I had a dark spot in my work room and decided to add another light. When I saw the Sunco 2x4 flat panel 5000K 50w light fixture I decided to give it a try. PIC1 (I put the picture number in the upper right corner of each picture because they never end up in the order I add them to the review) shows one side of the installation instruction page. This side shows installation in a dropped ceiling (which is what I have). The other side shows installation for a flat ceiling using an installation kit which is not supplied. The light is dimmable and PIC2 is a compatibility guide for dimmers. I do not use a dimmer in my installation (just full on or off). There is also a "happy with your product" card with contact information if you have any questions. It is nice to have a card like this because in the past I have had products which DO NOT have one and I had no way to contact to resolve my problem. PIC4 shows an access door (removed) which reveals the 3 connections (power, neutral and ground) as well as 2 addition connections if you have a dimmer. You can also see 5 wire nuts which were located behind the door. PIC5 shows the back of the light and PIC6 shows the front of the light. The only issue I had with the light is shown in PIC7. You can see a small screw which was loose in the packing bag the light came in. It was loose because the hole is stripped and you cannot tighten the screw so it will not fall out. This is not a problem because there are more than enough screws that are working properly. I just tossed that screw into the junk. I only mention it FYI. What is so nice about the Sunco light is that it is only 1.5 inches thick. As you can see in PIC8 there is a heating duct directly above the spot I wanted to add the light. The Sunco light easily fit into that restricted clearance spot. Another nice feature is that the light is 5000K which is a very white "daylight" color and is my preference when I buy LED lights. The only installation steps for me were to connect power to the light and then put the light up into the suspended ceiling. It fit perfectly in the 2x4 opening. You can see the installed light in PIC9 If you are looking for a dimmable 2x4 LED light which uses only 50W of power consider the Sunco. It will get the job done! ... show more

    • Nice Looking Light
The people who previously owned my house added 3 rooms and put on a new roof over the whole house, which blocked the skylight. I got this light to put in the hole to make it look better. After I finally got a dimmer switch that matched our decor, I tested it out and it really looks like sunlight coming in on the 5000k setting; dimming it allows it to mimic the setting sun before turning it off completely for the night. I am happy with the light, but the cost was prohibitive for me to want another one. Great product, though! ... show more

    • A huge step forward from the fluorescent light, dropped ceiling fixture it replaces
I used this fixture in a dropped ceiling installation. I replaced a fluorescent fixture that was mounted above a light-refracting panel that was inserted into the dropped ceiling grid. This assembly was in desperate need of replacement - and man, this fixture delivers on that. As the prior fixture was installed with a three-prong outlet connection, I chose to stay with this method, rather than hard-wiring this fixture to Romex cable. this wiring approach was straightforward. When I bench tested the light prior to installation, I was a bit worried that the amount of light emitted was a bit less than what I would want. Not so. Once installed, I was immediately struck that the even, wihite light this fixture produces is more than adequate for my dropped ceiling installation. In fact, it could be less bright than it is. I will probably take advantage of the 10 volt dimming feature in the near future, if nothing else than to give me the variety of brightness that this fixture is capable of. One thing I was a bit puzzled about is the fixture is intended to be installed proud of the dropped ceiling grid, and not within it. The user centers the fixture on the grid above it, and then bends the four tabs on each side of the fixture to pinch the light against the grid. to perform this action, the user must remove adjacent tiles, in order to reach the fixture from above, while installing it with the tabs pinching the grid. The puzzle is i'm not clear why these lights are intended to be proud of (below the) grid, rather than nested within the grid as ceiling tiles are. Perhaps it is because the rectangular case would not fit within the grid when installing it, but I'm not too sure. I do like the aesthetics of the fixture below the grid, so no harm no foul. I'll update this review when I've had the dimming feature installed, probably over the next month or two. It's initial installation with full brightness is spot on, so five stars is in order. ... show more
