  • Effective for short disruptions.
Style: 750VA Pattern Name: UPS
When the power goes out, even for a second, my work day gets disrupted and I lose at least an hour. Also, where I live my cell signal is super weak so when Wi-Fi goes down we can’t just hotspot and chill This unit has kept things humming along during several power glitches over the last bunch of months. My computer and our modem and router are plugged into the backup. No more dropping off meetings or losing my precious focus due to a blip. We’ve also enjoyed Wi-Fi during a multi-hour power outage with this. (My computer was off and not sucking power from the battery) It’s perfect for inconveniences such as short power outages, storms, and drunk drivers who smash into power poles. I don’t know how long it powers a router and Wi-Fi but it’s at least a hour or two. ... show more

  • Works great with manufacturer's software on Linux
Style: 650VA LCD Pattern Name: UPS
This works great on Linux. When I googled the manufacturer's software for linux before I received the item, the links said it was discontinued, so I loaded apcupsd from the linux distribution. I charged the unit overnight and hooked it up, but it locked when trying to boot the computer with the USB cable connected. That was a scare! But the manual gave a link to the software downloads, and it had one for linux that works flawlessly. It even has command line monitoring. I have it hooked up to two computers, with USB shutdown control for one and only the UPS function for the other. This give me six minutes of run time after a blackout, which is fine since our blackouts are usually under a minute. In case of a full fledged blackout, the second computer will crash, but for that one a graceful shutdown is not critical. With only one the first computer hooked up, I would have had 17 minutes. Great deal. ... show more

  • Exactly what I needed
Style: 850VA LCD Pattern Name: UPS
We have very short outages several times every week. They last a second or less, but it is just enough to cause my desktop computer and wifi router to reset, and definitely not good for electronic equipment. This solves that by conditioning the power to keep it steady and giving me plenty of battery time to keep everything running. Love that it has outlets with battery backup and ones that are just surge protectors. We have several now protecting TVs, our fridge, and computers. ... show more

  • Can supply a lot of power
Style: 850VA LCD Pattern Name: UPS
I bought a couple of these to replace some older UPSs in our office. We had one old UPS that would give an overcurrent signal every time our laser printer was in use. This new UPS handles it just fine.

  • It works for brief power losses
Style: 850VA LCD Pattern Name: UPS
I bought this to avoid losing internet connection when the power flickers on and off. But that's all its good for. It will run out of battery power in 5-10 minutes if the power from the grid goes off completely.

  • Lasted 5 years
Style: 650VA LCD Pattern Name: UPS
5 years of continuous use keeping my router, switch and firewall online. Finally died a few days ago with little to no warning, that was a bit disappointing. In order to get everything back up and running, I have to plug them directly into the wall. I figured this should have at least passed power through but not provided battery backup; that’s the reason for 4 stars. ... show more

  • Mine finally failed after about 5 years of continuous use.
Style: 850VA LCD Pattern Name: UPS
Bear in mind that the purpose of these non-commercial UPS's is to give you time to SAVE YOUR WORK and safely turn off the equipment (or even unplug it if there's a storm). It's not to allow you to keep working. So only expect 1-2 minutes from this. More when it's new, but the battery degrades. You can Google how to turn off or remove the speaker. As much as I hated it, I did need that beep sometimes to let me know (or wake me up) to turn off my PC. PS Buy the biggest one unless it's just for your modem or some small electronics. ... show more

  • EC850LCD Electronic battery & surge protector
Style: 850VA LCD Pattern Name: UPS
Unboxed and began to read the installation and setup using instructions provided. Maybe its me but I found the instruction booklet hard to follow, so course I turned to YouTube. Don't waste your time on videos showing how to unbox this device. One video I found seemed to describe my confusion on how to set it up and described how to maximize its features, so I followed it. The short of is I still ran into a few problems that might want tread about. As he mentioned in the video, left side is surge protection and the right is the battery & surge protection. (That's what batteries also do incidentally) So what is a ECO mode? The function of the ECO (as I understand) mode is to automatically shut down your computer safely after so many minutes of a power loss. You need to download the software from CyberPower and connect the USB wire provided from your EC850 to your computer. I had to call CyberPower tech support for this too. The iMac I'm using said the software was out of date and required a few key strokes in System Performance to get it to work. Otherwise I got everything to work during initial setup. My Bad on this part. I mixed up a Primo water cooler power cord with a external USB and120v plug of a power station. I plugged the water dispenser (500watts capacity) into the battery outlet section (right side) and the power station into the surge strip section, left side. The ECO mode activated and everything worked fine until it didn't. There water cooler or heater started to cycle drawing between 480 to 500 watts of power. The battery section of the the EC850 can only handle 400 watts. The warning horn sounded with a loud continuous tone in the wee hours of the morning. Holding the power button down shuts down the device and silences the horn. After a few hours or after I got up again I turn the power back on to see what happened. The Power light illuminated & ECO mode light blinked and off. I soon realized my computer was dead. I called Cyber Power customer service and described the problem as well as my mix up with the the two cords. They promptly identified the problem and also advised me I just voided their warranty by this mistake :0 They suggested I give it back to Amazon and let them deal with it. After further trouble shooting with the agent here's what I learned about the ECO mode (also not recommended by CyberPower customer service) I unplugged the computer from the EC850 ECO outlet and directly to the home outlet, it powered up. I checked all the outlets of the EC850 and they all showed 120v except the ECO designated outlet initially read zero. Trying to get a better connection with my ohm meter probes I heard a relay switch and the ECO plugs powered up. The green light on the ECO mode goes from a blinking green (not powered) to solid green when powered. The problem is the EC850 logic can't identify when a electrical device is plugged in if the device is not turned on so it may or may not trip the relay to power the plug. If it doesn't trip to the "On" position your device will never power up. My opinion is the EC850 has a faulty design so use it as a battery backup and surge protector and forget the ECO function hassle. Good luck and hope this helped ... show more
