  • These are the best strings in terms of quality, price, and sound.
Personal opinion: These are the best strings in terms of quality, price, and sound. You don't need anything more. Don't be swayed by the extra features that marketing often tries to sell you, which don't actually provide a substantial improvement. I'm saying this with over 25 years of experience.

  • D'Addarios Are All I Buy
My Go-to brand. Just like the feel and action of these strings and always have. I almost exclusively use D'Addarios on my other stringed weapons (electric and acoustic guitars, mandolin, mandocello). Consistent quality and the durability is always top notch once you get them broken in. I find I don't have to replace them very often, but that also depends on how much I play them. Even with heavy use, they hold up. At the price point, I can also replace them relatively inexpensively. ... show more

  • Great bang for the buck
Been playing for twenty years. I usually play DR SunBeams, but I wanted to test out these Daddarios because, well, the same price you get one set of DRs you get two sets of Daddarios plus change. Got them, installed them on my frankenbass (custom body with dual MMs with a 80s Yamaha neck). Feel is a little rougher than the DRS, a bit stiffer, but not terribly so - I got used to it in 5 minutes. Maybe the E string sounds a little duller than the rest. All strings are bright, though, and have full body. Tried it with the band (2-guitars rock, in the vein of FNM, STP, RHCP), and the sounds cuts through with authority. Fingerstyle, pick, slap, everything sounded loud and clear without harshness in the band context (I don't tap so I can't tell if they're good for that). I still have to see how long do they last to do a final ruling vs the sunbeams, but so far so good. I'm liking these strings. ... show more

  • Good price as expected
I have only really played these strings and I like them. String preferences aside this came as delivered and at a good price. If this is the string you want I would buy here again comfortably.

  • Long enough for thru body 34" scale.
Same great quality if you're familiar with their guitar strings. I was unsure if these would be long enough to string through the body of my '22' Pro II jazz bass (34") but they're plenty. Honestly I would be fine just going through the bridge but you know how fun ferrules on the floor can be!

  • Only strings I use
I have used several brands over the 50+ years of playing guitars. I also put them on every guitar and bass I make unless otherwise requested

  • The Best Strings...
Simply put, these are the best strings at the lowest price. I've been playing electric bass for over 35 years and these are the brand I always come back to. I've tried Dr. Bass, Rotosounds, Fender, Markleys, etc. with no noticeable difference or improvement. D'Addarios sound great and last a long time. You can usually find them in multi-packs and/or on sale so it doesn't hurt to change them more often. This is one example where use don't get what you pay for, your get more! They come in many different lengths and gauges, so make sure you buy the correct set for your instrument. If you select a different gauge, don't forget that you may have to make adjustments to the intonation, string height, and/or neck relief on your bass or guitar. ... show more

  • Get the 2 pack
D'Addario makes some damn consistent strings. I don't have a ton of brand loyalty. Price is almost always the biggest factor here, but I have no reason not to stick with these. WARNING: I play the bass like a guitar. I am not looking for bowel cramp inducing low-end sounds. I want crunch and grind when I strum my 4-string through some boost, overdrive, distortion and fuzz pedals. Why do I like these so much? They last me a really long time. I hate new strings and every time I break a string on my bass (yes, this happens every few months, and yes I know it's because I am not playing bass the way it was intended), I have to get through that annoying period where a new string sounds tinny and bright while all the rest of the strings are beautifully muted and mellow. With a set of these I once went 10 months without breaking a string. Best damn 10 months ever. Did I mention I really hate having bright strings on my bass? Anyway, I've also had other bassists play my rig and they find these strings adequate. Bang for your buck, the 2 pack at $18-20 is worth it. ... show more
