    • Good value but needs clarification
I needed a reliable pc to replace a very noisy, prone to crash existing one and this purchase fit the bill. For around $400, it’s a good deal but there’s a few caveats that go with that. As for a gaming platform it lacks any certain essentials. the positives: quiet and small form factor reliable processor and sufficient ram (16gb) for the price good customer service although i haven’t needed it Nice keyboard and mouse A great selection of how to videos for those less familiar with computing environments The less than positive: The OS drive is a 100gb ssd. The user will need to constantly monitor this space as it will fill up fast with temp files and other data that the user may not be aware of. Recommend replacing this with a 500gb ssd the storage drive is a 500gb drive. Considering that there’s few restrictions on application size anymore because storage is cheap, this is not even close to sufficient space. Recommend a3tb or greater drive which btw can be purchased for under $100. No wireless card and the wireless dongle is outdated (300mps, 2.4ghz) no support for 5ghz No room for expansion inside the case. while the mother board has 4 SATA connections, one is used by the dvd drive and the 4th is used by an unknown device. the only option for adding more drives is to use externals. 01/21. I had contacted Blair before this review was published to ask why and they sent me a 5ghz dongle without being requested to. Awesome customer support! Am underpowered GPU. Bear in mind this is being marketed as an introductory gaming machine. The card installed is likely sufficient to handle most non-shooters. I’m very satisfied with what i purchased because i knew what i was purchasing, but for folks new to computing, if you purchase this pleases be aware that you may need to purchase additional peripherals to bring this pc up to speed as a full-speed gaming machine. My modifications: Once i know i can safely reinstall the OS and activate it I will replace the ssd with a 500gb ssd. This has proved to be ample space for the OS and any temp or installation files that come with downloads and installs. i removed the 500gb storage drive and replaced it with 6tb drive. considering some of the programs i own are greater than 70gb in size each, this was essential. I replaced the graphics card with an Nvidia gtx1050 ti with 32gb onboard memory. This should be sufficient to run everything i own or purchase in the next few years. I also added a 4tb portable hard drive for backups and system tools i can use on other machines when required. Replace the 300mhz wireless dongle with one that works with both 2.4 and 5ghz networks for faster throughout. If you’re familiar with the shortfalls and are ok with a 6th generation (or possibly older) processor then this is an ok buy. If you're looking for a gaming computer scroll on to the next one unfortunately this one is not all what it's up to be .we had to contact customer service the ad says that it has ddr4 after purchasing and reviewing it only has DDR3 . This would be a good computer for home use only or maybe to play solitaire or a couple card games .my son purchased this with his money and it was not what it was meant to be we contacted customer service about the DDR 4 thing and all they said is it was Amazon's bad for posting that and that they would get with Amazon to change it.     • Excellent computer and accessories!
The computer arrived quickly and safely - it came a day early, and was packed very well for protection. The bundled accessories were a real nice touch - gaming keyboard, mouse, and headset, all top quality. The computer has had no problems - it performs as advertised. I bought a gaming computer, not because I do gaming, but because I do 4K video editing. The computer I had couldn't handle the files. This one, with the 16 GB of RAM and a discrete gaming card, handles the video with ease. Though this machine has the same fine processor as my last one, the extra RAM and the video card make all the difference. The machine had Win 10 Home, and almost no bloatware - a real blessing! Also, the solid state hard drive, in addition to a regular hard drive (sorry about the lack of all the technical language for this stuff), really helps speed things up as well. This is my second re-conditioned computer from Blair, and I can genuinely say they have delivered a quality machine that has no issues, ready to run like a scared rabbit right out of the box. A young friend out of state, that I met on-line gaming, had a computer failure. He's rather strapped financially, so I decided to buy this for him and have it shipped directly. From his comments, the machine is perfectly capable for the type of MMO game that we play, but probably not powerful enough for really hard core gaming that requires expensive graphics power. Would have given 5 stars, as the price was right and the machine came undamaged and in good shape. But it was missing a cord to connect to his monitor, which he ended up having to buy. ... show more

The optiplex is a really good platform for a starter pc. However, the graphics card that came with it was not the same as the one listed, and it doesn’t have an hdmi port. It only has a display port, that Doesn’t fit the included hdmi cable. I had to wait for a display port adapter to arrive instead of setting up the pc on my daughters birthday like I had planned. Once it was set up with the additional adapter, the keyboard and mouse wouldn’t work because the cords were already shorted out from the way they were packaged. I wasn’t expecting the best keyboard and mouse out there, but I wanted them to work until I could get her something better. Overall my daughter is happy with her starter pc but there were some serious problems with this listing and I kind of feel scammed. ... show more
