I was looking for an inexpensive few knives to augment my "good" ones and came across these. My wife and I love them and the blade covers they come with. They come with a good sharp edge and a variety of styles that we find match anything we want to do.... and we like that they are color coded so I don't have to think about which one I want- I just reach for the color I know will work the best. We've only had them a month, so I don't know how long they will keep an edge- but my expensive ones don't keep an edge this long. I would highly recommend them, but I'm not sure about them as a gift, unless it's for somebody just starting to cook- I like the colors but someone else might not! ... show more

I'm not into a bunch of "pretty colors" on my knives, but these were purchased for my wife, so the colors are cool. But they won't get a place on the counter because they clash with all of her decor. ANYWAY, these are super-sharp, and I have a nice gash on my finger to prove it; given to me by the serrated knife while cutting a pineapple. Like most "knife sets" there are probably 3 more knives in this set than the average cook will ever need or use, but the price is reasonable enough to make it ok. I'm interested to see how long these will stay sharp, AND how long the color will last. I'll update as any changes happen. Right now though they definitely do the job. Right now though , it gets a good rating from me for at least being what it says it is. ... show more

Soooo, I bought 4 sets of these knives. 2 for both my homes and gifted 2 other sets. I love them! My sister came over my house at Christmas and tried using one of my other crappy knives and said, " do you have a real knife". So I handed one of these and she said, "that's a real knife ". I purchased a ceramic knife about 20 years ago. It is still sharp and in great condition. That is why I ordered these knives. Today, I discovered that if you leave the sheaf on, you can crush garlic cloves with no worry that you will cut your hand. These knives should last the rest of my life.

I am so happy I purchased these instead of splurging on ceramic knives. I have always used ceramic knives and these feel just as good - if not better! Great grip, very sharp, and perfect size/shape. For this price, it's a fantastic deal - definitely better than other cheap knives.
