  • My one week review of this 8" beast.
Color: Black Size: 8in
This is one solid sub! No inflated specs here. The cabinet is rock solid and looks nice too. I only have the volume about a third of the way up and you can tell your getting what you paid for, as this is rated at 150 watts. My room is about 12 x 20 feet with two doorway openings and one of the openings is quite large (double size). I'm stated this so you may compare your air space to what I'm experiencing before purchase. This little 8" sub does a very nice job of pounding out some bass. So much so that I had to reinforce my TV cabinet (more screws for the back thinner panel) from rattling and put sticky felt pieces behind my pictures and clock in the room. I used the LFE input for a few days then switched over to the L/R inputs in order to use the crossover. Both inputs sound and work just fine. No difference unless you have no way to adjust a crossover before the signal hits the LFE input. Be sure to order the correct cable for your needs and your amp/receiver specs or capabilities. I did not use the speaker inputs as my receiver has a sub out. The subwoofer produces clean and tight bass while providing bass pressure in the air. Subwoofer placement is critical and you may need to find the right spot in your room. Placing the sub facing the same direction as your main speakers is usually best but if not, don't forget to change the phase to 180, if needed. Hands down the best BANG for your buck. I personally never used Dayton before but have heard of them. So glad I gave this sub a shot. This sub blows my previous two subs out of the water and one of them was a 12". Oh and they offer a 5 year warranty. Who does that? Apparently Dayton does. The order came from Parts Express instead of Amazon. To my surprised it was delivered the day after ordered even though I think the original time frame was about a week. So that was pretty cool and unexpected. Anyway, I would highly recommend this sub. Specially at this price! ... show more

  • Good Value for the $$ and Sounds excellent.
Color: Black Size: 10in
Needed to replace an old failing 8 inch subwoofer in my computer room. My system uses a vintage (OLD) Yamaha RX-V1500 receiver with old Klipsch bookshelf speakers. Decided on the Dayton 10 inch CS1000 because it was CHEAP. I was not expecting much, after all $200 is not expensive for a subwoofer. I was WRONG, the Dayton 10 inch sub is really excellent and a superb buy for the $$. Used for music mostly and gaming PC audio along with TV streaming. Very good subwoofer for Music, lots of low end musicality without the boomy Bass that cheap subs are known for. Build quality is very Good and it looks nice. I got fast free 2 day shipping from Parts Express. It had a 37 lb shipping weight which was probably expensive to ship via UPS. I have NO complaints about the sub, however my wife complains it is too loud, so I know the Dayton is doing it's job. ... show more

  • Excellent bass for small to medium systems needing those lowest frequencies enhanced
Color: Black Size: 8in
Exactly what I wanted. This is a perfect subwoofer for sub bass reinforcement in a small to medium sized system. It has all the needed functions for gain and crossover point, plus auto start and shut off with the main system is fired up. The bass is tight, clear and does exactly what I wanted. It was a gift for a disabled man who adores his 53 year old system but wanted a deeper bass response and boy did this do the trick. This is not for moving furniture or rattling glass, though it does put out a substantial amount of usable musical bass and will enhance your system whether 2 channel or surround system. No hum or noise at all. You won't know it's there until the music starts. An amazing value at this price point. Dayton has never let me down with their solid quality and affordability. Just a tip, be sure to learn about proper sub placement as it can vary wildly within the same room. ... show more

  • Better than expected
Color: Wood Size: 8in
Sounds much bigger than expected. Really like the different options to connect to amp. Looks vintage.

  • Deep, musical, high-value subwoofer
Color: Wood Size: 12in
I am very happy with this sub. It sounds musical, with very deep tones down to 25hz, without any kind of unwanted boomy sound. It was very easy to configure; I'm currently using about an 80hz crossover. On power, the volume goes up much higher than I need. Functionally, the volume adjustment, crossover, and phase inversion are exactly what I needed. If the natural wood look is your preference over black, this one is a great choice as well. If I have any complaint on the look, the speaker does press out slightly on the fabric cover on the left of the unit, which doesn't bother me but can give the fabric a slightly dirty look. Keep in mind this physical depth of this unit is significant. I did purchase some vibration absorbing feet, a long shielded 1/8" to RCA cable, and a longer power cable to complete the setup for my particular configuration. Overall, I am highly stoked on the value for money this sub represents. I definitely feel like I made the right choice for my home office setup. ... show more
