  • Great tool - good torque
Size: 1500W+1 bit(6")
This definitely has enough torque. As other reviewers noted, it will rip your arms off if you’re not careful. Proceed by going in a few inches at a time while lifting it back out as you go. If it catches and locks up on a rock or just hard clay, use the reverse button to go back and then start again. I have southern CA hard clay and it catches a lot. I’m going to try soaking the clay as a second option to see if it catches less often. Definitely works much faster then other methods and drills a nice round hole Pros: * Plenty of torque * Auger has a drill bit and cutting blade at tip so it really cuts well * Reverse button super important * seems well built and durable design * super easy to assemble the auger with one clevis pin ( They gave 2 extra plus a set of brushes) Cons: Be careful with torque pulling the unit away from your hands. Go slow and lift the tool out every few inches then go back in. ... show more

  • Very nice tool if you have a lot of post holes to dig.
Size: 1500W+1 bit(6")
This post hole digger works exceptionally well, even though the first one delivered did not work at all. Returned it to Amazon and got a replacement quickly. It works exceptionally, although most of my soil is sand. It does get stopped by a root or rock, but I find those fairly quickly and remove them by hand. This digger has saved me a lot of time and effort and is much easier and quiter than a gasoline powered post hole digger, given that it is not quite as powerful as a gasoline powered digger. Highly recommend it. ... show more

  • Money well spent to save labor
Size: 1500W+1 bit(6")+3 Ext(8"12"20")
I had about 40 post holes to dig for 4x4 posts, some on a steep bank. Renting a posthole digger was not an option as this project would be done over many weekends. By chance I found this on Amazon and thought $140 divided by 40 and I certainly would pay $4 per hole. This unit did not disappoint! It can be handled by one person, does not weigh to much, and has plenty of torque but a slip clutch that slips before it twists you to the ground. Buy it and save yourself a bunch of work. Note: on the bank, I started with a post hole digger for about 6" first and made handling easier. ... show more

  • Works great!
Size: 1500W+1 bit(6")+3 Ext(8"12"20")
I bought this because I am replacing a fence and have a bunch of holes to make. I thought it would be better to buy one and spread the hole digging out over an extended period of time rather than rent one and try to do all of them in a day or two. (Even had I done that, the cost of two days’ rental would be about equal to this.) After a few holes last night I am convinced this was a smart decision. While this tool is orders of magnitude easier than my manual post hole digger, and really works well, it is still hard work drilling holes, and I am pretty sore. It is definitely better to drill holes in small doses. It is also definitely better to use this than a manual digger. I actually have a pretty good, probably antique, Boston digger. It would have taken me an hour plus per hole to do with that and I would probably be limited physically to one per day. This thing made 40 inches deep holes in 10 minutes or so each, in the hands of a amateur. My particular ground is heavy clay with moderate roots but few rocks. The first hole hit a lot of roots up to about the diameter of my fingers. It took a little doing, but this definitely had the power to handle them. The second hole hit a 5-inch rock near the surface and pushed it out of the way so easily I didn’t even feel it. I am going about 40 inches deep, using the extension kit, which works pretty seamlessly, at least using just the longest extension. It might be a lot easier to move the dirt out of the hole if the extension had screw threads, but this works well enough. My holes are all within 200 feet of an outlet, so the corded power source works fine. If it were any more powerful that might even be a drawback a - it can jerk you pretty good when you hit a root or something. I selected this version for two reasons - the extension kit, as my depth would be hard without it, and the reverse function, since the ability to reverse out if stuck in a deep hole seemed valuable. Thus far I have not used the reverse and wonder if it is really that important. Though not stealthy by any means, this tool is not too loud - I didn’t regard ear protection as necessary. Anyway, if your cord reaches and you have a lot of holes to make, this seems a viable and even obvious solution. Update: After more use I have decided that the reverse feature is definitely worth it. It really isn’t that much more, it does help you get out of jams, and if it saves you from getting stuck just a couple of times you will be thankful you sprung for it. ... show more

  • Bang for the buck!

  • Excellent product
Size: 1500W+1 bit(6")
I wish I would’ve bought this thing years ago. I’ve had the gas type and they’re always difficult to start. Actually, sometimes they’re impossible to start. This thing digs holes easily. I love the reverse if it gets stuck on a root, just back it right out. I’ve used it for planning trees and shrubs. As well as fence post. Holding up great. And it always works. You should use a minimum 12 gauge extension cord 10 gauge is even better. ... show more
