  • I love Dash. The egg cooker is my first love.
Color: Red Style: Cooker
The egg cooker is the first product I bought from Dash. It started my love affair with the Dash company and I am a serial buyer of now four different products and counting. And no, I pay for them all and have zero connection to the company. I’m just a big fan of their products. If you want consistently good hard boiled eggs, just follow the instructions. If you want to customize your experience and be a mad scientist and play around with timing and with water temp and levels, you can do that too. But as long as you make sure to rinse the just-cooked eggs in cold water using the cute carrier, then you will get the desired soft to hard levels on the continuum of cook by using the included and equally cute water measurer/egg piercer. And you won’t hurt yourself like you would by doing the bone head move of handling flaming hockey puck eggs with your bare hands. Don’t be an idiot. Use the carrier. I have no comment on the included omelet holder. I tried it once and found it suboptimal and more time consuming than just using a frying pan on the stove. In my estimation, it’s worth playing around with only if there is no access to a stovetop. I like the alarm and auto shut off. I like the fact I can run to the bathroom without fear I will forget about it and burn the house down. The cooker will alert you and shut off as the water fully evaporates. But, keep in mind those flaming hot eggs will continue to cook inside the shell while you ignore the alarm. Don’t blame Dash for your being neglectful about your role as safe egg retriever. And yes, I bought this egg cooker as a replacement for the one I bought my mother several years ago. I bought her first one soon after I bought my own. Hers aged poorly due to hard water and suboptimal maintenance, so I got her a new one. Mine has been treated with relative care and kindness and is still doing great years later. If you live in an area with hard water, you’ll either need to use purified water or be careful about maintenance. There can be hard water deposits on the bottom or even scale build up from water sediment (in few places, but they do exist). If you have build up on shower doors that’s not soap scum, then there can be build up on the bottom of your egg cooker. But don’t be an idiot and use standard cleaning products. Do you want to eat abrasive cleansers or lime scale remover? NO, you DO NOT. Use baking soda and a toothbrush on it every so often and you will prolong the life of it. And don’t attempt to clean it while it’s still very hot. The water evaporates too quickly and leaves a pasty mess. You could also burn yourself and have only yourself to blame. See above: don’t be an idiot. I live in an area with soft water, so I’ve done a couple of good cleans and it is still going strong. And the truth is, I had to clean it cuz I broke into mad scientist mode with it and should not have. I steamed veggies in it and tried to warm chicken nuggets. The residue of my experiments messed up the surface temporarily. But, with perseverance, after a couple of attempts, I was able to fully clean the steaming surface and it continues to function like the mighty little champ it is. Go Dash! ... show more

  • Works well; with a couple of caveats
Color: White Style: Cooker
I'm at 6250' altitude; so, water, here, boils at 200 deg. F, not 212. Meaning, one needs to add ~ 1/3 to 1/2 more water, to get the desired result; since Turn-Off is predicated on the water level lowering until the over-temp sensor kicks in, and the slightly annoying 'Finished!' jingle initiates. A small amount of water remaining, after cycling, is normal. Simply great for quick & handy/easy/simple boiling of eggs! The 'soft boiled' (i.e., solid whites/liquid yolk) tray works well; but, at my altitude, required a little experimentation to get the preferred results. If you're after 'hard whites/runny yolks', like in a regular, pan-fried egg... it works... but, of course, you won't have a nice, crispy-browned bottom. :-) The omelette function requires I over-fill the boiling surface/portion of the device pretty much up to the lower surface of the six egg-holder plate holes; but, works fine (takes 15 mins, here) - if you don't pile too many other ingredients into the two whisked eggs. If you do... like this morning, for me - you'll end up with a somewhat runny omelette. Best, to only add a moderate quantity of sm-cubed cheese, and maybe some minced onions (a can of chopped anchovies, with cheese cubes, went well); and to not fill the little tray past the rim (the added egg-soaked/covered ingredients sticking up, in the middle, above the liquid level). Regardless, you won't get, again, the nice, browned skin you get with an omelette pan. BTW - this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LNFYCHM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&th=1 is sold as a 'milk frother' (for which it works great), but... it also works super for 'whisking' eggs for an omelette! Makes for a uniform, excellently-firm consistency to the finished omelette! Or, for stirring coffee, etc., etc. - HIGHLY Recommended! The egg cooker is easy to clean; but best/easiest to clean after 5/10/15 mins, or so, of cooling. All told, works well. Excellent device for a bachelor/ette!! HIGHLY Recommended - especially for a mere $10!! ... show more

  • Works great.. easy to make hard boiled eggs
Color: Red Style: Cooker
I bought this product to make hard boiled eggs easier. I bought the one that does 6 . I love deviled eggs but HATE when eggs are NOT cooked through properly & especially when shells stick to the white while peeling them! This stops that pain issue, so I make deviled eggs more often, as well as just hard boiled to eat more often. This is easy to use & is timed so you can go about doing other prep for breakfast or other… then ends automatically when eggs are done. . Sound alarm goes off. After eggs for hard boiled is done, I found if I add additional 2 mins, I use stove timer on .. letting eggs sit in unit longer, this makes egg perfectly done with no bit of dark yellow yoke. Best is the peeling off shells … they don’t stick! My husband ended up loving it as well for his eggs in morning.. no boiling, guessing & turnout perfect each time..( extra 2 mins sit time). He gets his toast & pour through coffee ready while eggs are cooking. The best kitchen tool added recently. Love it. I also made soft boiled & is great. Again no worry on timing, be busy preparing rest of meal. I learn about this cool tool from my friend who also hated egg issues when making deviled eggs. So glad she shared this product. It’s Easy to clean.. when done, I use white vinegar to clean it off from the light coating from egg/water spots. Makes it shinny new again. Go ahead, but it, Try it.. love it. ... show more
