  • Really Cool!
Style: 2 Blades
What I was really looking for was a battery powered knife. But, the few available have terrible ratings so I wound up purchasing this corded knife. I wanted to replace a corded Hamilton Beach model that we've had for a number of years. As some have noted, in many homes these knives come out only on holidays to carve the meat. This was true for us, but, we have recently gotten interested in bread making, albeit, cheating by using a bread machine. The hardest thing about making your own bread is slicing it (I guess that's why someone invented "sliced" bread). If you try to use a standard bread knife, you have to hold the loaf so tightly that you "crush" it. What you end up with is a slice shaped like an hourglass and about 5 inches tall by 1 inch wide. An electric knife solves this problem although it takes some practice to cut a "straight" slice. The Hamiton Beach machine did okay but it seemed to be slower than it should have been so I started thinking that it might be dull. Looking at the many corded knives on Amazon, there didn't seem to be any that were that highly rated. The prices for most knives were in the $25 range, about half of the price of this knife. I reflected on problems I had with the Hamilton Beach. The biggest problem is that if you want to use if daily, you have to leave it on the kitchen counter. The knife with the blade installed takes up a lot of room since it has to "lie" down. It's too much work to remove the blade, unplug it, and store it in a cabinet. This Cuisinart solves that problem by allowing you to store the unit vertically. It's pretty easy to remove the blade and return the blade and knife back to the storage block. But, one of its most important features is that it looks really cool on my countertop. Even if it fails, I will keep it there just to impress my friends when they come over. The unit also has a more flexible cord than the Hamilton Beach. The Hamilton Beach cord had a mind of its own and would always seem to jump in front of the blade just as I was ready to cut something. The Cuisinart seems to cut at about the same speed as the Hamilton Beach so I don't think that the Hamilton Beach knife was actually dull. If I could add anything to the Cuisinart, I would add MORE blades. This would make the knife even cooler! There should be an EPEE sword blade (I was on the fencing team in college), a pruning blade for working in the garden, and perhaps even a small steak knife blade for cutting those cheap cuts of meat that we have to buy because meat has become so expensive. Summing up, I haven't used this knife very long, I've not yet used it to cut meat, and I know that it has been poorly reviewed by some. But, if you're go to pay $25 for an electric knife and take your chances, why not pop another $25 and get something really cool! ... show more

  • The Bomb!
Style: 1 Blade/1 Carving Fork
I used the ole Black n Decker $25 knife for a few years. The primary purpose is to thinly slice grilled chicken breast. It worked fine, but the trigger was garbage and finally quit working. There are so many great cordless tools/appliances out there and I thought why not a cordless electric knife. So without breaking the bank I purchased one with good reviews for less than $50. What a disappointment. Maybe fine for slicing a few veggies, but not for the weekly chicken breasts. Would it do it, sure but slow and had a flimsy blade. I decided to go back to corded knife and checked the reviews. This one had mostly good reviews. It was twice the price of the cheap ones but I decided to give it a try. Never thought an electric knife would make me smile every time I use it. Twice as good as the old black n decker and four times better than the cordless that I paid the same price for. Powerful motor. Strong, stiff blade. Ergonomic handle (some reviews said it was too bulky. I’m an average sized guy and have zero issue). This is a great knife. Highly recommend over the cheap corded knives and the mid-priced cordless knives. Not sure about the expensive cordless knives. If this one ever dies I will replace it with the same knife 💪🏻 ... show more

  • Nice knife
Style: 1 Blade
We used it to slice Thanksgiving Turkey and it stopped working halfway through. I threw it out. I’m sorry for the bad review I originally gave this. One of the breakers went so that’s why the knife stopped working!

  • Almost Perfect
Style: 1 Blade/1 Carving Fork
Compared to other electric knives I've tried; this one is the best and deserves 5 stars but there are a few improvements I would make. I use this knife to routinely slice up large turkey breasts. Pros: * Great power. * The blades are perfectly flush together, as they should be. Opportunities to improve: * The grip circumference is really large. Perhaps this is necessary to accommodate the powerful motor and gearing, but it makes holding and using the knife harder on the hand and forearm. Maybe not an issue for people with large hands * I would prefer as offset blade option. Because the grip circumference is so large, maneuvering the knife down all the way through the meat and to the cutting board is awkward. Offset blades would make it much easier. ... show more

  • Love it!
Style: 2 Blades
I purchased one of these apparently 25 years ago from a store which closed and I can’t remember the name. Anyway, we moved almost seven years ago and I had placed it in my basement storage room along with a lot of other things since my current kitchen is much smaller than the one I had before. Then one day I decided to donate a bunch of stuff and I donated this. Of course, a couple of months later, I regretted it so I decided to purchase another one at a very much higher price…😕 ... show more
