Bought this for our beta fish in a 5 gallon tank, and he seems to be really happy! Before I put it in the tank his water was 74-75 degrees. Within an hour it heated to about 80-81. It says it has a “cutoff” at 78, but I think it does tend to fluctuate a degree or two which is ok for me as long as it never gets above a certain temperature because I didn’t want to fry my fish. But I checked it every hour before bed last night, got up and checked it in the middle of the night, and checked it this morning and it’s never gotten above 82 degrees. My fish seems like he’s a lot happier now that his water is a little warmer. So, so far so good. I am happy with my purchase. Don’t listen to the reviews complaining about the sticker, I noticed from their photos they posted they’re not very smart anyways, it doesn’t stick because they put their stickers on the inside of the glass in the water like dummies. It does work well. Make sure there’s a filter because the water needs to be circulating for it to work properly. Missed that the first time around.

Bought two they came in yesterday. I have two 1.5Gal tanks it took about an hour 1/2 to come to temperature. So far they’re staying between 78°-81°. My fish automatically became happier and started building bigger nests. Although, the only complaint I have is that the thermometer stickers don’t stick in the water. They do work however, I stuck them on my filters about an inch above the water and just let them kind of float in there as you can see in the pictures.     • Short cord for plugging in
The heater works great. It does the job. But the cord to plug it in is quite short considering that most aquariums are on some sort of stand, this cord isn't long enough to reach the outlet. I had to use an extension cord with it. If it was maybe 6 inches longer it would be perfect.

    • Good low cost heater
I have 2 of these for bettas. They hold the temperature as designed and are small enough to fit the 2.5g tanks. Less than a year of use so time will tell if they last.

    • Hotter than it says.
I am using this in a 2 1/2 gallon tank with fry in it. and I've been checking the temp constantly and it's keeping the tank at around 81.3 to 82 degrees. It's supposed to be preset to 78 but it's keeping my tank a little hotter. I hope this temp is ok for my baby fish or I'll be very upset.
