  • A microphone that ACTUALLY works
My girlfriend and I recently dove head first into the world of paranormal investigation. We've done countless hundreds, possibly even thousands of hours of research and have finally found a microphone that ACTUALLY works. I'm not going to throw shade at any other manufacturers but basically this was the fourth microphone we purchased. The first 3 were the same design (plug and play shotgun microphone) but failed miserably. We couldn't get ANY audio on the other microphones and literally went through a 2 month process of purchases and returns before we came accross this precision piece of audio engineering. This microphone blew us away, the audio gains and clarity we got from this device are incredible, it was able to pick up things from various parts of the house that we couldn't even hear with our own ears. It's a super solidly built unit that definitely sets our audio capturing to the level we need it to be at. The 2 most impressive things about this unit is the suspension mounts and the battery life. Most of the mics we tried had these flimsy floppy suspension mounts that made me feel like they would drop the mic if I walked too fast. This unit comes with a dual suspension mount that's definitely not flimsy at all but still provides cushioning to keep the unit protected. Now as far as the battery goes, this thing is unreal, 50 hours!!! We got a rig set up to do shots with out cellphones (thanks smallrig) and have a 40,000 mah 65w high output battery bank for extra recording time for our devices. The battery on this mic is such that I never have to plug it in when we're exploring and investigating, most of that power goes to our fill light and cellphone where it's really needed. We honestly never have to worry about the microphone losing power on our excursions which is definitely convenient. Could not be any happier with the purchase of this product. Thank you so much diety, you guys got 2 customers for life. ... show more

  • Great clean mic - on camera or boom
I was looking for a good on-camera microphone for my Panasonic GH5 and caught a whole bunch of YouTube reviews of this mic. Everyone says it's awesome, and its closest competitor is the Rode VideoMic Pro Plus, which is $100 more. It has an internal battery which you charge with a USB-C cable (included) and the battery lasts for over 50 hours. +20 dB of stepless gain via a dial on the back end of the mic allows you to get exactly the levels you need, and there's a high-pass/low-cut button with 75 and 150 Hz options. With the Rycote Duo-Lyre shock-mount and included 3.5mm little connector cable you have an awesome on-camera mic, and the foam windscreen with "Deity" printed on the side lets everyone know you're not just another Rode groupie. If you're curious about this mic, I encourage you to check out the Deity Microphones website for all the juicy details, and one more piece of advice: shell out for the Deity V-Mic D3 Pro Location Kit, which gives you the mic, as well as the Rycote Duo-Lyre shock-mount on a pistol grip, and the D-XLR phantom power to 3-volts 3.5mm adapter, which lets you convert the 3.5mm cable into an XLR (and converting phantom power to plug-in power), and the pistol grip can be used handheld or screwed onto the end of a boom pole, making this an amazingly versatile and affordable microphone for filmmaking and location sound recording. ... show more

  • Hardly used and will not hold a charge
UPDATE: I've had my replacement for a good half a yr-yr now, idk? Yeah, been about exactly a yr now I guess. Wow. Anyway, it doesn't share the same problem, it charges and turns on every time. I've done several projects with it and yeah I'm happy with it. The replacement came with a windsock when the first one didn't so maybe the first one wasn't new? Idk. Whatever, I like this one. Thanks. ORIGINAL: I ordered this D3 Pro mic on 9/21/19 and only used a few times around my apartment on simple videos, mainly tests to see if it and other new gear worked. Literally hooked it up 3 different times, swear to God. Last time being a few weeks to a month ago. Yes, it seemed to work just fine with my Sony a6400 and I didn't notice any sort of problem whatsoever. I had much improved sound and honestly I like the way it looks. Until today when I hooked it up for the 4TH TIME EVER. Having actually wrote and planned an official video to film today, I get it out of the case and set up on cam on tripod and the D3 Pro is dead. That made no sense to me, but whatever, I charged it for over an hour. The moment I unplug it, it's dead and cannot be turned on. I've since repeated those steps and nada. I'm extremely bummed. Guess I won't film anything today because my new $200 product has a battery that didn't even last one hour altogether. I understand a battery slowing draining itself out, but not this crap. Maybe I should have went with the half-priced $100 D3 mic so I could actually replace the battery. Sorry, getting mad again. I really do hope it was just a super rare defect because after spending 47 minutes on the phone with Amazon they are making a one-time exception and sending me a replacement. I'm really afraid the next one will do the same. I don't know how to feel about this. I was 100% onboard with this mic all the way until this little stunt with the battery. Anyone else have anything like this happen? ... show more
