I'm a natural ginger, so I've got extremely sensitive skin. (Even had to be treated for sun allergy when I was a kid.) Most polyester gives me a rash, (sometimes even a bloody rash) so I generally stick with natural fabric. There are different types of polyester, and I seem to be okay with some (higher quality?) types, but since most of them 'rash me out,' I'm hesitant to try anything that has poly in it. I'm disabled now, so I use a wheelchair and also get cold very easily. since not walking effects my circulation. It helps to keep my legs covered, but the only small "throw" blanket I had was made of rather rough material, and heavier than I needed. So when I had to use the old one, I'd end up all sweaty—not a good thing when it's difficult to get in and out of the shower. Meanwhile, Sis has a bunch of beautiful throws, which I envy but can't touch without instant itching madness. So I kept looking for something that would work, and started an Amazon list of possibilities. This one was at the top of the list. I loved the furry texture and blue tie-dye pattern, but that word—"polyester"—made me wary. Finally, I decided to give it a try. I figured, if it made me itch, I could return it. Sis wasn't keen on the idea, since she's the one who'd have to take it to Kohls, and every time we've returned something there, they've messed it up, EVERY SINGLE TIME—and based on past experience, she was sure buying this was a waste of time, with a resulting itchy rash in my future. But since I'd just had my birthday, she reluctantly indulged me. When it arrived, I carefully removed it from the wrapper. My hands were already cringing, conditioned to fear the material. But it was so unbelievably soft—and nothing else. I kept waiting for the itching to begin, but it never happened. I actually wondered for a moment if it was some kind of "reverse hypochondria," with me wanting so badly for it to work that I somehow mentally blocked the itchiness. Nope. I sat next to it for hours, stroking it with one hand, waiting to see if my skin started turning red. Nothing happened. So I now have the softest blanket I've ever owned! I don't even know how to describe the exquisite texture in words. It's the perfect weight: heavy enough to keep me comfortably warm without being too hot, but light enough not to put pressure on my stick-like legs. I told Sis it's like the perfect "Mama Bear" blanket! It's also the perfect size for my chair, and...have I mentioned how incredibly SOFT it is? When not in use, it's folded over the back of my recliner, and I pet it like a cat every time I pass by. I keep burying my face in its incredible fluffiness, and rubbing my cheek against it. Sheer bliss! Sis has all these beautiful throws, in gorgeous colors and patterns, which I envy but can never touch. I guess you could say she collects them. Now I finally have one for me! It may seem like a small thing, and it's probably petty, but when one sibling gets something that the other can't have—well, it just doesn't seem fair. She still has more of them than I do—but mine is softer, and I think it's prettier, too. We haven't washed it yet, so if it totally falls apart when we do, I'll revise this review. It really hasn't shed, other than two small pieces of lint that I think were already loose when it was packaged. When I opened it, neither appeared to be attached to the throw itself, so it was probably something that came off in the factory during packing. I have cats, so I worried about them getting on it and causing snags. A number of other reviewers said their pets loved it. None of my cats seem to like it, though. I think it's because it's a bit slippery when they try to walk across it. I only have one lap cat, and he freaked when he first jumped up on it. But I keep a small cushion for him to lay on when he's in my lap—his weight creates too much pressure otherwise, and he gets a bit too enthusiastic when he "kneads bread"— and as soon as he was on his pillow, he relaxed. As the evening wore on, he did res his head on the throw, but didn't seem inclined to do more than that. That's just fine with me. I'm on a fixed income, so I can't just buy whatever I want, whenever I want it. But this throw remains at the top of my throw blanket list, and I might just invest in another one, sometime in the future. Maybe more than one. So I'd like to encourage anyone like myself, who has issues co-existing with polyester, to take a chance on this throw. I'm not a doctor or a prophet, so I can't guarantee that this will be benign with everyone else, but as the most skin-sensitive person I know, personally, I'd say this throw is worth taking a chance on. ... show more

I bought this for my new chihuahua because he burrows and I wanted a white blanket for him so we don’t accidentally sit on him. First of all, it’s incredibly soft and now I have to buy more because the entire family wants them. I don’t like doggie smell, so I have now washed this three times, and I was worried about the “long” fur matting right away. I wash is on cold by itself with about a teaspoon of Lysol brand new day and a tsp of liquid fabric softener. I dry it by itself on air with no fabric softener. It’s still perfect, no shedding, no matting, no stains, and just as soft as when I first bought it. ... show more

Welp, as many of the other reviews have stated..my cat stole my blankie! It is super soft and warm for sitting on the couch. Jackie won’t stay off of it so I’ll have to get one or two more. The cream white is perfect and Jackie likes the softness of both sides. Not the greatest stitching on the edges, but it doesn’t look bad if you’re not too picky. Squeak E. Poo (Squeaks) prefers rougher things so he is not a fan.. We definitely recommend! Especially for $13 something! Love this blanket! Oh, and we haven’t noticed any shedding! (who can tell with all the long-haired cat hair lol j/k..no blanket shedding!) ... show more

These blankets are very light weight but are perfect if you need something if you are a little cold. I have washed them 3 times already and they are perfect. Wash in either cold or warm and dry on refresh cycle or if your dryer doesn't have a refresh button just dry for about 20 minutes and they are great! ... show more

I just received the product and unwrapped it. It is what I expected it to be. You should know the quality of anything that is "polyester;" so you should have reasonable expectations. It feels similar to cat fur. It is very fluffy and soft. I don't recommend subjecting this kind of fabric to washing and drying. It will most likely become matted, and the label even warns that it might. Please remember faux fur and simulated textures don't have the durability and properties of real wool, cotton, fur, cashmere, or silk. The label doesn't say to dry-clean it. I got a dark color, so washing wouldn't be a problem; just an occasional fluff and tumble in a "no-heat" dryer, to maintain the fluffiness and remove any dust accumulation. Get a more durable and washable fabric, if you think it will get stained or dirty. I will us it as a throw cover over an antique camelback loveseat. The loveseat is outdated; but this will modernize it, with throw pillows. I'll order another for a pretty throw for the bed. I will not use it like a regular blanket or throw, just for aesthetics. I really like it for the purpose I purchased it for! I give it 5-stars for the value and feel. ... show more

I have bought 4 of these blankets so far. Hold up awesome in the wash. I hang to dry. Do not sure about drying, but do put in dryer with NO heat after it’s dry. It’s super soft, warm. You can’t go wrong with this blanket.

I bought this for my cats, and immediately out of the package, they love it. It is very thin and lightweight, but is extremely warm and SO soft. This may not be the best option for home decor, as the fur pieces are spread out and you can clearly see the netting behind the fur. But for cats? Perfection.
