  • Almost no warm fuzzy feeling
Out of the box, this is gauge is way off... as expected. However, other problems were seen during setup. 1) The handle screw post is either nickle/chrome plated, some sort of poorly made steel, or has/had excessive slag/plating still on it. Not sure which but it didn't give me a good feeling looking at metal falling off in a critical area. When I assembled the handle onto the bar and removed it, I found all these shavings to greet me. This is all that's left... the rest fell off somewhere. I took a macro photo of the screw threads for this review and they do look ok, so I actually feel better that it won't mess up in the future... hopefully! 2) When the gauge is installed on the bar and the handle tightened, the bar is pulled above table level with the gauge bottom flat on the table. This causes an unsafe condition and crooked cuts (angled) due to the workpiece teeter-tottering on the bar. The gauge also drops below the front edge of the saw (closest to the operator) when the gauge is slid far enough back that it leaves the surface of the table. This is also unsafe as the gauge banging on the table's front edge will interrupt the cutting process should you be cutting a wide board. To remedy this, I had to install 6 layers (one at a time) of aluminum tape until I got the gauge raised up enough to where it would not pull the bar above the level of the table, and would also not hit the front edge of the table. My table has a tapered edge and even with the tape installed, the gauge still hits a little. Not so bad that it catches like it used to so I can live with it. For those with tables that don't have a taper, this is not a good situation. Just install enough tape to just clear the edge. However, too much tape and another problem is created... the gauge will rock left to right against the table surface if the height is too much. Would be much better to cut a perfect shim instead of using tape, and probably once I install my backing board, the rocking issue will be solved. Other... the bottom of the bar is not fully milled across the width of the bar. Milling stops about 2/3rds across. The surface is flat across the width, so not really an issue. The t-slot washer doesn't fit well. I'm using it on a Milwaukee saw so unsure how it would fit on a Delta. Allen head width adjustment screws come loose... might need some locktite. After I got the issues taken care of, alignment was easy. The gauge has 3 sections you can use for alignment of 90 degrees, and both sides of 45 degrees. Each section handles a span of degrees and adjustment is done by loosening two phillip head screws, making adjustments and tightening the screws again. Quite simple and effectively a good design. For the most part, the gauge is quite decent and workable with a good comfortable handle. You WILL have to tweak it due to it's issues though so look forward to it! I've owned Delta tools for 40+ years and they've always served me well. Now that Delta is made in China, as it has been for many years, all bets are off and you take your chances. We can only hope their namesake will help them do a better job. Delta, small things count! ... show more

  • Solid but flawed product
I have a couple of issues with this product. When I first attempted to screw in the handle, the threads did not engage easily, and I had to use a wrench to tighten it down. Fortunately, after that, the handle tightened and loosened normally. I enjoyed using the preset angles and found them very accurate. However after a few hours I discovered the tiny screw and washer had backed out of the metal cylinder that rides on a leaf of springy metal, and the little cylinder disappeared into a pile of sawdust. So much for the presets! I will continue to use the miter gauge anyway, and will have to fall back to checking the miter gauge alignment frequently. ... show more

  • DELTA Deluxe Miter Gauge works good in old delta table saw.
I was hesitant to buy this miter gauge because I have a 30 year old delta table saw. But my old gauge fell on the floor and broke, so I took the chance. I was pleased that this gauge fit the guide slots perfectly, being 3/4 inches wide and the thickness of the bar was exact also. There was only one modification. At the end opposite the gauge there is something like a wheel that must be removed. New saws must have an undercut to the slots that the wheel fits in. My old saw does not. Otherwise it was a perfect replacement. ... show more

  • Good replacement for cheap miter gauge.
The reason I only gave the gauge 4 stars has to do with the fact that the front edge of the miter gauge protractor hits the edge of saw’s table so you have to lift the gauge up a bit to feed wood for a crosscut. As soon as the body of the protractor is on the table, it works fine. The problem is not with the miter gauge, but the design of the DeWalt 745 saw. The table is small and the gauge starts out hanging in the air until you push it far enough to sit fully on the table. No matter, it’s still vastly better than the gauge supplied with the saw! ... show more

  • Very pleased for the price
Using this on my Delta 36-979. I recommend teflon tape over the three inset screws to get rid of play. There was almost none. Just one piece removed any play there was. The 90° was dead on, but both 45° stops were off by almost a degree. It was ready enough to adjust the stops. 30 and 60 degree stops were within .1 degree after setting the 45° stops. I found no issues with the machining. Weight feels good. Fence face is very flat. Handle screwed in and tightened and loosened easily. ... show more

  • quality control issues from manufacturer
good value for the price, seems to be well made except for the part where the handle screws into the bar, the threads was not correct and would not work. Luckily i had a correct size tap and die and was able to fix the issue myself and not have to go thru the return process.

  • Handle piece missing, guide stem doesnt match item description
The black handle is missing the piece that screws it onto the miter. The stem width is wider than the Amazon catalog description. Wider stem means it wont fit my saw table grove.

  • Solid, accurate gauge with great features at affordable price
I wasn't expecting this to be such a high-end gauge at that low price. I removed the roller disk because my table saw is 40 years old and didn't have a T slot. It comes off with a screw. The hex screws (photo) built into the side of the bar were a bonus and can tighten your gauge to fit your slot. The main gauge is nice and heavy with great positive stops built in. This was perfect for my old saw with a 3/4 inch slot. ... show more
