  • Noisy, but otherwise excellent after 3 weeks
When in 2021 my work desktop crashed and was not-recoverable leaving me stranded with only what was available on the shelves, all overpriced machines (north of $600, easily $1000) and without the expansion bays, I was worried. I need a work machine, for word processing, internet, spreadsheets, etc. (I do not game.) I took a chance on this for under $200. Been in use for maybe 2-3 weeks, a couple hundred hours I'd guess, and it's working like a champ. The drives work. The 2TB drive is a really nice feature, and while older design and a little bit chatty/noisy (I can live with that), a 2TB internal hard drive alone costs as much as this computer. The machine is not lighting fast, but it is fast enough for daily common usage tasks. I was a long-time holdout against Windows 10. But my hand is dealt. This came with a DVDRW burner, media drives for cameras (SD card, etc.), and 4 USB drives on the front, and several on the back, and also came with old school circular keyboard/mouse slots. So far Win10 is fine for my basic needs. The computer came with a keyboard and mouse but I'm using my old ones. Oh, and this tower has expansion capability for 2 additional internal hard drives. So I now have 3 hard drives on this machine. A small tower with excellent expansion, 2TB hard drive, DVDRW, every feasible media port made since 2000, and a copy of WIN10 for under $200; this was a screaming good deal. I am probably going to buy another and have it set up as a backup... Pro tip: I am not a computer nerd and I felt overwhelmed. I paid Best Buy $200 for their Geek Squad services for 1 year. That was a good investment. They attempted to diagnose and fix my old machine, which was unfixable. Then when I bought this, they set it up, transferred data from old machine, etc. put a heavy duty power supply in this machine ($20 part), etc. Best Buy "built" me a sturdier more useful machine, and did in 1 day per machine, what would have taken me a week or more to struggle with and they surely did it better and more correct. If you are computer challenged like me, look into that program. ... show more

  • Great budget machine... ran great out of the box!
I'm going to college and majoring in information technology, so I am taking a bunch of courses that have converted to online due to the 'Rona. I only owned laptops but our course is about computer components and a lot of work on desktops. I didn't want to spend a lot but I am better hands on vs working on a screen. So I decided to buy a used desktop to be able to open up and use as a learning tool. This works great for that purpose, the case opens easily and the components are clean, easily visible, plus good quality. What suprised me is how well the system ran and it was basically plug and play to get started. Mine came in a Sunset Micro box and had a user's guide. It connected to my wifi quickly and blows my laptops away with speed. It's a great value, for $179, I got a case in very good condition, very minor dings and scratches. Hopefully it will last, but I'll be able to fix it if it breaks when I get done with my college courses. ... show more

  • Very clean and looks brand new.
The computer was really clean and had that new electronic device smell when I opened it. It was in such good condition that the person I got it for didn't know it wasn't brand new. Mine came with a generic mouse and keyboard combo, which I didnt expect to be included, as it wasnt listed anywhere but its cool nonetheless. What it did come with that was listed though, was the usb wifi adapter and the internal 2tb hard disk, which in my case was a 2tb Hitachi disk with 7200rpm and 64mb of cache. I'm not sure if each of these has the same type of disk, though I'm sure they're all still the size listed. The computer works great in action, and by action, I mean internet browsing, moving files like pictures and whatnot, and light gaming(things like emulators, simple-looking indie games and TF2). It does what I wanted it to do perfectly fine, and I'm happy with that. There are 4 pci slots, with 2 being x16 (for things like graphics cards) and the other 2 were x1 (for things like wifi cards or usb cards). The 8gb of ram it comes with are enough for the things its used for. I've had this for almost a month and there haven't been any problems so far, and it doesn't seem that there will be any. This was worth the money for me. Definitely would recommend to someone who's looking for a computer for browsing, some light gaming, and one that can be upgraded to suit your needs as they change. ... show more

  • Excellent value!
I am a fairly advanced computer user that has built my own systems and I can do all my own hardware replacements/install, etc, but I am thrifty, too. I like to game a little (old-school RPG mostly, some shooter), and I listen to a LOT of music. I also regularly work with 120k+ word RTF files, which anyone who has done that knows can seriously drag down some computers. TL;DR on this system? BUY IT! You won't regret it! This machine is an AWESOME value. First, I got better than was promised in the item description, and the computer is spotless inside and out. The exact model I got was an Optiplex 7010 with i5-3570 at 3.4ghz, a tiny little bluetooth/wifi USB plug that works MUCH better than the onboard bluetooth/wi-fi in my last system did, 2TB hard drive, 8 GB memory on four sticks, and plenty of interior room to add more drives or a graphics card later if I decide to. The power supply isn't impressive, but I can upgrade that myself very easily and cheaply if I decide it needs it. Right now it works perfectly as is and right out of the box it has plenty of speed and power to run a graphics-heavy game like Dragon Age or edit a 200k word file, and I'm getting great sound with my music, though I may yet tweak the sound properties a bit to coax a little more volume out of it. My old system was obviously louder with the same music program (WinAmp) and speakers (Logitech) playing the same songs, but that is absolutely the ONLY thing I have found that isn't excellent. Overall, this is an amazing deal! ... show more
