I bought the version with the pocket on the bottom, and I assume many of here also will. My location can be windy and I wanted to use this as a wind break so my intention was to have a snug fit. You really need a way to secure the bottom or else it will quickly begin to tear along the vertical seams starting at the bottom. In my attempt to add more weight to the bottom I came here and saw the manufacturer said the pocket along the bottom has a 3" diameter. A 3" PVC will NOT work (even though the outside diameter of mine was around 2.8"). I bought a 2" and even that did not work. The pocket is not the same size throughout and I couldn't push it over 1/2 way through. Just to get it that far I had to use a heat gun and was afraid it would damage the plastic. So I had to cut the PVC and slide the other half in the other side. But a coupler is too big too. So I cut off a portion and cut a strip out of it to use that as a coupler (huge pain), but it isn't as rigid as I had hoped. All this took a lot of time as my tears got worse. It would be really helpful to know how we are supposed to secure the bottom. Here are three pics: 1) The tear (this is on both sides) 2) how I ended up securing it with a bolt like I did with the grommets, 3) my 2" pvc showing how this area of my pocket was too tight so the pocket was less than 2" in this area ... show more

Purchased 8x12 for one side of a patio. Very pleased with the quality, and manufacturing. A very heavy material. Stays totally clear. We made sure it was at room temperature and a day in the high 60s when we unfolded and hung it. One needs to avoid folding or unfolding it when cold. I ordered it a bit wide to ensure it would fill the space, as the indication was there is some variance in the final size. Will cut that end (with the grommets) and fold the plastic back on itself and glue it with HH-66 vinyl cement, A 3/4 in PVC pipe with a small extension worked fine on the bottom. Fold lines disappeared after hanging for a few days. Customer service has been excellent, They have responded to questions within a few hours. Be advised, it does come with a horizontal seam across the middle, but we do not find it to be an issue. There are youtube videos on the HH-66 and on similar clear tarp products being used as a "wall" on a patio. Both were helpful. ... show more

We have had these up for about 2 weeks we use them for our back porch they are of good quality unfortunately we noticed it ripped along the seem causing the plastic to unravel across the bottom very unfortunate,it's summer here in Upstate NY what will happen in the winter?

    • EXCELLENT QUALITY
I LOVE these clear panels! We purchased them to convert my gazebo into a greenhouse, and so far, so good! The plastic is nice and thick and heavy and very clear! There are a few minor negatives I should mention: (1) some of the panels were not completely even (IE: the top of the panel was 1 1/2" larger than the bottom of the panel). They do stretch a bit, so they worked out fine. We used the grommet system to secure the panels to the wood frame of our gazebo. (2) Panels fit nicely, but due to the folds in the plastic and the spaces between the grommets, they do not fit as snuggly as they appear in the manufacturer's photo. I have carpenter bees that keep entering in the spaces between the grommets and get stuck between the panels and the existing gazebo screens, but they do manage to find their way out after a few moments. (3) Because of the slightly irregular panel sizes and the narrowness of the wood frame we had to work with on our gazebo in places, getting the panels on tightly without wrinkles was a challenge. Despite these minor flaws, overall, we are still very pleased with the product, and they are achieving what we hoped for. I would recommend them to others. ... show more

I used a 10’x7’ panel and a 20’x7’ panel to enclose a section of our clubs deck that has a roof, but was still open on one side. We can add about ten tables and the area stays warm with mobile heaters. I was worried that the 20’ section would be a bit too much to handle, and it is a lot, but after building a frame and fastening it to it with threaded inserts and thumbscrews, it looks great and functions just as I had hoped. Three uprights keep the wind from making it “belly” too much and pvc pipes in the bottom sleeves keep the bottom stiff. I put steel L brackets inside the pvc pipes to keep them stiff. The managers and patrons are very happy and and the total investment for the return we get is a win. ... show more

I cannot recommend Akon enough. Ann and her team provided peak customer service, which is a rarity these days. My husband and I ordered just under $1,000 worth of enclosures for our patio for the winter. Our first batch we received came in quickly, but the order wasn't quite right. There was some design discussion that ensued amongst all of us. Akon replaced all of our enclosures at no cost to us and they are beautiful. They came quickly, boxed beautifully, and perfectly manufactured. We received them on Thursday last week and by Saturday we hung them up. We are so excited to use our outdoor patio this winter! There's a seam 18 inches from bottom that was not mentioned when ordering. Very strong material but that seam bothers me. Their videos on YouTube show nothing when you watch. They give suggestions on how to install without showing how, just some little pictures of what you can get to hang but when you try to find the ones that would actually work, you can't find them.. I believe I'm owed a refund for the 2 inches I was shorted and the seam across the lower 18 inches of the curtain. I'm having to spend over $50 just to get it to fit so I don't have to return it and wait for another. I have to buy lumber and it will most likely cost more than $50 ... show more
