I am a huge fan of Daiwa reels. this reel is even more smooth that the previous versions. great value. super quiet. took it out of the box, put line on it headed to the lake. worked perfect. a tip for beginners. the braking system on this is much more forgiving. so if you are new to bait casters, these work great. just clamp down the brakes and back them off until you get backlashes. then tighten just a smidge. ... show more

I fell in love with these Daiwa reels last year, this one make's number 8 that I have switched over to. They hold up well and cast even better. Take your time and play around with the brake settings to really get it dialed in with what you are throwing. Amazing reels for the price point!!!!!

I have many of the $75-$175 dollar Daiwa reels from the last few years, and this reel does not disappoint! My only complaint is it is a little harder to adjust correctly and does not seem to cast lighter (3/8 ounce or less) crankbaits as well as other reels.

This reel is fantastic! To start, it is $30-50 cheaper on amazon than the major retailers (Bass Pro, Omnia, Tackle Warehouse). I put this reel on a 7'3" MH Ark Fishing Cobb Series casting rod and it is a HAWG SNATHCIN' MESS. The reel performs flawlessly with a 17# Sunline Assassin backer and a Seagar 20# Smackdown Braid leader. I throw texas-rig worms with a 1/4 bullet weigh. I can throw it a mile. The grips are so comfortable and it's a good palm sized reel. The two bits of icing of the cake are the T-Wing eyelet and the 100mm handle. All in all, the reel is the best you can get for the money. ... show more

IMO, this line doesn't get the attention it deserves. They're solid, have a great capacity, are smooth to reel, have a great braking system, are super beginner friendly, and have a power model. I bought this reel originally for my girlfriend, and she loved it. At the time I was mainly using spinning reels, but recently switched to bait casting. This was my first purchase for myself, and I haven’t yet found a flaw in it. Fantastic aesthetics, flawless durability, and so quiet and smooth.
