Dee Zee Tool Box - Red Label Chest. Constructed of heavy duty Brite-Tread aluminum. Black Tread powder coat, provides a gloss black finish while it protects and prevents oxidation. Crown style lid with a full pan double-V stiffener for superior rigidity. Other features: lockable stainless steel paddle handles, dampened gas shocks, closed cell foam gasket, and self- adjusting strikers. Removable plastic tool tray to help keep small items organized. A dampened gas shock ensures the lid opens smoothly at a controlled rate, while a durable plastic tray with molded dividers gives you a way to organize smaller tools and items keeping them separated from larger items in your toolbox.

The box is very light weight but sturdy enough for light duty use. Mine arrived with a large dent along one corner/edge. The box it came in did not appear to be damaged.

Nice looking other than the 2 dents that it came with. The packaging did not show any damage. I did not file a claim since I need to use it right away. At least I won't feel as bad as I would went I put a dent in it. Very light weight. It will easily dent. I did read in other reviews that I am not alone in recieving a damaged product. Haven't bought a Deer Zee product in many years - They have really lightened up their materials. ... show more

As others have pointed out this is not heavy duty aluminum diamond plate but the price range falls in line with other brands in this particular class. There were some dents I had to press or hammer out with a rubber mallet upon delivery as the shipping carton they use is not sufficient to fully protect it. Some I could not fully clean up but not worth the hassle of returning. So far it is functionally OK other then the lid sticking a little in hot weather from expansion. I've not had it in the sun long enough to comment on UV resistance. The paperwork includes an offer to send in $11.00 for an extra set of keys. After two months the check was still not cashed so I had to void the check and needless to say I never received the keys. ... show more

Do Not Buy This Box - Not Weatherproof This box has 2 holes in the bottom; if you place the box on your truck bed, these holes allow water to enter the box. Reply from Dee Zee below: "We have received your claim and have carefully considered your request for a replacement toolbox. I regret to inform you that we are unable to approve this claim and it has been denied. The two holes on the bottom of the toolbox are part of the design to help keep the toolbox from retaining and holding water. My quality department has reviewed the pictures concerning the lid and has determined that it is not a deformity in the lid but a dent/damage to the box. The warranty for the weather stripping has a one-year warranty on it as it is considered a component part." ... show more

It's just the right size if a little too big. My truck bed is a 5.5ft length and I lost some with this box but it holds so much. I have boots, an ax, jumper cables, tool set, tow strap, bungees, tow hitch receiver, and other things. There's still plenty of room left over. The mounting is questionable, just 2 small but thick sheet metal screws. Thing is the aluminum box is so thin anything bigger to mount would be overkill as it would rip the bottom out before the bolts would break. It's almost too thin. It's dents really easily and the struts are slow to open the lid. Other than that it's great and suits my needs. ... show more
