I must admit that I was dubious when I purchased this cooktop, but after I prepared my first meal using it I was convinced that we were going to have a long-lasting, happy relationship. This induction cooktop is closer to cooking with gas than it is to cooking with electricity. I know that sounds impossible, but I feel it is true. I had just come from a very nice home with an excellent gas range to temporary housing with a dreadfully outdated and dangerous gas cooktop, and I needed something better. After several unsuccessful attempts at getting the cooktop replaced, I simply bought this induction cooktop and a set of Vremi induction cookware. It was an excellent pairing, and I am here to say that this cooktop heats so very quickly that it is like cooking with gas. The burners temperatures are easily regulated and each even has its own built-in timer. The surface is an entirely smooth one, and it is quite easy to clean with a soft cloth and a foaming cleaner--nothing harsh! I highly recommend this product to anyone who has limited space and wants a GREAT cooktop that simply sits on the counter and plugs into a 110 outlet. It has the advantage of being able to be moved as needed. I love it, and plan to take it with me when I move to my permanent dwelling (despite the fact that I shall have a regular gas range there). ... show more

I love the ease of cleaning and it does okay with boiling and frying, but when it comes to the slow simmer of a well made sauce, it falls flat on its face. I do a great deal of sauces and even at the lowest setting, the heat was not even and always too much so that I burnt several pans of sauce. So have a back up for sauces because induction will ruin them or keep you in the kitchen constantly stirring. ... show more

This item is quite easy to use and functions exactly as designed and advertised. It is designed for table top applications, though in MY OPINION, it could be an install. It would require a very close tolerance cutout (22.75" x 13"), with a slight notch at the center of the rear mounting surface to account for a power cord that protrudes from the body, just below the .25" topside lip overhang at the rear of this unit. Also, 4" of air clearance around the bottom and sides of unit, and the use of a 24" x 12" heat shield (tape material), on the mounting surface below the unit, the entire the width of the rear of the unit. The heat shield would deflect the warm air coming from the fans on the units bottom side, especially the larger burner on the left side. The exhaust air gets warm, but not too hot. The enclosing case is plastic. As viewed from the top, to the left, right and down the center, are narrow strips of the case exposed. On the first use I wasn’t careful with pan placement and as a result the leftmost strip now has a melted portion caused by the heat of the pan. A better design would have recessed the plastic below the level of the two glass cooktops. It still functions of course, but it’s nice to keep new things looking new for a while, at least. ... show more
