  • Loud for residential use. This is definitely meant to be rack-mounted at a data center.
Style: Standard Size: 1500VA
For what it is, this unit is great. It is supposed to be rack-mounted at a data center, where airflow is king and noise is no big deal. So far, I'm impressed with the unit, but it is definitely not meant for residential operation. I had a Cyberpower "line interactive" model that was far less expensive, and the first time a solid storm came along while I was using my computer - pow! there goes my PSU and who knows what else inside the PC took a hit. If you're using a line-interactive UPS, get rid of it now. It may work fine for power sag, but it has a several-millisecond cutover time from line to battery, and that is far too long - the damage is already done. You need an "online" UPS - one that runs all of the connected equipment on battery power at all times, period. My advice to Cyberpower would be to create a residential unit that is sized to handle all the load a 15 or 20-amp circuit could throw at it, but in a form factor that is better for residential usage, and without the need for a 70CFM fan running at full blast all the time. When this thing switches to battery power, it sounds like an absolute wind tunnel when both high-static pressure fans fire up at the same time. During standard operation, there is a single 70CFM fan blowing (probably at max RPM) at all times, and in a quiet office, it is distracting. In a residential setting, the unit will be installed in a much cooler, much quieter, and much less cluttered environment. They could repackage this in a form factor that would allow a nice 140mm magnetic bearing fan that would run dead quiet most of the time. If they made a fully-online model that could handle say 1800 watts (15 amp circuit, 120 volts), or 2400 watts (20 amp circuit, 120 volts), but with no option to expand, and no rack-mount rails - well that would be the perfect home office UPS. I hope Cyberpower reads these reviews! ... show more

  • extremely noisy. installation is a pain
Style: Standard Size: 1500VA
this product is extremely noisy. even when it off, it charges the batery and fan makes horrible noise. this noise never goes away and there is nothing you will be able to with it. installing agent software on the computer for this product was not so easy and instructions could be much better.

  • Great Double Conversion UPS. Fantastic Price.
Style: Standard Size: 1000VA
If you are looking for a double conversion UPS that does the job without breaking the bank this unit is for you. All the controls can be accessed without connecting to a computer or network. I am using this ups without being conneted to any computer. This unit is very big. It is also very heavy. This ups is built like a tank. It is rack mountable or you can set it up as a tower with the tower stand provided. That is a very nice gesture from cyberpower because most manufactures tower stands are optional at a price of $75-$120.00. With this unit they are free which is a big deal. The OL1000RTXL2U has a cooling fan that is always on. The fan is as loud as an hunter whole room air purifier on medium or the number 2 setting. Which means the fan is pushing a good volume of air. Will the fan bother most people? It depends where you put it. But I would say no. This ups has no problem syncing to a generator. Because of the fan this ups never gets hot with 24/7 operation. According to the manual it is required to do cleaning of filters or inflow screens every so often. The unit has performed flawlessly for 4 months now. It is a great unit. ... show more

  • Easy to use and "built like a tank"
Style: Standard Size: 1000VA
Very simple to set up and use, and has been operating flawlessly. It's a "double-conversion" type, designed to run on generator power during power outages, which is why I bought it (no outages since I installed the unit, so I can't report yet on how well that works). Very solid, robust physical construction (weighs 40 pounds!). I also bought the RMCARD302 network card for it, so I can check its status via web browser from any of the 3 PCs that I have hooked up to it. My router automatically assigned it an IP address (shown on the router's Status page), so I was able to access it right away, with no fuss. It comes with "Power Panel Business Edition" software, so I installed that on one of my PCs, but found it to be unnecessary and in fact overkill for my simple installation, so I uninstalled it. The network card has its own user interface, which I find more than adequate. Yes, the cooling fan is fairly loud. I do lots of audio work on my PCs, and I need a quiet environment, so my CyberPower unit is installed in the basement, with extension cords running up to my 3 PCs. And the PCs themselves are low-power fanless units (from SuperLogics). Problem solved! Update (9/5/16): I can now report that this unit performs flawlessly in the event of a power outage. I was editing some audio files on my PC late at night when the outage occurred. The room suddenly went black, but my PC didn't even blink! Then 20 seconds later my generator kicked in and the lights came back on. Several hours later, the utility power was restored and the generator stopped. My PC continued to operate normally through all of this, as if none of it ever happened! The CyberPower unit was configured in Generator Mode (as opposed to Normal Mode) with Power Fail Conditions being anything outside of 95-150VAC and 60 Hz +/-10%. These settings evidently worked, and I can now recommend this CybePower UPS without reservation. ... show more

  • Real power loss protection
Style: Standard Size: 1500VA
I have been using "consumer" grade units for years, this is much better for always on networked systems. When you find out that you dont have enough runtime, or you add wattage to your system, you can just plug in an additional battery! This is the top end model that will plug into a standard 15A outlet, and has an upgrade slot for an SNMP ethernet adapter, you can use the TAA compliant adapter as well. Yes it can be loud, but chances are high you are using this in a dedicated room or closet with other loud devices, and as others have pointed out you can mod it for quiet fans. ... show more

  • Buyer Beware
Style: Standard Size: 1500VA
We believed this was supposed to be a new (working) model. Instead, it had already been returned twice (the return tags were still in the box) prior to shipping to us. Oh, and it didn't work either.
