This is a nice 1500 W heater, with an attractive appearance, a detailed and informative display, a nice remote control, a '3D flame' feature and a 'fire crackling' feature. It also has a safety feature that shuts it off if it's tipped over, but it has some problems with carpet. As far as heating goes, the device offers high-heat, low-heat and fan settings. The target temperature can be set, and the heater will run until the target temperature is reached. It heats quickly and the noise from about 3' away at sitting ear level is about 42 dB. There's an oscillating function to spread the hot air over a wider area, a timer setting to run the heater for a limited amount of time and an 'eco' mode that aims to keep the temperature in a typical range. The '3D flame' mode does look something like a fire, and provides a nice ambience. The 'crackling sound' is less convincing, and I prefer to keep it off. The tip-over protection is a good feature to have, but a fairly hard surface is required to ensure that the sensor on the bottom of the heater detects that the heater is standing up. When I used it directly on carpet, the sensor prevented it from running, so I had to put a flat surface on the carpet and then put the heater on it. The design could use improvement here, as I'd imagine use on carpet is very common. The remote control works well for controlling the heater, and is a compact, flat design. The touch controls on the front of the heater work fine too. One design choice I like is the use of a circular base, as opposed to a rounded square used by other heaters I've used. A circular base allows the oscillation to be stopped anywhere, without leaving the oscillating part and the base at different angles. The manual shows the display using °C, but the display itself uses °F. The latter is of course expected in the U.S., but I had hoped there was some way to configure it. As far as I can tell, there isn't. Overall, this is a nice heater and I can recommend it, with the caveat that it needs a flat surface.

I purchased for my bedroom, but the carpet is too soft to activate the safety switch on the bottom. I have to put something under it to get it to turn on which completely ruins the aesthetic.

As soon as I turned this on, things really started to heat up, literally! The heat was near-instant, and the room I put this in got very comfortable, very quickly. This space heater is well-built, and it does not take up a lot of space, given the tower design. It has a tipover protection switch on the bottom, which I like for added safety. Putting it on an overly thick rug? You "might" need to put something hard and flat under it so the switch doesn't engage and turn it off, but in my case I didn't even need to. In fact, it has another safety feature that very few other space heaters do - it has an additional, proper "rocker" power switch on the back. That should prevent someone or perhaps some pet from accidentally turning on your heater by inadvertently using the touch switch on the front. I like that. This has the optional "mini fireplace" on the lower front. When not activated, you can't even see it is there - it just looks like part of the sleek front panel. When activated, it illuminates and is actually animated and you can see moving flames and and a glowing wood stack. That feature has really grown on me. I like it. And it even has optional crackling sounds, although with the fan blowing, the details are a bit muted. Nonetheless, it is a nice visual effect that you can choose to turn on or off at your discretion. This space heater has pretty much all the other features you'd want, including oscillation, timed settings, thermostat control, and a remote. I really like this unit. I would not only use it for myself, I would absolutely give it as a gift. Recommended.

Another reviewer mentioned not being able to use it in their bedroom because of their carpet being too soft and the safety feature tripping as a result, so I was a little worried because the room for which this was intended does have carpet. But the carpet is very low pile, so I haven't had any trouble with that. This thing puts out some serious heat. I really like the thermostat settings and that if it's plugged in and switched on (but not running) it turns the current temperature. There is also a timer setting. It's interesting how there are so many settings but still so simple to use. Aesthetically, more than anything, I do wish it was a little taller. But its size has not kept it from quickly warming up the room. I haven't really bought into the crackling sound - it definitely sounds recorded, so I've left it off. Maybe I'll give it another go when I'm feeling a little cozier. The light from the fake fire does provide some nice ambiance.
