Description

Whatever your task at hand -- whether it's launching that boat before daybreak, setting up your camper before the rush or getting a final load to the dump before close -- CURT class 3 trailer hitches offer the strength needed for serious towing. They make it easy to hitch up and Bring It, offering a vehicle-specific fit and the weight capacity to handle a variety of trailers. Custom class 3 hitches are the most common type of receiver hitch for pickup trucks and SUVs. Because of their weight range, they are also found on full-size cars, crossovers and minivans. Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Chrysler Pacifica (except hybrid; see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 4,000 lbs. GTW and 400 lbs. TW. It is also compatible with a weight distribution hitch for level towing and a rating of 5,000 lbs. WD and 500 lbs. WDTW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with rugged, high-strength steel and precise welding. We also protect our class 3 hitches in a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and black powder coat for superior resistance to rust, chipping and UV damage.

  • Pretty happy with it
2022 Pacifica. Putting a hitch on your van has become more work since there so much more shielding underneath now than there has been before. However, this hitch did alright. Took off all the shielding, did end up taking off the driver side rear tire to get to some of the screws. Muffler mounts came off with some WD40, tried taking a 3rd one off to see if there was easier access but the passenger side frame is just a bit obstructed either way. Bit of a hiccup when threading the bolts, one of the wires snapped off with the bolt and washer inside the frame. Wasn’t pulling with too much pressure, definitely something to look out for, could have been a real disaster. Some creative problem solving and we were able to get it back out then rethread with a different wire. Hitch went in place just fine, fit really well and snugged down well. Passenger side was a bit tight to get a torque wrench in, luckily my neighbor had one with some articulation but a standard one some of this bolts would have been tough even with extenders. Wasn’t off center like some have mentioned. Putting the shield back on went pretty smooth. Cut the heat shield about where the instructions say, but I felt like the amount of the soft black shielding they recommended you cut out was way too much, I was able to get it back on with removing just a smaller chunk right over the receiver which allowed me to still fasten the shielding on all across the back. Overall went pretty well and I’ve put several hitches on my vehicles at home. Very careful pulling you bolts through, wire not totally reliable. Haven’t done the wiring yet but the hitch itself if you have your tools ready goes on pretty well. ... show more

Product was packed well, arrived quickly, and installation was fairly easy. Extremely pleased with hitch.

  • Really well made
Solid and heavy duty trailer hitch. Great value too. My husband installed it on our Chrysler Van and he said it was moderately difficult to install.

  • Nice, strong looking hitch that is easy to install
First, this is a nice class 3 hitch. I am confident it will serve me for years go come. But why did I give it four stars, not five? The Chrysler Pacifica has this felt/plastic under car shield that kind of protects from splashes under the body but also improves the aerodynamics. I had to cut a bunch of it out of the way to install this hitch. I looked over a bunch of hitches both on Amazon and other and this one looked like I would not have to cut the shield, sorry cutting was involved. The good news is, the instructions are right on and those little fish wires for putting bolts into the frame are genius. Excellent hitch, except for the cut plastic/felt shield (complain, complain, yeah but I paid more because I thought i could keep my shield intact, oh well.) ... show more

  • Perfect factory fit and very recessed!
I was wanting a factory custom fit class c hitch and this is the one for the Pacifica! I was able to install did not have to remove hardly any of the under covering panel even though the instructions suggested to remove a decent amount. Check out the pics and I have tested the hitch with about a 1000 mile trip towing a trailer with a 700 pound bike. No worries! I am a believer in using the unbolt and plate to stop rattling and make the trailer super secure. Separate item. ... show more

  • Can be done by yourself
Installed on a 2019 Pacifica (non-hybrid) by myself. Start to finish (with some beers breaks, talking to my curious 3yr old son, and my wife tending to a cut I gave myself), this took me 3hr 30mins. I did not jack my vehicle up off the ground but, if you have a friend to help you, I really think that’s the way to go and would be far more comfortable. I instead used a floor jack to get the hitch up into position, and I used two jack stands to help support it so it couldn’t slip and smash my face. No packaging on the hitch assembly other than shipping labels and the bolts/washers/nuts/fish wires/instructions taped to the receiver. Mine arrived with little to no cosmetic scratches but it would be nice if they placed all the parts into a plastic bag before taping them to the assembly for shipping. Instructions aren’t too bad - you could figure it out from just the sheets of paper provided. There are a few videos on YouTube, including one by a shop where they install this exact model… however, they cut the muffler heat shield differently, don’t trim (or reinstall) the undercarriage protection, and do something slightly different on the driver side. Getting all the undercarriage protection off the van was a slight pain - specifically the four 8mm bolts in the vicinity of the left rear wheel well. I removed/reinstalled them with the wheel still on but, if I did this again, I would probably take off the driver side rear wheel to help it go faster. Getting the exhaust off the supports was a tad challenging without a pry bar or exhaust pliers, but I made it work with WD-40 and choice some curse words. Cutting the muffler heat shield isn’t super easy either, but I also used ratcheting PVC cutting scissors that are intended to repair sprinkler systems - so there’s that. The fish wires worked as intended. Having another set of hands would have really helped with getting the washer/nut onto the bolt as you’re also trying to take off the fish wire. If you do it by yourself and start getting frustrated, take a quick break and come back to it after a few minutes. After all 6 bolts are in and the hitch is snug, you get the muffler back on - that’s a lot easier than removing it. I trimmed the undercarriage protection with a hand saw and I’m glad I chose to reinstall it as I think it will help dampen road noise for my wife/kids in the back row. Getting those four 8mm bolts reinstalled in the vicinity of the left wheel-well takes the most time as you’re trying to fit your hands behind the wheel and it’s just awkward positioning. I thought I had a decent tool arsenal but, before you start, make sure you have a deep socket 3/4” or 19mm. 1 I had to borrow one because my normal 3/4” socket wasn’t deep enough and that prevented me from fully tightening the bolts. Everything else I used was good enough to “get the job done” but it might be worth the $10 to pick up muffler pliers from Harbor Freight, or something better at cutting the exhaust shield. Probably not a bad idea to wear gloves, too. All in all, I’d recommend this product and would purchase it again. I slightly scuffed it up during the install and used a black paint pen to touch everything up. I got all the nuts snug but made sure the hitch was dead center on my van before tightening them to torque. I did not install the electrical kit today but have it and hope to do that in the near future. This was the first time I’ve installed a trailer hitch and I did this in my garage on a holiday weekend. Although I have a sense of pride from doing this and I’m glad I did it myself to save money, I’d probably pay someone $150 to do this. If I didn’t have my own floor jack/jack stands/the stuff I needed to cut the muffler heat shield/stuff I needed to cut undercarriage protection/torque wrench, I’d probably bite the bullet and be willing to pay someone $250 to do this. ... show more

  • Fit perfectly
If you follow the directions and use the bolt guide lines to install them it is a relatively easy install. It took longer to take off all the panels to access the frame than it did to install the actual hitch. Perfect fit and works as designed on my 2020 Pacifica.

  • Good fit
Installation of hitch on 2017 Pacifica was pretty easy for me. Watched a couple utube vids. I didn't trim as much of the heat shield as suggested. A second set of hands is helpful. Solid setup. Towing two light trailers and using a bike rack.
