I bought this Dewalt 12-Inch Miter Saw thinking I would build one small shelf. Fast forward two weekends and now my garage looks like a low budget episode of HGTV and my family thinks I know what I am doing. This saw cuts so smooth it almost makes me feel guilty for how little effort I’m putting in. Pull the trigger and suddenly I’m measuring things twice like a responsible adult. The angles come out so clean I started cutting scrap wood just to hear that satisfying sound again. It has plenty of power, doesn’t bog down, and makes me look way more skilled than I actually am. My neighbor even asked if I could help with his deck, which is both flattering and slightly concerning. Setup was simple, accuracy is spot on, and the build quality feels like it could survive the apocalypse or at least my DIY learning curve. Its also great for vinyl plank flooring with the proper blade and its size makes it perfect for almost any occasion. If you want a saw that makes you feel like a professional without the years of training, this is the one. Just be warned, you may suddenly start saying things like "let’s square that up" and "I’ve got the right blade for this." Overall this saw is great and an awesome price as well!

After watching lots of videos and comparisons, I chose the Dewalt. It was easy to set up and plenty of YouTube videos to help get started. It powered through the cuts like a warm knife through butter. Great tool. Just make sure to watch a few expert videos to get helpful tips to make it the best you can.

So far has been a great Miter saw. Operation is smooth with a safety switch to keep you from accidently setting the blade spinning. Its blased through all the stock I've thrown at it without issue, including 2x4 and 4x4s. The cuts are accurate thanks to the build in dial for angle and approach. This is a POWERFUL saw, that will get you where you need to be on your home improvement projects. Only insight I can really give is to get yourself a lengthy extension chord, the chord on this saw is pretty short, you'll want to be able to run that to somewhere.

I am loving this saw. It replaced my 1996 vintage 3 hp craftsman caste iron base 10” miter. It was hard to part with the craftsman but 30 years later the 70# saw was too hard to move and the dust collection was terrible despite all the adaptations I tried. I gave it away to a strong newbie DIY-er. Frankly i picked this saw for three reasons -price, weight which is 36# and after market dust collection options. The dust collection now is wonderful. I cannot believe the movement when the saw turns on. I do have the saw fastened down. Then I wait for jolt the from the blade start up. That craftsman caste iron base was doing its job! My hands are arthritic and I dislike the material hold down clamp. It hits right in the palm - very painful. After searching I found three imperfect solutions. The Milwaukee track saw clamps work nicely and comfortably. A ratchet track saw clamp or the woodriver t track quick release clamps work for boards 3.5” wide or greater. For small parts I made a jig using a toggle clamp. I think i have all my bases covered. The adaptation costs added up but this is my lifetime hobby and I want to keeping doing it as long as possible.

First off, this item is $100 less than the local big box store, same item. 2 day free shipping and it was. Really good packaging from DeWalt, very secure no parts or pieces falling out. Set it up on the bench and went over it with my machinist squares, spot on. Checked all the fasteners, tight. Blade tight, check! Miter cut some old aged 4x4's into a mail box post, very smooth cut and quiet for a 12" saw. First impression I was really impressed by the machine work and castings, all very clean and accurate. The supplied dog clamp is really handy freeing up your hands. The table rotates smoothly and a good positive lock on the graduations no slop. This hands down beats the competition in the comparable price range easily.
