My daughter purchased a Dell Inspiron 3530 (15.6-inch) in the February 2024 for college. In just a few weeks, the keyboard began malfunctioning—certain keys wouldn’t press down. She couldn’t be without her laptop, so we weren’t able to send it in for repair until March/April 2024 during spring break. Dell returned it marked as “repaired,” noting that they had readjusted components under the keyboard. It worked for a short time, but the same issue returned a few months later. We sent it in again in March 2025, and this time Dell replaced the keyboard entirely. It functioned for about a year—never perfectly, but well enough to use. Now, in February 2026, the keyboard is failing again for the third time. Yes, the laptop is out of warranty, but the fact that the exact same problem has recurred every time raises real concerns about whether this particular unit—or possibly the model itself—is defective. After looking at reviews for the Inspiron 3530, it’s clear that multiple customers have reported similar keyboard issues. Given Dell’s reputation and the fact that my husband and I have owned several Dell computers over the years, we expected better support and reliability. Unfortunately, we have yet to hear anything from Dell about how they plan to address this ongoing issue. We are currently shopping for three new computers, including one for our daughter, but it’s hard to justify choosing Dell again if they can’t offer a meaningful solution for what appears to be a recurring defect.     • Misleading listing — came with Windows in S Mode, not regular Windows

The laptop runs well, and the hardware is solid — but I’m giving 2 stars because the listing didn’t mention that this comes with Windows 11 Home in S Mode. S Mode prevents you from installing any apps that aren’t from the Microsoft Store, including Chrome, downloaded programs, or anything outside Microsoft’s ecosystem. That wasn’t disclosed anywhere in the description. On top of that, the Microsoft Store wasn’t working on my unit, so I couldn’t even switch out of S Mode — I’m stuck. I also ordered Platinum Silver and received black. It functions, but it wasn’t what I expected or paid for. ... show more

I'm not ready to say this is a Dell winner. I have owned 3 Dell desktop computers, and this is my second Dell laptop, I appreciate that this one does not need a cooling fan to sit on as my prior one needed. I don't care for the Macafee security software and will use my preferred software once the 30-day trial ends. I was disappointed that there is not an ethernet port, but I am/was prepared to use the HDMI to connect to my router. Overall, having just had this one day my review is basic at this point. The touch screen is not a selling point for me I like a clean screen so my thoughts on that is a non-issue. ... show more
