  • A review from someone who had the SS700 and now has used the new one long enough to share
Color: Silver
I'm writing this after having had brewed a good 100 cups of coffee with it. My history is I had used the old larger version of this. I went through a brewer around 2013, was in the 2yr warranty and got it replaced no charged by cuisinart as the pump wasn't doing well. Then I bought another before they went to the new model currently offered and unfortunately it started to just not handle the new cups, I was getting half cups of what I wanted. So I decided to retire the old coffee maker and saw alot of reviews from people like myself who at first glance probably were not happy with the changes. I loved my old version but as a lot of times happens, the old equipment eventually goes bad and you can't repair them. Out of my own curiosity to what changed with this new version, I took it a step further on my old version to see what was inside the bigger version. The old version had a water tank, it was amber almost like some synthetic plastic/glass with heating elements like an electric water heater. it had to heat up, pressurize and pump. Over time this heat in a tank and plastic parts and let's be honest just ok air pump and water pump it starts to fail over time. I think I got lucky with a good 5 years and probably 2000 cups dispenses. I drink a lot of coffee daily! The new version is a smaller footprint. The tray is much smaller. What is different with this design is the new version has no water storage tank inside, now it runs the water to the k-cup, while that water is getting to the k-cup, it goes through a heating coil. This is much different and hence why it pumps slow and is smaller. I think the cup brew is hotter and better flavor that the old unit. The top cap to press down on the k-cup is improved in my opinion to ensure a tight seal and pump. Engineering seems better for ensuring a good outcome with the cups. I'm ok with that. If that means that there is less scaling and water tank issues and pumps failing this works. Same problems as the other unit with filling larger travel mugs. You have to brew into smaller cup then pour into your travel mug. Not a huge deal to me. The water tank no longer has a blue led light to blink when it's getting low. The tank is different designed, the charcoal spot is different how it seats but I have no idea if it's better or similar. The tank is a little smaller but I probably get 5 large coffee brews before I refill it or I just refill a water cup while it's brewing. So far so good. The warranty experience in past model I had was excellent. I don't know if I'll need it but last time cuisinart took care of a brewer that had failed me. I would expect the same experience should I need it. I'll come back if something changes but so far it's been a good replacement. I don't know if anything will ever be perfect but cuisinart makes a good k-cup brewer. If you are trying to figure out the best k-cup brewer, I can attest to 10+ years of this brand and alot of cups brewed. It's a good machine! ... show more

  • This machine excels in all aspects important to brewing a great cup of coffee ...
Color: Silver
This is my second K-cup coffee maker. I had one of the original Keurig machines and while it did it's job for the better part of 4 years, there were a couple of operational niggles that I lived with the whole time I owned it. Coffee is supposed to be served hot and my Keurig was never quite hot enough there wasn't any recourse to correct the issue. It was also slow, loud and serving sizes were inconsistent. I know this looks like three more items, but in actuality all stemmed from the same inadequate pump system. When its pump finally quit and put itself out of my misery, I began to research a replacement maker. I began to read about Keurig's controversial pod policy and decided I wanted to find an alternative company to purchase from. In all honesty, there really aren't that many companies that successfully make a competitive machine. The one that I do have substantial experience with (largely positive) was Cuisinart and that's where I focused my research ... It was a good decision. I settled on the SS-10 and not only does it correct my two primary pet peeves with my previous Keurig, it does just about everything better. Here's a list of my Pros and Cons of this coffee maker; Pros; 00 Most importantly ... it can use ANY coffee pod, made by ANY company designed to work in a k-cup capsule holder - PERIOD!!! 01 The system is one of the best looking makers on the market 02 Build quality is very good with solid fit and precise controls 03 Instant start - when you press the "Brew" button, it instantly begins to drop hot coffee in your cup 04 Not only is the coffee hot, you can adjust it to your liking 05 Proper temperature of the beverage has a very distinct and positive effect on the coffee's flavor 06 The maker is much quieter than my previous Keurig 07 Five cup sizes are available with the default being programmable 08 Programmable On/Off feature - energy saving 09 Clever hot water option that allows you to rinse the water path prior to brewing 10 Large water reservoir 11 Provided with a Reusable Filter Cup along with it's own onboard compartment 12 Very competitive pricing Cons; 01 The charcoal filter holder is fragile and can break easily 02 I wish the water reservoir lid was designed with an integral grip or handle, I've managed to drop it more than once when removing it to fill 03 The on/off switch location is inconvenient If you haven't guessed by now, I really love this maker ... if it provides decent longevity, it will be one of my best appliance purchases. This machine excels in all aspects important to brewing a great cup of coffee, you owe it to yourself to include this maker on your shortlist. ... show more

  • Best coffee maker i have ever purchased
Color: Silver
i have always bought the other brand but last one was defective so decided to try this brand as it has always had a good reputation for quality. It did not disappoint. i absolutely love it. it has several size options and even an extra hot option. takes about a minute and a half to make my coffee from start to finish. there are other options of setting a timer for it but for me i don't use that option. yet lol. it has a clock so you can even see the time. Totally worth the money. woohoo ... show more
