I've been in IT for several decades and I can attest to the protections of having a UPS with voltage regulation as an extremely important feature to have. This one also has the sine-wave as well. As it turns out, my whole home generator happens to work with UPS devices that have the sine-wave functionality so I'm extra happy for that. I recently had some power outages and it operated perfectly. There's those few seconds of fluctuation before the home generator kicks in and our equipment connected to this UPS never missed a beat. I use this one for our main incoming coax cable for our Internet service and then I used a good short coax cable to come out of the UPS to go directly into my cable modem. So with that, all my other devices are plugged into the battery backup of the UPS. That includes my router, an extra network switch, my home phone ATA adapter, a NAS w/5 drives, and a hard drive docking station used for backups. Recently, I had an issue with one of my UPS units (I have two of these) and yes, their support took care of sending me a front panel replacement at no charge. They guided me with how to replace it and it worked fine. The unit itself never failed; it was the light indicators that weren't bright anymore, until after replacement. I had a large TV that was starting to show some purple scrolling lines every now and then so, after I added my 2nd UPS, it went away and never had the issue after that. Love this brand as it's more affordable and has some very good technologies applied. So, I have one that's about 2 years old and this one as my 2nd one. I've been very happy with its protections afforded me. Hope this helps others.

While looking for a battery back-up for my Dell XPS 8300 desktop (Core i7) I read a lot of reviews and came to find out that certain HP and Dell desktops need sinewave UPS sources to function properly via battery back-up. Having used other CyberPower back-up sources previously (which have saved my PC's from burning up in power surges and electrical storms) and wanting to keep up with that solid record of performance, I chose CyberPower over APC. Out of the box this back-up is ready to go. Plug it in, and then your performance PC, monitor, modem, and router in the surge plus battery back-up outlets. With those plugged in the pull on the battery is still only about a quarter of the total accessible power (22% for me). The back-up unit's size is perfect for my small home office, and it will give me approximately 15 minutes to properly shut down my system during a power outage. It will also protect my phone and cable lines from power surges. I like the helpful digital dashboard software, and installed it after plugging in the power supply and hooking up my PC to it. It provides a nice way to check the status of the battery as well as setting up auto shutdown of the PC. The footprint of this UPS is compact, and the battery is replaceable. The fan can be heard, which for some (me included...) is new, but it's not terribly noticable. I think it's probably standard with sources over 400W. If you have a PC that's considered high performance and you are concerned about compatibility issues, check with CyberPower prior to purchasing this one to confirm compatibility.

Does exactly what it's designed to do, the upright horizontalness of it's design allows me to have it in a location where it saves on space. And yes, it is effectively a backup battery system as well so if your power goes out, you can shut down your computer instead of it just losing power. This is really nice to have for a computer because as technology improves the CPU becomes more and more "capable." With that capability, it gets hot. This means it needs to stay cool. A UPS like this giving you the ability to tell your computer to shut down means that the computer can go through a process to cool the CPU for shutting down. And if i'm wrong on that you might want this type of product anyway because of it's space saving design and if your somehow ever in a position where you might pull more power than the power load of that breaker can handle (assuming it's set to a similar but lower limit) you have a chance to reassess your power usage without flipping a breaker. More specifically about this product, i've been making use of it for about over a year at this point and it's working exactly as it's intended to work. Does a click when it engages the battery power, a snap when it ends that process being back on shore power. And no annoying sounds.

Update 2 (11/2/17): I have reinstalled my original two APC BE350G UPS's. I found it interesting that one of them stayed on main AC power, while the other unit would constantly switch back and forth until the battery was depleted. After some more research, I learned that the APC units also have sensitivity adjustments (H/M/L) that can be changed via their free PC software (PowerChute PE) via USB cable. I connected both units to a PC and found that the unit that was not switching to battery was set to medium, where the one that was toggling back and forth, was set to high. I changed both to low, and now, both provide generator AC to the connected devices 100% of the time!! None of the network, IP cameras, or computers seem to care. APC even calls the lowest setting "generator mode". -------- Update 1 (11/1/17): After attempting a return via AZ's page, I learn that these are non-returnable. Fortunately, having received them only two days ago, and one still sealed in the shipping box, AZ's customer service very generously helped me resolve the return. Once again Amazon proves they are in the customer's corner. Think what you may of Bayzohs (yes, I know that's not the correct spelling, but I'm trying to get past the censors) and his politics, but dang does his company know how to treat us good. -------- I hate to be unjustly harsh, but, given my application and experience, I am beyond disappointed and frustrated. My setup: I have a diesel-powered (Yanmar engine) 14kW diesel standby generator, and a 200 amp auto transfer switch that provide backup power if utility service fails. While the main panel has 200 amp service, I have yet to exceed more than 10kW load at any given moment. Everything in the house works when on generator power; all electronics (network gear, PCs, 30+ IP cameras, TVs, etc), well pump, electric water heater, 4 mini-split AC units. Absolutely no issues powering anything/everything without a single hiccup. Unfortunately despite rock solid voltage, and frequency that stays between 59.8 and 60.5Hz, the APC battery backup units I have have conniption fits - toggling rapidly between batter any utility power (maybe once every 2 seconds) until the batteries are depleted - at which point everything connected gets connected and disconnected at the same rate. Horrible for electronics. So, I scoured Amazon for battery backups that tolerate generator power. This one, despite some reports of similar incompatibilities, seemed to have a number of people who said they had no issue with generator power. Thus, I bought two. When connected to the generator output without any load on the UPS, it stays on main power. However, after adding a few network switches and IP cameras, it begins toggling - just like the APC UPS's. I dropped the sensitivity to the lowest, and it made zero difference. This is with the generator having zero load change. I've tried it with minimal total load (<10A), and with heavier static loads. No difference. I was really hoping between the pure sine wave and power factor correcting technology that this would be the magic bullet, but even with higher feature set and higher price point, this performed no better than the $50 APC UPS's these were supposed to replace. I am contacting seller to initiate a return on both.

I run a small IT shop and I ordered one of these a couple of months ago. That one is humming along just fine. I ordered a second one for another system and it was a failure right out of the box. It kept popping an E21 code, which is a generic output short fault code. When I called Cyberpower tech support, the young man was very helpful but admitted that they had had a bad run at the factory for an earlier version last year for this same issue. They're sending me a replacement but it may be another week or two before I see it. I just hope the weather holds out long enough. My old one still works, sort of.

I'm impressed by this Cyberpower CP850PFCLCD. (NOTE: This is a review for the 2012 850VA model; no tilt/color screen and no USB ports.) I've only had it a week, and I only did one pull-the-plug test, but so far so good. UPDATE 1: Around a week after setting this up, I experienced a neighborhood power-outage and this UPS worked perfectly (maintained power and allowed me to manually shut-down). I've also had it the Mac Mini do auto-shut-down in later tests. UPDATE 2: After 9 years (now in 2021) the battery finally died. 9 years is Impressive! The OEM battery ("B.B. Battery HR1234W") and this UPS was active 24/7/365, through hundreds of power blips, sags, and outages, powering a Mac Mini, TV, soundbar, and a few other low-power devices. No problems. But I was surprised that this UPS did not give me any pre-warning about the dead battery. It just gave one last sad long beep (while muted), and stopped working... It wouldn't reliably power up, nor power devices at all. So I got a replacement battery (Power-Sonic PS-1290, 9 Ah), here on Amazon for about twenty bucks, and this UPS is happy and back to normal. PROS: Nice look/feel to the case, auto-off LCD screen, very informative LCD stats, no blue LEDs (yay!), semi-kid-proof power switch, and reportedly "green" power efficiency. My favorite feature is that I can keep it MUTED and it STAYS MUTED. I do NOT want to be woken up in the middle of the night. Happily, when muted, it has never beeped during power interruptions. It's completely quiet when on line AC power, and only has a quiet hum when providing battery power (about as loud as an old external harddrive). I like that it connects to my Mac Mini with no software install needed (Mac OS 10.5 in 2012 instantly adds a "UPS" tab to the MacOS power management panel, and adds a menu-bar battery-status icon so it's now has a battery like a laptop computer). Finally, my mind is at ease knowing this UPS has good AC sine-wave output (better than many other UPSs), according to the cool oscilloscope people. CONS: Minor issues: Sometimes the computer data connection doesn't always refresh after a power outage (I have to unplug/replug the USB cable). As others mentioned, the watts measurement is in fixed (~20W) increments, so this is not as accurate as a Kill-A-Watt meter. Finally, I hate that this and most UPSs don't cover damage if you're using extension cords for power input or output. WTFault?! My UPS-powered devices' approx stats with all things running: 100W -- LCD TV 20W -- Mac Mini (old 2006 model) 20W -- External USB harddrives, Ethernet switch, and a few other devices ------------------------ 140W -- TOTAL (sustained, non-peak load) = UPS reports 20 minutes run-time and 25% Watt-load (CP850PFCLCD model). Example loads and runtimes (approx.): 260W -- total PEAK start-up load = Reports 10 minutes run-time (but peak load lasts less than a minute). 140W -- total sustained load = Reports 20 minutes run-time (roughly 25% load on UPS). <10W -- total standby/sleep load = Reports 96 minutes runtime. :-)

After having a good experience with another model of Cyberpower UPS, I chose this unit to replace an aging APC unit that would not work with my newest home computer. (Active PFC Power supply issue caused shutdown when on battery power) I have a 2011 Mac Mini and 24" Apple Cinema Display, and a pair of external HDDs plugged into the unit and even when the display is charging a laptop and the Mini is playing 1080p video it barely pulls over 100w! I know this neat fact b/c of the handy informational screen on the UPS which means I never have to unplug my computer to use a Kill-A-Watt meter again since the same data is available on the Cyberpower. I chose the Cyberpower 850PFC based on the sizing of the APC unit it was replacing and I have to say it may actually be over-sized for this newer and apparently very efficient system. I would have never realized this without the informational display and am now actually looking for a smaller UPS for this particular computer and will likely move the unit to my modem, switch, and router so I can use it's extra reserves to keep the internet alive longer during outages. As for the unit's interaction with the computer via USB, the Lion OS(10.7) sees the 850PFC and is very cleanly integrated with the UPS as far as controlling a graceful shutdown based on any of several available factors. All in all I believe this UPS is a fantastic bargain given the feature set and price.
