  • An awesome and hilarious game, worthy of the man in red himself!
Platform For Display: Xbox One
He's crude, he's crass, he's the one and only Deadpool. Deadpool has been a staple of comics for years, starting out as a villain before becoming an anti-hero, the Merc with the Mouth is popular for his fourth wall breaking and his itchy trigger fingers. While he's been in games before, this is finally his own game. More specifically, this is an upgraded port of the PS3/Xbox 360 game, which includes the DLC from the previous versions. If you like hack-and-slash games, then this is a must-buy. The story for Deadpool is that he wants his own game, so after sending an..."explosive" proposal to High Moon Studios, he gets his wish. He's hired to kill a nasty criminal, unwary of the dark plot unfolding. The story more or less boils down to the whole "Stop the Evil" but with Deadpool at the helm, hilarity ensues. Gameplay, as mentioned, is a hack-and-slash beat-em-up, very much in the vein of God of War or Devil May Cry. Deadpool must carve his way through whole armies of bad guys. He starts with just his trademark katanas and pistols, but more weapons can be unlocked. Killing bad guys and collecting tokens nets you "Deadpool Points" or DP. This is your currency to unlock and upgrade Deadpool's full arsenal, as well as the man in red himself. You will want to beef up Deadpool because the game can get challenging. Even on Easy Mode, you might die a few times, but the game is generous with checkpoints, and of course, our mouthy hero also has his healing factor. You'll also be platforming, but if you come up short, Deadpool's trusty teleporter belt can put you back on solid ground to try again. This also plays into the combat, as Deadpool can avoid enemies with this. He can also counter-attack, which becomes a necessity in tougher fights. Upgrades also unlock Momentum attacks, four little meters that fill up as you fight, and when activated they can really turn the tide of battle. All of this to form combos, and the higher your combo, the more sweet, delicious DP you earn. Here's a quick breakdown of Deadpool's layout. Katanas: One half of Deadpool's classic weapons. These are the well-rounded choice, striking a balance between damaging enemies and forming combos. Sais: Raphael's weapon of choice, these baddies don't do much in terms of damage. But they're quick and can land a lot of hits. If you need to form a big combo, this is your best option. Hammers: Big and heavy, the hammers are slow and some enemies can dodge them. So they're not great for combos, but when it comes to damage, these guys are the leader of the pack. They do a ton of damage! Pistols: The other half of Deadpool's iconic weapon set, these guys are pretty good against weaker enemies. They have a good range, reasonable firing rate, and decent damage. Stronger enemies won't be too impressed, but they're handy to have. SMGs: These little babies fire very quickly and have good range. But damage on them isn't the best, and ammo dries up pretty fast. Still, handy for mowing down mobs of weaker enemies. Shotguns: These will make mincemeat out of your enemies, but only up close and personal. They're strong and fire quickly, but range is lacking on these guys. Deadpool will be sure to inform you if you make that mistake. Pulse Canons: Now these guys really law down the law. They don't have a good firing rate, but they have good range and as far as damage goes, they're the cream of the crop. You've also got thrown weapons in four varieties. Frags, mines, flash bangs, and bear traps. The flash bangs and bear traps are more for stunning your enemies, while frags and mines are for turning them into red stains on the ground. Alongside our main adventure, Deadpool has access to challenge levels. These stages throw waves of enemies at you, and if you can kill them all within the time limit without dying yourself, you get medals. Bronze, silver, and gold. Finish the gold stage and you unlock the infinite stage where Deadpool wears a new costume. Sadly these are only available in these infinite stages. It would be nice to have them in the main game, but you can't have it all, I guess. Speaking of enemies, variety is nice. You have your standard grunts, the big guys, the flying enemies, and more. One last thing; stealth. It doesn't pop up much and Deadpool handles the sneaking for you. But it's cool to have a bit of extra flavor thrown in. But Deadpool isn't the sneaky type, he's more of a go in all guns blazing and all blades swinging, which is how you'll play most of the game. This game is a lot of fun! I guess if I have any gripes, they'd just be that the game can be a bit annoying with platforming, and the aforementioned costumes being locked to the challenge runs. That aside, the game is awesome! The presentation is great too. The writing is hilarious and I got a lot of laughs from the story. Deadpool even taunts and insults you if you're playing badly. Oh, but there are appearances by a few X-Men too, and Deadpool's interactions with them are so funny! The graphics look awesome, enemies bleeding or exploding into blood and guts is gratuitous violence and fits Deadpool like a glove. The music isn't much, but it pumps up the action nicely. The voice acting is awesome, everyone bounces off each other and breathes life into their characters. Overall, Deadpool is an awesome and hilarious game. It's pretty crass, so if you're not into Deadpool you will not like this game, but I had a ton of fun with it! I can easily see myself returning to it in a few years, but in the meantime, sharpen your katanas, load your guns, and mouth off to the game's director, with Deadpool! ... show more

  • Chimichangas!!!

Great game. Hilarious. Doesn't take itself seriously. Not super long, which is good. The game play and storyline are not complex enough to keep one entertained for much longer than the game actually is. For example, a lot of great kill animations, which are fantastic the first few dozen times, but lose their luster after a couple hundred repetitions. But if you wanted Shakespeare, listen to an audio book while eating Churros Mexicanos. If you wanted long, intricate gameplay, there are options like the Fallout, Assassin's Creed, and Witcher series. However, if you want a game Dead Pool-y enough that the main character would cut off both his hands just so he could give it four thumbs up, this game is recommended. I just hope the next iteration, if there ever is one, they get permission to use the likeness of Green Lantern so that they can throw in a "Shoot Away Your Shame" bonus level. ... show more

This game is hilarious. For a low budget game , it’s great. The gameplay is smooth and the graphics are better that the original on xbox 360. You can buy upgrades for weapons and health. The enemies get harder to kill the as time passes. A must buy for Deadpool fans.

Disc copy is not %100 in perfect condition, but is still playable. The disc was covered in fingerprints as if a toddler had played with it recently, but I was able to clean it with a microfiber cloth. The game had brief moments where the game would lag, but it came in small doses and everything that followed, played fluently. It's good to enjoy this game once more, since it's no longer available in the online or public market for purchase due to the liscense expiration. ... show more

Fun, exciting and not too difficult to learn the moves. DeadPool is engaging and either compliments your play or displays irritation at your mistakes. ("Could you hand the controller to someone who knows how to play?") All in all, a well made and fun game. There were plenty of levels and challenges but the game was not so long that you got bored with it. If you loved the movie, this game helped inspire the DeadPool character in that movie so you will probably enjoy the game too! ... show more

I'm late to gaming, but "Deadpool" is a blast! It's challenging enough to be compelling w/o being so convoluted to be frustrating. I especially love the fact that it's various challenges makes it feel like multiple games in one. Plus, I dig that it's in true Deadpool style - NSFW:)))
