  • Good boots at a great price.
There are a few different colors/styles available under this product page. I purchased the wheat 6" moc toe boot in 9 Wide from OutdoorEquipped, shipped from Amazon. They got to me on 8th March 2026. They are a GREAT pair of boots for $145, but maybe only a GOOD pair of boots for the MSRP of $200. They are also quite attractive for a work boot in my opinion, and I guess if I were the type I'd get another pair just for looks. There are a few things that I don't like about them, which I will address, but they are an undeniable five star pair of boots. I hope that the nine accompanying photos provide some context. I was shopping for boots in GENERAL because I need to have my proper Danner work boots (Quarry MET AT 8") recrafted and I needed something cheap and fast in the interim. I bought these boots in PARTICULAR because a) they are also able to be resoled and/or recrafted for little money at Danner's factory store here in PDX, and b) they were DANNER boots for $145 and would ship to my door in a day. This checked both of my boxes and kept me wearing my preferred boot company. Now, about the boots. I ordered the same size I wear in all of my other Danner's and they fit like a glove. They are constructed of nubuck leather, thinner and softer than my other Danner's double layers of full-grain goodness. This makes them significantly more lightweight and comfortable and overall very different than what I am used to, which might be nice for Summer. The heel of the boot is stiffer and thicker, but I don't know if it's from another layer of leather or from some synthetic material or plastic. They are not waterproof in the sense that they have a gortex lining, as the boot is unlined except for a bit of cushiony fabric in the heel, but they are definitely water resistant. The tongue is married about halfway up and the sole is stitchdown constructed, meaning you could maybe stand in about 2-3 inches of water as long as you're not splashing around, but I wouldn't wear them in another atmospheric river. The sole is pretty great, with good enough traction to work on a shingled roof in the wind and rain. There is a very small aluminum shank in the sole. If you look at the bottom of the boot, it sits in the middle of the boot and runs from the 'slip resisting' to the 'oil resisting'. Word on the street is that once you get the sole worn down halfway they start to smell like cat piss, so watch out for that. All in all I think the boots are great for light duty and finish work and maybe technical trade work but I wouldn't stand on a ladder or dig all day with them on. Maybe not framing, either. But drywall and metal roofing and stuff like that should be fine. I don't like that the toebox is wrinkled already from a single week of work and weekend shenanigans. It happens from taking a knee and climbing ladders and stairs and I'm worried about it weakening and loosening the stitches in the moc toe. I'm sure they'll last a while but I like the way they look and I'd like to be able to wear them on the weekends for as long as possible and I predict that they'll look like common work boots within 90 days. There is a one year warranty that covers glaring factory defects and general defects that present themselves over time from non-adverse wear, but if you mess them up doing something stupid, you're on your own. The second thing I don't like about these boots is that they're proudly toted as MADE IN THE USA and have an American flag on them. I want it to be clear that I love Danner and I now currently own four pairs (Quarry MET 8", Bull Run 6", USMC RAT 8", and some random 4" hiking style boots issued in Afghanistan) and have owned several other pairs (Canadian 10", Recon 8", Fort Lewis 8"). I would love for these boots to be made in the USA, but they are not. They are made somewhere else and they get laced up and the sole attached in the USA. My Canadians, Recons, and Fort Lewis boots were made in the USA and you could tell from a mile away. These are cheap boots, sale or no sale, and Danner has a reputation enough to keep selling these boots for the same exact price while also telling the truth - that they are soled in the US. Just a rant. I'll update the bulk of this review if anything goes wrong with something I've covered, and I'll add a footer with dates of getting them serviced so that fellow consumers can get a better understanding of what to expect. The pictures show various shots of the before and after applying Danner's nubuck and suede cleaner and Obenauf's heavy duty LP to the boots before I ever put them on. I also included a picture of the sole and lining and two pictures of the toe box creasing after one week of wear. In those two pictures I had brushed them and applied another coat of Obenauf's and you can see the vast changes in the color of the leather overall. ... show more

  • Been wearing Danners for 40 years. They have never let me down.
I decided to wait a little while before I wrote a review on these boots. It’s been 10 days, and I have to say these are one of the finest pairs of non-uniform boots that I’ve ever owned. They are stiff when brand new, but that is because of the superb leather. I changed the laces and wore them for short periods every day, and while far from broken in, they have formed to my feet and are very comfortable already. Just take your time and be patient. I am retired law-enforcement, always wore Danner Boots, they never let me down and last for years. When the soles finally wear out send them to Danner and for a very reasonable price they will be refurbished better than new. Fit is true to size with plenty of room in the toe box, excellent support, cushioning, and slip resistance. The stitching is very strong and workmanship is that of a fine bear of handmade boots. Best of all made in the USA quality that was proper care will last decades. ... show more

  • Outstanding Value
Size: 9.5 Color: Wheat
Danner boots are the best fitting and well made boots I have ever worn. I own numerous pairs of Danner Mountain 600 hiking boots as well as Bull Run work boots. Quality of construction, fit, and comfort are second to none. They are a great value at the regular price, and unbeatable when on sale. I normally remove the original flat insoles and replace them with a high quality insole with a higher arch for additional arch support. ... show more

  • These boots smell like pee if you ever get them wet
Size: 7 Color: Brown
These boots look amazing. They are very well constructed. They feel great, the leather breaks in quite well. Why have I given them a one-star review? Because they smell like CAT PEE. No, I don't have cats. The issue is with the sole of the boots, the material used, and something to do with the glues. Once they get wet, even if you dry them immediately, they just....smell like straight ammonia. Pee. Cat pee. My wife won't even let me keep them inside the house. When I'm in the truck with the heat on, it is suffocating. If you do a search online for "danner boots smell like pee," which i did after I had the issue, you'll see issues with the same thing going back YEARS. Why has Danner not fixed this problem? These are the most expensive boots i have ever bought, and I was alright with that for what I expected to get. But, I paid $260 to smell like an old cat lady's house. Very, very disappointing ... show more

  • Good shoes with a small detail flaw.
Size: 9.5 Color: Brown - Gore-tex
I work in the kitchen and safety non slip shoes are important. These shoes are slip resistant, they fit well and walk comfortably. One thing that is not comfortable are the open eye-lets that are rubbing against my ankle. They should be covered by cloth or something.

  • Quality and style right here.
I've been wanting a Moc toe boot and wading through the all the choices in Amazon I finally decided to try my first pair of Danner 6" Bull Run Moc toe boots. I went with a size I never tried on with a boot but I was convinced I can't be wrong was 11.5" wide. I normally wear 11" in boots and in athletic shoes 12" due to my wider foot. 11" in boots is perfect for thin to medium sock material. I wanted a boot to facilitate wool sock thickness during the cold months. I received these pretty fast and first thing I put Leather care Bick conditioner. Then wore them on leg day (squats, Belgium squats and stretches) to break in the upper leather. Yea, I like torture but the support was on point with these boots. I've worn them for about 8 hours so far and recommend wearing dark socks due to the leather stains. Right out of the box they fit perfect. Also, the price I got these were less than what other models sell for. Break in will take a few weeks of wearing them daily but I think I invested in some boots that will last for decades and has the Danner warranty. I highly recommend these! note* these are not lined! So, if you live in cold climates it may not be recommended unless you wear thick socks. ... show more
