For me - dry hair this is a regular brush. However with wet hair this brush helps to untangle and simultaneously clump small strands together to dry together and applies some pressure to encourage a curl effect. (Think of a balloon string.) Any other time my hair is frizzy and I need to use oil to smooth it down This is my hair after a wash and a brush and some time to air dry. Almost no friz vs the waves each strand would have. This brush I is it together and I love it.

I was a click away from returning this item bc it looked ridiculous and did not believe it would work. I thought it would be good to try it out before I judged it and boy was I wrong! I have never encountered a brush this efficient and made of durable quality, and a definite bang for your buck. I only sprayed water on my dried curls, sectioned it while I brushed it, and my curls came out looking soft and better than ever before. I have hair type 3A. Highly recommend for curling! I section my 2C hair and use this to brush each section smooth then tilt the brush to separate into equal strands. Working from the bottom up and letting it air dry results in rather well defined curls. It's all plastic, reasonable quality. I detangle before use. Comfortable on the scalp.

I am almost 50 years old and I finally love a hairbrush. This is it. I have an extremely sensitive scalp, and this is the first brush I have ever tried that does not cause me a private life of tearful agony. I did start from my ends, with some conditioner in my hair, and work toward the roots—I always have, to try to minimize the pain. But this brush actually feels really good on my head. I can’t believe it. I was actually on the verge of cutting my hair again because it’s so painful to brush out when long, no matter how carefully I work at it, and my curls were so inconsistent. Now for the curls: I have fine, thin, wavy-2c hair, with some sun-damaged 2a and 2b on top. Normally I must pin-curl the top layers so they don’t hang down straight (and longer) over my lower coils. This brush can’t make genetically 2a hair change into genetically 2c hair, but it does help bring out whatever curls one has that are struggling and need a little help. I didn’t know I had 2b on top until using this brush. I still need to do protein treatments and some trimming, but even my damaged, sun-bleached tresses can go up a curl level closer to their natural design with this brush, and a little leave-in conditioner. I did need to look up “how to use a curl defining brush” videos on YT, for guidance. The side ridges for shaping curl-clumps work brilliantly—better than hair picks and curly-hair combs do, for some reason, even if I separate sections for combing with them, and shake out those sections, just as one does with these brushes. The pointed handle is useful for parting sections out, but I haven’t mastered curl-training with it yet (also seen on YT videos). I think my hair is just too damaged for that, at this time.

A handy brush for its price. I bought it to use on my 3 year olds hair which automatically tangles, it unfortunately doesn’t get through her hair unless it’s already brushed but it does its job when I am putting her hair up and want to have the right hair look with little to no fly always. It makes it so I’m not switching between a normal brush and a boar bristle brush to achieve the same look. Overall it’s still a win.
