This Cuisinart espresso machine was more affordable than the other pricey ones. It’s a well known brand that’s recognized for quality. Based on that, I decided to make this purchase. It makes the single and double size espressos and it makes them quickly. It,s compatible with the Nespresso brand pods. While on vacation I enjoyed making espressos every morning in my hotel room using the original well know brand espresso maker & I knew this was a must have for my own kitchen. This cuisinart performs as well as that hotel espresso machine & makes a great espresso very quickly. I really recommend this product for the quality, price & performance. A well designed machine with plenty of options to maximize your espresso experience. The beat feature of this little machine is the ability to adjust brew volume for the espresso and double espresso (Lungo). Brewing temperature can also be adjusted to ensure you get the level of extraction you want. Auto off/standby time can be set as well. Many machine lack these options so it's something to consider if you like to fine tune your espresso. Cuisinart really did a good job on this machine. After reading the negative reviews I was skeptical about this machine. I have wanted to replace our Essenza Mini as it seems to occasionally leak from the tiny water tank and it only holds 4 spent Nespresso capsules. This new model from Cuisinart has a 700 ml water tank (the Mini needs to be filled daily). It also holds 12 used pods, meaning we can wait 3 days between emptying. I liked the programmable brewing temperature and the being able to adjust the lungo cup size up to 100 ml digitally. One caveat is that the amount of "crema" or foam seems to be less than what we are used to with the Essenza Mini, but so far I like the taste of Peet's/Costco capsules as brewed in this machine using the 100 ml setting. I will further experiment with the water temperature (I am currently using 201 F) as it may be possible to get more foam/crema going forward. Note further, we have enough counter space to keep the Essenza Mini side by side with the Cuisinart machine and that way we can do further testing and comparisons! ... show more

This espresso maker is comparable to the Nespresso original espresso machines. It makes a good cup of espresso in a short period of time although there isn't as much crema as the Nespresso machines. It also doesn't seem to be as fragile as many of the Nespresso espresso machines I've owned/used. It has two adjustment features that could be better. The first adjustment allows users to raise the amount of espresso into the single or double cup. The 45milliliter (ml) single espresso maximum adjustment is too small as a normal serving of espresso usually measures up to 60 ml. The double espresso maximum adjustment to 100ml is also too small as a lungo or double espresso cup usually measures up to 120ml. The second adjustment allows users to raise the brew temperature from 200 to 205 degrees Fahrenheit. I raised mine to this maximum but noticed no discernible difference in the two brew temperatures. While I appreciate concerns regarding too hot of a brew, I would think brewing temperatures for this machine would closely match the brew temperatures used by Starbucks or Nespresso. ... show more

    • Broke after 1 month -Horrific Customer Service

We ordered our EM-15 on September 5, by October 15th it had stopped working. I called Cuisinart on October 16th. They agreed to honor their warranty and ship us a new machine. Despite multiple customer service calls and MANY promises by Cuisinart customer service, it is now November 1st and I still do not have a replacement machine. Customer service is of little help. Each time I call they tell me “don’t worry, you’ll have a tracking number tomorrow or the next day” - the deadline comes and goes and there still is no tracking number. I just got off the phone with them because yesterday they missed another promised deadline for a tracking number. Now I’m being told to wait longer for yet another phantom tracking number deadline. Part of the reason I bought a Cuisinart was because of their reputation for customer service. This experience has taught me that Cuisinart customer service is truly abysmal. Do better! ... show more

    • wow, this is a game changer…

We use this far more than our keurig now. It makes frothy delicious espresso, which is even better after adding the frothy milk from the electric frother we also got. Now I take a latte with me instead of going thru the drive thru. I thought we would use it some, but the espresso is so much better than the keurig that it really changed our coffee habits. The pods are about $.60 for Starbucks espresso and certainly saves $$ over coffee shop. Quite amazing how good the flavor and aroma is!! Get this and get an electric frother, and have your own delicious home espressos lattes!! ... show more

We had to replace a Nespresso Lattissima which "gave up the ghost" after not being used few a few months - tried every remedy posted on YouTube but no joy. Expensive bookend. After research and not needing the milk frothier we selected this unit based on price, features and reviews. It makes a perfect cup with a beautiful crema on the top every time.
