So here are the pros: - sturdy construction when compared to the cheaper version made out of stamp metal - puts out more pressure Now the cons: - as you can see in the picture and because of the play in the back smooth guide, the spreader plates become angled and this causes an incomplete and uneven pressing of the break pistons. - you must use the old break pad to press evenly and protect the pistons when pressing. see picture. - you have to play with the positioning of the tool atop achieve complete and flush pressing of the pistons because of the angle the plates bend at...     • Handy tool with one annoying flaw
Used this to compress dual piston set up on truck and was far better than other methods. Only nuisance is the little metal rod that you can use to tighten it is pressed in a way that you have to cut it to remove it. It’s annoying because the back end has a 3/8” drive so when I use the electric wrench to quickly expand or contract the unit that bar spins around and gets in the way or smacks the in the hand incredibly hard. On the plus side I’ve created some new curse words on account of the metal bar smacking me in the hand at 12,000 mph. ... show more

Used this disc brake caliper “spreader” on my truck and it worked well. However, for motorcycles and many other smaller vehicles, the plates at too thick, in many cases, to fit between the brake pads, even when pistons are already fully retracted..
