Great toaster with the right options
Color: Silver
Size: 2-Slice
I really like this toaster. For years, we’ve been using our Smart Oven (essentially a fancy toaster oven) as a toaster, but I finally gave in to convenience and got a toaster. I wanted something nicer than the bare-bones, super cheap model, but I didn’t need one of the expensive models that had 75 different options and toasting styles that’s I’d most likely never use. That’s unnecessary, complicated overkill. I did some research and I like that America’s Test Kitchen rated this model really high and said it toasted evenly. They were right! Whether I put in a bagel, simple sandwich bread, a banana, a pop-tart or more, everything comes out evenly toasted with no light spots or burnt edges. It has a nice group of choices for bread types or sweets (without going overboard) and I like the defrost button for frozen items. I haven’t found anything yet that toasted poorly with this toaster. I also like that I can do multiple toastings - one right after another - without it getting too hot or toasting unevenly. Since it’s only my husband and I in the household, I don’t need the large footprint of a 4 slice toaster, so it’s nice to know that when the grandkids come over, I can do multiple rounds of toasting without any issues. I love how fast the toaster works. I was used to the long waits of a toaster oven, but just about everything I’ve made gets done in 5 min or less. I also really like the fact that it was easy to figure out. I didn’t need any directions to start using it. Overall, it’s a great toaster at a reasonable price.

An excellent toaster
Color: Silver
Size: 2-Slice
You tell it the type of bread you are toasting and how dark you want it. Then it makes toast exactly as you asked.

Handy Extra Slots - Lasted 3.5 years
I really didn't think I needed a four slot toaster, but with the computer controls it is super handy to have the sets on different settings. Some really dense bread will not toast enough even at the maximum setting, which is oddly 7 and I wish it was 9, so with that loaf you can set the other side to 2 and get what you want. Mostly it works fine and looks really great. I have toasters that are uneven, which is a terrible trait, but this is good but not perfect as the middle is a bit more toasted than the edges but not by enough to reject the toaster unless someone has found the perfect toaster. === It lasted 3.5 years, and the warranty was 3 years. Well one side is dead, the other continues, so sort of a hidden benefit over a two slot toaster. I did take it apart and cleaned and looked for the issue. Still won’t work. Sadly more waste.

An even and complete toast
Color: Silver
Size: 2-Slice
In 70 years I have owned many toasters. This one makes the best toast. Even browning across the slice and even side to side. Easy +/- adjustments to get the browning level you like best. It could use just a bit more room. It does hold a standard slice well and that is what I use almost all the time.

Toast lever hard to operate
Color: Silver
Size: 2-Slice
Updated 8/24. Replacement toaster works great. Would give it 5 stars now.. Updated 8/19. Cuisinart is shipping a replacement. Warranty process very easy, but they make you cut the power cord off and send a picture of the cut power cord, so now I will be without a toaster for a few weeks. I'll update again when I receive the new toaster. The toast lever has to be pushed down very hard (slammed down) in order for it to stay down so that the toaster starts. I'm worried it will fail over time. Will contact Cuisinart for replacement.

Weak, Inconsistent Toaster
After seeing both positive and negative reviews for this toaster (like other products), I decided to take a chance and order it. However, my experience was a clone of poor, unfortunate souls (cue Ursula, the Sea Witch). My first try was an english muffin. I set the toaster for "english muffin" and, among 7 degrees of toasting, I started with 4. The muffin turned out warm but without any browning. I cranked the toaster up to 5 and immediately retried with the same muffin in the same slots. After another 2 minutes, it emerged as I desired. On my ancient, two-slice toaster, that thing would have been rightly crispy-crittered. My second attempt was a single slice of white bread. I set the toaster on "white bread" and the degree of toasting on 5. I inserted the bread into the far right slot (marked on the toaster for a single slice). It came up untoasted. I inserted a fresh slice into the same slot, upgraded the setting to 6 (one shy of the maximum). As you can see in the photo (slice on the right), it was barely browned on both sides. I inserted one more fresh slice on the far left slot and set the toaster to 6 (as on the right side). The slice came out properly and evenly toasted on both sides (left slice). Peering down the slots during each toasting attempt, I noticed that one side of each slot did not have all the heating elements glowing red. A few elements glowed only halfway across. Judging by reviews, getting a decent Cuisinart unit is a crapshoot. As I type this, I'm waiting for this appliance to cool off, so I can pack it up and return it . Yes, this thing is toast.

Good for standard bread slices, not great for bagels
Color: Silver
Size: 2-Slice
Cuisinart CPT-720 2-Slice Digital Toaster is easy to use and can adjust to your bread type (grain, sweet, bagel, etc...). I prefer a slightly darker toast and while the toaster delivers for standard sized bread slices, it doesn't do a great job toasting bagels, especially whole grain bagels. At the highest setting (7), the bagel comes out slightly toasted. In order to get to the level of darkness I desire, I must toast it for an addition 2 minutes or so. More of an annoyance than a fatal flaw.

I think it’s good among many bad options
Honestly I don’t know why there is not a single good toaster out there. Every one of them have problems. The problems with this one are it doesn’t toast the sides, the slots are big enough for normal bread sizes. Any long or tall ones will have to be cut in half. I also don’t know why it has 10 toast settings. Anything above 5 will burn any bread. The single side option does work but you have to click on it before pressing down. But it will toast it slightly anyway. Memory settings are good but I find it useless. I would trade the memory settings for a bigger slot.
