I did experience when I went to dismantle the rod, it was difficult to remove the handle to the 1st section of the rod, we washed the rod down with fresh water every day we fished 3 days, it took 2 of us to twist where the guides were to remove that section. Can we use any type of lubrication that won't do damage to the joints? I was hesitant to use the guides to get enough leverage to twist, but it finally came apart ... show more

Exactly what I was looking for! A rod that I can travel with and put 4000 reel on it then I can fish the surf, pears, jetties and that flats. Perfect all around salt rod for traveling. I’m not sure why Daiwa only sells this rod in Europe and not in the US because they would sell a ton of them.

This is a decently made Daiwa travel rod. It is very light, the sections connects securely and reliably. And the build feels sturdy, even though it may not be able to handle the largest sharks and marlins due to the joints. One significant issue anglers should know is that the reel seat of this rod (maybe applicable to this whole series) is a tad too short for moderately heavy reels such as Penn Slammer and Spinfisher 6500. It is just 1-2mm too short for the reel (see photo) to fit. I made sure the screw/cap were FULLY moved to the bottom to provide maximum space. Since this rod is designed to be able to cast 500g lure/bait, a 6500 or even a 10000 reel is not unreasonable to pair with it, but you just cannot use Penn reels larger than 6000 ... show more

I had this rod for two months and the tip broke midsection trying to land a 12 pound carp maybe some of the other telescopic rods are better from daiwa But stay away from the ninja X it’s too pricey to be that fragile buyer beware would not recommend to anyone
