  • It is what I wanted
My previous Dell got damaged and would not access the internet. It was about time to upgrade. I bought this Dell and it works as intended.

  • DOES NOT WORK BRAND NEW OUT OF BOX
What did I not like? That it does not work immediately out of the box. Despite connecting it to the also new also Dell monitor exactly as shown in the pathetic instructions all I could get was a "no signal" message on the screen. Then two quality hours on phone with a Dell customer service tech whose English was horrible provided a determination that it was the monitor. It was not, the monitor is fine. Called back and got a different tech that insisted I had everything connected wrong - despite it being connected exactly as instructed. Result of connecting the way he instructed - the same "no signal." Then he wanted me to get into the case which of course would have voided the warranty, so I refused. He then declared it to be the motherboard and a service tech would contact me in a few days to set up an appointment to come and repair the never used boat anchor computer. But hey who expects a $3000 total expenditure to work when you get it? I DO!! Having to look at the boat anchor and the empty boxes (may need them for a return) for days waiting for a tech to come "fix" a supposedly brand new computer and wondering what else may go wrong with the lemon - such fun! You folks need an option for a zero rating. UPDATE: Dell wants to repair the lemon, scheduled an all day window when tech would arrive and at end of day told me oops, not coming today. Try again tomorrow, hang out waiting all day! Amazon customer service told me nothing they can do, deal with Dell. Be warned. Update 2 Dell approved tech came to house could not get computer to work - Dell had sebt him with only a motherboard which did not fix the problem. He informed me the specs I ordered more or less matched what is in the boat anchor computer but NOT what dell has on file under the service tag. Amazon refuses to replace told me to contact seller - ULTRA Computers. I did. They will only process a refund, not replacement. Guy I talked to let it slip that the service tag does not match because it was "customized" by a "third party" meaning I probably do not have a warranty from Dell. With any luck I will actually get a refund on the 2200 bucks I paid for this "third party" boat anchor. ... show more

  • Great Machine with One Exception
Overall, this is an excellent computer. It is fast, relatively quiet (although it sounds like it is going to take off occasionally), and very capable. There was one glaring flaw. The video did not work right out of the box. After spending and hour or so chatting with a Dell rep, they decided I needed service on the machine. I chose onsite service since we live in the sticks and it would be a pain to send it in (onsite service is part of the warranty on this computer). The service rep was good at keeping us in the loop as things progressed and showed up as expected. Upon opening the case, he discovered that things weren't even plugged into the right spots on the system board. He replaced the system board and now everything is working as expected. I have been an IT professional for over 40 years and generally prefer Dell computers. They are typically very good. I don't know who put this particular machine together, but they either didn't know what they were doing or were having a really bad day. ... show more

  • Fan is quite loud
Recommend checking your hardware components on arrival. Mine came with an inferior graphics card to the one I ordered and had to exchange it. No performance issues, but fan is incredibly loud when the computer is tasked with doing anything remotely strenuous. *Update* computer began crashing after 6 months and now will not even turn on. Recommend looking elsewhere. ... show more

  • Refund denied by falsifying the condition of the return
The representative of the company misrepresented actual returned condition of the product. The only marring of the computer shell was 4 superglue marks that held the WIFI antenna in place. They used this reasoning in order to justify a 50% REDUCTION of the original price ($2099.00) as a restocking fee. I only had this computer for less than a month before it started to fail. I would strongly suggest that potential buyers go elsewhere than Dell in general, because they do not stand with their product, nor do they have any real customer service willing to uphold customer relations. Buyer you have been warned. ... show more

  • Needs to Improve the Continuous Loud Noise Coming Out of the Desktop
The media could not be loaded. I was testing the Dell XPS8960 desktop just to make sure it works. Then, it started to make a loud continuous annoying noise. I was not playing a memory-intensive application or video-intensive game. I was running Roxio to convert the mpg file to mp4 and throughout the entire conversion process, it went on making that loud continuous noise. I am returning the product - it is defective. ... show more
