Memory replacement works perfectly!
This set of 4x16 GB memory replaced the original set of 2x32 GB G. Skill Rip Jaws memory I had purchased about three or four years ago when I built my machine centered around Intel's 10th generation Core i9. The memory was acquired from another source. One of the sticks (the second bank) began developing errors over time, but usually not enough to stop Windows 11. When it did, Windows 11 quit in its tracks and rebooted instantly--no hint of problems in either the App or System logs--just shut down without notice. The real indicator of a faulty DIMM, according to CoPilot, was in running Clonezilla to back up my entire C-drive (you do image your system disk, right? It has rescued me many times). Clonezilla would get part way through or all the way thru recording the data, but then Clonezilla's CRC test to verify the image would fail. This did not happen for the first couple of years--the one memory stick just degraded slowly over time. When I finally ran Memtest, I got several errors (all in the 47 GB region or second stick) in the first couple of minutes of operation. CoPilot noted that the most severe test for RAM is running Clonezilla as it uses every bit of RAM that's in the computer. CoPilot also suggested that for this particular motherboard (Asus Prime Z490-A), the memory controller is actually happier with a 4x16 GB configuration than 2x32 GB configuration. In any case, this 4x16 GB configuration solved the problem, and everything is good. For those experiencing memory issues, the signs are not always obvious--unless the damaged cells are down in the first 16 GB or so of the range--where core Windows activities occur. As I said, my memory failures were, according to Memtest, in the 47 GB range, meaning that unless heavy computing was being done, you might go for some time without noticing any issues. This is especially true if you are running Linux on the same machine (dual boot, separate drives), which uses far less memory than Windows and makes fewer excursions into the higher regions of memory. Moral of the story. Had I taken this computer to a repair shop, they might have missed it, too--and simply reformatted my system, which would have taken me weeks to restore all the programs and links that I use. I had some odd-ball Windows 11 issues where a program DLL would clash with a Windows system DLL. But it was never enough to show that there might have been a memory issue. Before you blame Windows 11, make sure to run Memtest (you'll need the latest version to work with today's machines). It may uncover problems you didn't know you had. The best part of Memtest is that the free version is all you need to expose a problem. Then, good luck in finding replacement memory if your machine is three or four years old! Thanks to Amazon on that as CoPilot actually found the product, and all I had to do was click on the CoPilot Link. After checking a couple of other sources, Amazon's price was the lowest for this particular memory. I put Memtest thru its paces on the new memory and it is A-OK--and no hiccups on Clonezzilla. ... show more

Good RAM, if you need DDR4
Was looking to upgrade my video editing PC, which is still using ddr4, to 64GB. Came across this ram, never heard of this brand and decided to take a chance on it. Recognized by motherboard right away, working at advertised speeds, passed the memtest86 testing without errors and is running stable. MHz are as advertised
RAM works perfectly after 6 Months of usage. running 4x16 at 3000 MHz NOTE: Running 4 channels will cause most mid tier Motherboards to have instability at 3200MHz (Mine included). This isn't a fault of the RAM this is a fault of poor Motherboard traces. You weren't lied to, you are being throttled by power instability. If you want the MAX MHz your best bet it to run 2x16 or 2x32 in A2 & B2. It's not Gigastone's fault I promise. If you want to have all 4 channels filled, see if it can run at 3200 in the BIOS then work your way down until you get a clean boot. MHz are as advertised ... show more

Power Unleashed: The Game PRO 64GB DDR4 Kit That Actually Performs, Here Are My Notes…
This item has been with me for a very short time. I recently decided to heavily upgrade my PC, mostly for video editing, rendering, and some serious multitasking. My old machine with 16 32 GB of RAM was being pushed to its limits: sluggishness during 4K video editing, lag in gaming when many background apps were open, and constant swapping to disk. I wanted a large jump in RAM to avoid bottlenecks, and 64 GB seemed the sweet spot for both gaming and content creation.
