Does a great job doing simple toast or bagels. I was tired of burnt bagels so decided to get one with a wide opening and a bagel button. Basically, it turns of the center heater eliminates so the heat only comes from the outside. Face your bagel with cut side towards the outside. Gives you a good range for darkness and browning. The media could not be loaded. Love this toaster!! Not only is it BEAUTIFUL on my counter but it is powerful! Toasts regular store bought honey wheat bread slices that are stored in the refrigerator PERFECTLY for us on level 1. Toasts regular store bought raisin bread slices that are stored in the refrigerator PERFECTLY for us on level 2. Leftover home made waffles stored in the refrigerator rewarmed PERFECTLY for us on level 2. My only CON: the toaster gets hot due to the beautiful stainless steel covering so to prevent a fire or damage to anything, I maintain awareness of its surroundings while it’s in use. ... show more

Delivered quickly... Packaged OK. Looks alright. A little on the lighter side construction-wise... Controls work well so far, but, the "Bagel" button, when pushed, turns off the center elements... No other toaster I have ever owned does this. The outer elements are what usually turn off when "Bagel" mode is activated and this is the more "Natural" way to load toaster with a freshly sliced bagel (cut sides facing each other). Hence, my first pass through ended up burning the bottoms of my bagel with no toasting on the creme cheese sides... Not a game-changer, but now have to warn anyone that uses it for a bagel to reversed the loading... So, just be aware... ... show more

The first one I ordered had a bad heating element, but Amazon made it super easy to exchange and once I got one that worked, I loved it. I have no idea why I am loving the timer on it, but I do. There is a bagel and defrost button. I haven't used the defrost feature, but the way it dries out the bread as it toasts, I can't see it not working well. I will say that the toasting levels (ie the pictures they show of the shades of the toast) I think is a bit off. I like my toast on the lighter side, but I have the setting at 3. So if you like your toast closer to blackened, you'll most likely have to double-toast your bread. ... show more

Hands down, best toaster I have ever owned! Features are listed, but the things I still cannot get over: count-down timer with easy toasting cancel button; extra-high lift to pull out small pieces of bread; extra-wide slots for croissants (need to cut in half) or bagels; one-sided toasting; all for under $40! I guess style is a personal preference, but I love the classic silver stainless steel housing. Haven't tried out the defrost option (don't expect to use it), but I have seen some customers complain about how well it works. We have been using the toaster daily for two weeks now.
