool kit cases made of flimsy plastic. I have always had great luck with Dewalt power tools, but never even thought about considering their mechanic tools. I have to say I am impressed with the quality. I am sure they are made overseas but the quality feels just like USA made tools. PROS: - All sockets are 6 point -Most sizes you will ever need are included without skipping sizes for all 3 driver sizes. All sizes have both shallow and deep sockets. -Good assortment of extensions and ujoints -Clever way of organizing sockets -Allen wrenches included in both SAE and Metric -Heavy duty case with equally strong latches. CONS: -There are NO wrenches included in this set. -The case is heavy and awkward to carry. ... show more
