I debated between this and the Breville. With a price drop to $699, I opted for the Delonghi and I’m glad I did. The machine is easy to use after making the necessary adjustments for various coffee beans (easy to do with tamping guide). I’m now enjoying morning cappuccino and afternoon lattes!     • ⭐️ for this debacle!
Both Amazon and DeLonghi get ⭐️ for this item. The grinder did not work properly. I called DeLonghi and we did a video call. The rep made the decision that there was definitely an issue with the grinder and wanted to know if I wanted a replacement or a refund, but then asked where I purchased it. Since I purchased w/ Amazon, I had to go there. So, I called Amazon and told them the outcome. They STRAIGHT UP REFUSED TO REPLACE THE ESPRESSO MACHINE. They made the determination that I had purchased the machine on sale and they would ONLY replace if I paid the $300+ MORE … for a defective that I PURCHASED FROM AMAZON. At that point I was referred to DeLonghi. However, for the record, I did begin a return with Amazon because I wanted it documented. I called DeLonghi. They said that yes, they would replace. I was concerned that it would also be defective. They assured me that it would be covered. Early the next morning I received an email from DeLonghi that stated they were shipping out another machine, it would take 8-10 business days to process, and once I received it, the warranty would be from THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE DATE. Well, that didn’t sit right with me. I told them that I didn’t want a replacement and I was sending it back to Amazon for a full refund. They then told me that the process had already begun. The “reviewed the conversations” and said that they stood by the original purchase date.(Does that make ANY sense to you??) I then told them that I was returning to Amazon, again and if they had such a great product that they wouldn’t be afraid to give THIS machine 30 days, as well. At this point, I called Amazon and told them all of the above. This gentleman knew what he was doing. He advised me to contact DeLonghi and let them know that I was no longer having communication with them and that Amazon was taking care of this issue(only partly, I might add. I wanted a replacement THAT WORKED!) Suddenly, DeLonghi was very kind and said they were glad to hear that I was returning to Amazon … after attempting to FORCE me to take their machine under sketchy circumstances. I will tell you that I will NEVER purchase a DeLonghi item … ever again. The entire process with them was sketchy and seemed like a trap of possibly getting another defective machine. And, Amazon’s rep suggested that because of the weirdness of this. I would avoid DeLonghi like the plague. Also, Amazon … I may have purchased this item at a sale price. That doesn’t mean that you don’t do a replacement … especially since I PAY THE EXTRA EVERY MONTH TO COVER THINGS IF THIS NATURE! For this, you get an F-. Are you that greedy for money that you won’t even replace an item that is defective??? SMH ... show more

This was a splurge, but I am not sorry. This coffee maker has spoiled me for sure. Once you find the right beans for your taste you will love your coffee, latte, espresso, etc. My son recently visited, he also fell in love…so I splurged and bought another one, to go home with him. Now he and my DIL enjoy their coffee all day long! ... show more

I really wanted to love this machine. It looks beautiful and has a lot of great features, especially if you’re newer to making espresso at home. For me, it just didn’t quite hit the mark in terms of consistency and strength compared to what I like. I tend to prefer a stronger, more café-style espresso, and this felt a little lighter than I expected. It’s a solid beautiful machine and very user-friendly, but I ended up going in a different direction for my daily espresso. ... show more

    • Better than the competitor
Very solid alternative to Breville Barista Touch. I would say it outperforms the Breville in most respects. I always have my Breville grinder set to its finest setting. The De'Longhi grinder seems to achieve as fine a grind on its 8 setting. I have not had to increase the fine-ness yet. The frother functions more reliably on the De'Longhi. The Breville's temperature sensor is finicky. De'Longhi's thermometer is more of a dip-stick and goes right in the milk along with frother. The Breville has a better frother out of the box, but the De'Longhi frother will outperform the Breville over the life of the machine. I love both the Breville Barista Touch and the De'Longhi La Specialista Touch, but the De'Longhi's edges out the Breville. I did not consider the price differences in my review. ... show more
